Gah! I think I've been bitten by the Shiny Bug!

Most of the things that I've been picking up lately have seemed practical (to me!) for building up my stash for any bad times that may come.

So, a couple of days ago I stopped at a shop that was near a job I was working on, but out of my normal area. I will probably go back again for a couple of RTAs that they had in stock, not found at my normal haunts.
While there, I saw a Lost Vapes Centaurus dna mod that I mostly brushed off since I have not gotten into TC and know that they are a bit pricey. (did not check their price on that one)
I'm not even 100% sure, but I think it was the gold edition version. Gold sticks in my mind.

Been looking at pics online of that one a few times since... and it is calling to me.

I'm sure that I could add at least two other mods to my stash for what the Centaurus would set me back. It might not even have been the gold one. It might be gone before I get back out that way.

Yet, it is calling out to me...

I use a Badger paint mixer after all the ingredients have been added to my mixes. Sure beats shaking the bottles.
Badger Air-Brush Co. 121 Paint Mixer.jpg

It fits in 15ml and 30ml bottles easily. Piece of cake with larger batches.

I always do flavors, pg, vg, and then nic. I don't know that it makes a difference but when I started mixing that's how Bill's Magic Vapor did it and so I followed suit. However, if I'm using a premixed nic base then I'll just do flavors first then the mix.

Nic, flavor, pg then vg. I figure if I add the smallest at the last it is harder to mix up.

I have a premix of nicotine and PG that I use first, then the flavors, then I top off with VG.

Me too. When I started doing this it made my life a lot easier. Don't have to unpack and defrost the nic every time I feel like mixing.

I have base (VG/PG/Nic) premixed then add flavors.

I keep forgetting about premixing my base. That may solve my overpouring problem, and save me some time.

Next question - what size bottle do you keep in the fridge of premixed base?

You are 100% correct. I just heard back from the person on FB and it is an Asvape Gabriel. :D

It's 30% off at Stab Wood Mods. Daniel should be able to buy us each one.

It does save bunches of time. I always have two 16oz (473ml) bottles of premixed base in the fridge.

I keep a 500ml bottle in the fridge. It lasts me about a year.

I like corded the best. With corded I cut several ~60mm strips. One 60mm strip is enough for two 2.5mm ID coils with a little of the strip left over. The leftover cotton eventually gets used.

Organic Upland Sliver (corded) was named Mavaton's Select. That's my preferred cotton. It is organic but not USDA certified organic.

    or

Sliver Blend (corded) was named Carolina Blend. Is is a 50/50 blend of acala cotton and an upland cotton. I also use this one.

Those will come corded if you order direct from Cottonman. I think you will be happy with either one.
    Thanks mate

    Morning shinies ;)

What way round do you guys mix? I think I'm back to front, but there's a method in my madness.

    VG
    Nic
    flavours
    PG

9/10 I overpour the VG, or the nic, and this means I can balance out my stuffups by using less PG. Or if it's a major stuffup, pouring some VG back in the bottle!
    I premix my base
    1. Nic
    2. DW
    3. VG
When mixing a recipe, flavors 1st then base.

I mix my 3mg/ml nic base in a 300ml bottle and leave it in a cool dark drawer. It stays crystal clear until I need to refill.
Would probably keep it in the fridge anyway but I don't feel comfortable doing that with a child in the house.

So your base is 3mg and you add flavors from there? I do mix some 3mg for high output review samples but mostly mix at 6 and 9mg except for my menthol tobacco which is mixed at 18mg for mtl.

When you all pre-mix the base I assume it's nicotine and VG or PG???

Is the base always VG because you know that part remains constant due to the majority of flavors being PG based?

And my last question-- what's the point? And, does it help with the steeping process?

Close to 3 years mixing now and I've always wondered about this.

It makes mixing go more quickly, @Skeebo. Instead of pulling two or three or, in my case, four bottles, one only has to grab one.

My base consists of nicotine, VG, PG, and PEG-400, with the VG slightly higher than I prefer to account for the PG-based flavors.

I am probably doing it all wrong but it was the way I started so I continue.
    Flavorings
    Vg
    Pg
last NIC, over by the sink so no animal paws could ever find a drop or a spill
All in 500ml amber bottles, using a 50 ml beaker for PG and a 100ml beaker for VG, a 10ml syringe for NIC

Like Zazie said, its for ease of use. Especially if you want to mix some sft then just put the flavor in and top off the bottle with the premixed base.

I premix in 600ml ldpe condiment bottles. 1 bottle for Meg and 4 bottles for me. I only keep 2 of my bottles in the fridge; the ones I keep out are kept out of direct sunlight when not in use. I don't like mixing so tend to mix around 1000-1500 ml over a couple days. That lasts us several months.

My flavour percentages are around 10% now that I'm using SSA's ice cream and whipped cream. So..... making a base end up with 8mg Nic strength and 30/70 pg/vg. Tossing in my 10% flavours will give me roughly my usual 7mg strength with roughly a 40/60 ratio.

    I think.

I don't experiment a lot with different recipes these days. I know that my few recipes all use around 9 percent flavour and that the flavours are all PG based.
I calculate this (steam engine) into my mix so I know the final recipe will be 30/70 pg/vg.

So like @Zazie my base is VG heavy before I add flavours.

Edit - just read Ange's post. So very similar approach
