The capillary action steel wicks were originally designed for pretty tight MTL atties. I watched a DJLsb review yesterday and he mentioned tipping it upside down to really saturate the cotton but he didn't highlight dry wick as a problem!! Maybe try thinning your tails a bit.....I hope I haven't made a mistake buying oneDon't mean to stir..just reporting my observations.
I removed the st st ropes from the Brunhilde. I've had a few near dry hits so far. Well not dry, but I can taste it's running out of juice...cotton also is white..ish when I remove the cap. Wondering if this happens to anybody else...?
I had that with the 2.5mm coil at first...and now with a 3.0mm one as well...enough juice in the tank and cotton in the ports. It only happened two or three times on the last 1/4 tank.
It works (with the ropes removed) but to early to tell if it'll throw any complications...don't expect any though.
For now when I take the cap off it's way more juicy down there...than before. I'm starting to wonder if it really needs them ropes...dunno..will see

So you were getting near dry hits with the steel ropes? And running it with cotton into the ports like an RDTA resolved that? So your thinking is the steel ropes don't keep up with demand? How far down into the tank are your cotton tails going?Don't mean to stir..just reporting my observations.

I haven't had any near dry hits with the steel wicks in my Brunhilde. My cotton is always saturated. It doesn't matter if the tank is full, or only a quarter full, the SS ropes just suck the juice up into my wick. Been running a 3mm id 316L clapton since day one.
I switch off between cotton (Mavaton's) and rayon (Tidi). And I don't thin out my tails like I do with some other RTA's. I trim my tails right at the edge of the deck and simply lay them on the steel wicks.
Others, including me, were adamant too... then, Brunhilde in the fold.
Flavor, flavor, flavor.
Won't know the great flavor until you have one. Vaping my Brunhilde as I write... did I mention how nice the flavor is?

I use Rayon....CelloCotton. I trim a wee bit past the edge of the tank, and lay it on the ropes.
From day one I noticed the cotton never really appeared fully saturated...not as it is now without the ropes. I took the cap off soooo many times to check...especially after I had the first faint dry taste.
No I don't feed the cotton into the holes now...I just fill and lay it in the port, as I did with the ropes.
It works really well...I think i'm getting a more saturated vape. I'll put the ropes back later and do a comparison. Problem is I have to keep the tank upright when it's freshly full of juice...the ports filled with juice after the first few tilts. It's definitely using more juice now to.
As I said it was only faint and to few times to really make an issue of it...but it was on the edge for sure. Might be me that don't stuff it proper...dunno. I'll put the ropes back later and have a proper play with the wicking etc...
I love to tinker...that also might be part of the problem

That's good to hearI use 70VG/30PG and always have Mate, I've never had any wicking problems with mine

I trim my wick a little bit longer on my Brunhilde MTL than you do Mate, I trim at around the bottom o-ring on the deck.
I'm not sure if you're a fluffer or not, I most definitely fluff with the best of em' and have always found it helps with wicking
It also helps to have the SS rods poking up about 1mm above the deck so they can make really good contact with the cotton.
A nice plump wick is a happy wick on Brunhilde
