Is this the weather system that caused so much flooding in Queensland??
Yes it's part of the same giant East Coast Low pressure system that's caused all the terrible flood damage from Brisbane down to Nowra. That's about 1000km of coastline. We had some scares in my part of Northern Sydney today but nothing compared to the people in Lismore and Ballina (North Coast NSW) who lost everything they own. Entire towns written off. Thousands homeless.
Floods of a speed and size never recorded before.

Seeing how you folks always post some artsy pictures i thought i would go the extra mile and put some effort into it.
vape mail arrived yesterday but my allergies were into overdrive so i was way too tired, sleepy and sniffly to even post a pic.

JAMON.jpg

Nice vaping apparatus in the company of some Jamon Serrano (similar to Italian Prosciutto)

Lethal rta and Thelema Solo 100w (Pink Survivor),only bought the Solo in pink because of @ShowMeTwice so he is to blame...but i do like the color, kinda growing on me.

I had a different type of scare tonight.

I had left my BB on my desk.
Came back ten minutes later to a smell of burning juice/burnt cotton. I looked over and saw that the entire tank of the Orbit was drained dry (hot juice had dripped all over the place), and I could see that the coil was visibly glowing red hot through the top of the DT.
The body and G10 panels of the Billet Box (authentic DNA 60) were hot to touch and the battery was only just cool enough for me to take it out and place it outside.

The DNA 60 had auto-fired and the Orbit was just at the point of dry burning. No juice left. You can see in the photos that the cotton had burnt dry. The plastic tank of the orbit would have melted next and maybe the 18650 gone into thermal overrun.

I reckon a few minutes later and there would have been a fire in my house. The device was standing upright on a cloth mat on a timber desk.

I fully disassembled the BB and cleaned all parts and contacts but I'm not sure I trust that particular device anymore. I'd always thought that DNA 60s had a 15 or 20 second cutoff but either that's not correct or this is a faulty board (as opposed to a bad switch/contact). Because it's a BBV product, I can't access the DNA chipset via escribe to check it out.

I wonder if @BillW50 or @ShamrockPat might have any thoughts about DNA 60 boards auto firing.

To me it clearly sounds like it was caused from that leak. Juice either got into the external fire button or those solder points to the board, or the switch area on the board. A good clean with ISO should fix you up and then watch it while in use till you regain confidence

Wow! That was horrible Pigs! Yes, if the fire button was say stuck, the DNA board will only fire for 10 seconds (some boards you can adjust it a bit longer with EScribe) and then it will stop. Although even though the board is conformal coated, the buttons, USB and the wire connections are not. And if the circuit for the fire button had an intermittent short, it would be like it was continuously firing.

There are two fire buttons on a BB (unless BBV ordered the boards without an onboard switch) and juice in either one could cause that to happen. It doesn't have to be juice either. It could be just a faulty switch too.

While I never heard of a DNA board failure causing this. But I guess you can't rule it out either.

Btw, I never read this thread because my wallet can't afford it. I'm only here because you flagged me. ;)

I’d ask Mike Petro( not sure that’s how you spell his last name). He has contacts at Evolv.

FWIW, @Skunk! pulls the batteries from his mods at the end of the day in order to prevent unexpected problems.

Truth be told, no one knows when a mod, or battery, will give up the ghost and potentially cause problems.

    Good morning EveryOne :D

I'm sorry to hear about that T. Fortunately nothing worse happened. Hope you are able to resolve it and bring your BB back to life.

Wow!! I’m sure glad that didn’t end up worse. I may start pulling my batteries when not in use. I’m not a tech guy but from what I’ve read most of the problems with a BBV product is that upper firing pad. I’ve had one go bad and another one bad in a new never fired box. That pad is why I use mission switches. Wish you were in the states or shipping wasn’t so expensive or risky. I know a guy who’d replace the board and it’s not very expensive just to give you peace of mind. Hopefully after it’s cleaned good everything is fine.

Wow, that's odd. I have to admit with my trust issues I would probably never use that mod again.

The name Shiny is starting to lose it's luster. Nowadays a member comes here and shares their story of how they copped a new mod in some dark alley behind a Dollar Store.
