I saw a Billy Idol gig not long before Covid hit. Never been a huge fan - a friend took us along for a summer night out. Was at a classic indoor Sydney rock venue called the Hordern Pavillion which has a capacity of about 5,000 and has a wonderful open feel. It's old school - you can move around, dance, go to the bar and back or book seats if that's your thing. We spent most of the time within 20 feet of the stage.
Anyway if any of you ever get a chance to see Billy Idol don't miss it. What a great gig! Billy had the energy of a 20 yo (he's 64), he sang the entire night note perfect with never a hint of taking himself too seriously. Steve Stevens was incredible on guitar and the rest of the band were top shelf.
This was the last gig of a world tour so the whole crew were honed to perfection. The foh sound was flawless and the lighting/staging interesting and classy.
One of the best rock gigs I've ever been to.
