Wow, that was wild. You use a random slang from a second language for the first time in your life that stuck for 20 years and somebody opens up and there's an amazing story there.

Thanks @chanelvaps.

and I am now very anti drug
We are what we have been through and I would not trade my strength for anything.
How can the former be true, if the second one is? Or you mean just for you?

So... do you have a roo bar on your ute?
This instantly made me smile. I love really niche enthousianisms. This is like the wild Dekotora truck scene, or one of them other wacky Japanese car styles.

I just mean I lived a wild life of living on the edge and always tempting fate. It came with running, scrapping and learning how to be resourceful. Conquering the fiend that is drug addiction and learning to live a calmer life made me a strong person and I would not trade that for anything

Sorry, didn't mean for it so sound so harsh, judgemental or deterministic. Your views as you hold them, as you are, are valid. I'm just really wondering how you hold that view.

I was just wondering how you hold "anti drugs", but this doesn't have to do with anything.
    still wondering?
No. Short overlapping messages. Weird timing.

But your story and your message just told me a lot about myself. That whenever somebody talks about 'anti drug' I get into a defensive mode. And I haven't even used in 5 years, which was a real struggle. But the question is irrelevant. I'm glad to read you got the monkey off your back and made such a positive change in your life.

I do not think I got the addictive behavior or my taste for the thrills in life off my back. Drugs were fun but lead to nowhere's ville (ruined relationships, ruined teeth, bad for the body) I am very anti-drug today and advise anyone I know, young or old to learn to abstain. I have clinical depression and was always looking for something to make my head feel better. It has always been my tendency, when finding something I liked to delve in head first and then just bombard myself with it. I did it with drugs, later I learned to do it with finances. You could even say I do it today with shiny. My juice collection in the cheese section of my fridge would be the makings of a small shop (and most of the time I DIY) Perhaps everyone here in the shiny thread shares a bit of this obssession behavior and this is why we are all here and can relate to each other

OMG I so hear you, obsessive, compulsive and all or nothing, a feast or a famine ... with everything! I don't seem to have any understanding of the art of moderation, I seem to suffer from the disease of more.

Frozen chickens on special in the supermarket.....buy tons, can't fit them in freezer, end up giving them away to family and neighbours, see a new breed of flower I love...can't buy just one...have to get one of each colour. Start running, start doing marathons including the New York Marathon, Nov 7th 2010, Perfumes....loved French perfume since I was a kid, have a ridiculous amount of them, god the list goes on but the absolute worst is the vape gear I have. I can honestly say I have enough of a stash to last me the rest of my life, everything, mods, tanks and coils, nicotine and flavours, PG/VG ohhhhh boy. And I live in a country where it's all readily available and legal, how obsessive is that? LOL.

However it's way less harmful than the booze and drugs I used to use, clean and sober since 1999 thank god.:banana::banana:

Wow, this has been my life ever since I was a kid. Until it wears out and you gotta find something new. I am constantly chasing the dragon with whatever I'm interested in. This week I had my first session ever with a shrink and my mom was there to talk about my childhood and I so firmly remember the burning desire for things and experiences. I always kept my wish list for birthdays and special occasions up to date and I just yearned for certain toys or things to try. But I recently discovered that the feeling of unmanifested potential is like crack to me. It just becomes so strong at a certain point that I just have to act on it. But getting the thing never just seems to feel as good as that initial pull.

I remember starting vaping in 2012. Not really taking my time to vape drop-ins first. I had my first mech within 2 months of starting, while not having money to invest in the stuff I wanted to try. Kept going back to the analogs for a long time. Discovering the eGo-B system sucked, but it got me into vaping initially, then got a mech and someone gave me a 14mm rda, which was amazing, but I wasn't that good at building. Then got a 10440 hybrid mech, which was expensive for the time and i think I used it 3 times or so. I've finally found what works for me and I'm very content with it and have accepted that the chase after "high-end" stuff isn't it for me, even though I long for it, because it looks pretty... but I kind of like a mellow experience. Nothing fancy, just utilitarian philosophy, stuff that works. And it's kinda grey to that part of me that wants the bling, but that's ok.

In the end I still keep buying stuff though. Which is still better than keeping dropping money into things that destroy me or give me no pleasure. Vaping is so nice. Even when it's not as good, it's still nice.

Anyway, too much rambling. Thanks for sharing.

Bravo to you for getting sober.
Yeah I get the obsession thing and I did the French perfume too for awhile too. Had all the Dior's and Chanel's and Guerlains, etc. Enough to choke a horse. And if I liked one I never felt secure using it a lot unless I had a back up to it. Purged it all a few years ago and now I cannot stand to wear perfume.I also got into the Dior and Chanel lipglosses and had to have every color. Coveted them

thank you for sharing and I think all of us in here (or most) suffer from the 'give me MORE' tendencies. Some of us in the drug world, some in the booze and some in just whatever captures our fancy

Just ordered another Dvarw DL clone from FT. This one:

$16.68 Dvarw DL V3 Styled RTA Rebuildable Tank Atomizer - 3.5/6ml / 316 stainless steel / 24mm diameter at FastTech - Free Shipping

My first FT purchase since PayPal bent over and took one from the antivape nazis. Used a gift certificate
this is the one I got. I like it once I learned I did not have to wrap the coil around the post. I wanted it to have the Dwarv name on it (getting senile and wanted to look down at the name so I could remember what I was vaping on HA) but sadly it is unmarked.

@chanelvaps If life has taught me anything about myself it’s that I’m going to need more than 12 steps.
HA. I am a life long 12 stepper. I still go (although not during Covid but do them via ZOOM)
Once an additive personality, always one. I think AL ANON is the best program of all though as it teaches boundaries. I think anyone who has been an addict has problems with boundaries. JMO

I went to an NA meeting to support a colleague and I’ve been thinking of going ever since. There is something very powerful and maybe even deeply profound about opening up and sharing your story. I remember being deeply impressed by the people there.
