Good afternoon shinies,

I have been in contact with Centenary mods, they should have sent my Diplomat accessories a couple of days ago, I will get a tracking number tomorrow since the shipping company is an unknown company to me.
Was a pleasant conversation I had with Roberto though.

2FDeal doesn't have everything in stock when you order, in my case they are empty for one bb panel, now I'm changing so that I can hopefully get it off before the Chinese holiday starts.

Sunbox, which expected zero response.

Sunbox advertised a new squonker on FB

My respond:
Congratulations Sunbox on a new mod.

However, I have something on my mind.
It has been a year since my GameOver 360N went back to you for warranty repair. The mod is now repaired, after many reminders from me, and with absolutely zero updates from you.
You were supposed to send me an invoice in December 2023, so that I can pay the return shipping costs, you have not managed to do that either.
And as usual, we hear nothing from you, month after month.

13 months!!!

Shameful!!!

Sunbox are a totally useless company.

Want to be a complete pain in their azz?

Post your Sunbox experience in all the squonker groups on Facebook. Also in the SBS group.

Sunbox posts in those groups.

That’s exactly what I would do. Embarrass them publicly, for the fun of it. And perhaps it will cost them some sales (a fine goal).

Threatening to take the issue to consumer advocacy groups (and to a lesser extent, sites like TrustPilot and BBB) does wonders as well.

    Good morning folks,

No, there is one clip that holds the screen connector in place, there are two small black plastic pieces on either side, use a small flat screwdriver to pry the clip out in the same direction as the connector itself (direction to the fire button). Be careful not to lose the clip. I myself tend to leave one side a bit in the groove.
The screen itself is attached to the screen frame with double-sided tape, hold the frame and use a screwdriver to massage the old screen loose.
Insert the new screen into the connection first, fit the clip as it was, then place the screen into the frame.
For me, they stuck more than enough to the old double-sided tape.

You can also remove the frame if you feel it's easier, it's also in double-sided tape, be careful not to damage the two taps that go to the chipset.
    Hey Tor

Had a go at replacing the screen in a Pico today. Opened it up and popped the board out. I saw where the screen was set on top of a plastic deck. That deck was a frame with 4 legs that went into holes on the chipset. The ribbon from the screen wrapped round underneath the deck and was attached to the chip.

I got the old screen off the deck. It appeared to be attached with glue, still sticky enough that it would hold the new screen.

Then I had to get the screen ribbon off the chip. That's where I got stuck. The ribbon had around 14 copper strips inside exposed at the end, which matched up to 14 copper strips on top of the chip. Far as I could tell there was nothing holding it in place except for glue on top. It looked like the ribbon had been placed onto the connections on the chip and glued in place. There was nothing else holding it down, no clip or anything.

There were 2 tiny holes in the ribbon which matched up to 2 holes in the top of the chip. It looked to me like you could use some kind of tool that went through the holes to hold the ribbon in the correct position then glue it in place.

I decided to sacrifice that Pico in the name of research. I pulled the deck the screen sits on off the board. That broke off 2 of the 4 legs. That left the old screen just hanging from the chip and the attachment of the ribbon to the board was exposed. It was just sitting there covered with glue. There was no clip. I tried to pick at the glue in case it was some kind of tape that could be removed but it was just glue. I gave up and pulled the ribbon off. Half the exposed copper ends tore off.

I opened up another Pico to take a look. It was the same as the first one so I reassembled it.

Is it possible that the design of the Pico has changed to allow screen replacement? All my Picos are quite old.

    Any thoughts?

Sorry this post got so long.

Where the ribbon is attached to the board, did you see if there was a black clip there?
I'll open one of my pico's tomorrow and take pictures for you, where the clip also sits that holds the ribbon in place on the board.
The screen itself is no better attached than on double-sided tape

Does the ribbon connection look like this (another eleaf I had laying):
    IMG_1736.jpeg

Eleaf used a slightly cheaper Amphenol FCI 59435 connector where the black clip locks the connector instead of Dicodes&Evolv which has a flip clip.
On the Eleaf, the clip must be carefully pulled towards where the ribbon enters the board, i.e. towards the fire button.

When the clip is released from the board, the ribbon can be pulled out.
The opposite is done when a new screen is fitted.

I will check if I paid for the mod with the Visa card or if it was with PayPal.
There are some buying rules in Europe, don't know if there is anything to get there, but have to check it up anyway.

Then I checked which payment method I used, Paypal, 18 August 2022 DELSOLEDIVO.

Paypal rules are that a dispute can be raised within 180 days, statute of limitations.
Looks like they are supposed to return the item within 30 days (or supply you with an invoice at least I would think). That's how I interpret it anyway, you could call them and ask. I checked Norway consumer protection(?) and wound up on that site.

Consumer protection for your region looks similar to ours in the USA insofar as there is an expectation that you write a complaint to the business first before contacting them. I've never actually had to do that...

What I've done a couple times is call customer support for the company that will not warranty the product etc. I will kindly ask them for their mailing address. After they tell me the address, I inform them that I intend to mail a written complaint stating my terms: they have 30 days from receipt to honor their legally binding warranty etc. (in this case, to mail back your product or supply you with an invoice for shipping) or I will complain to consumer protection and the BBB for starters and escalate from there, to include small claims court if necessary.

Every time they immediately backpedal and suddenly want to honor the warranty/take care of the issue ASAP. Because they know they are in the wrong in every sense of the word.

So that's another way to get your issue taken care of. Hope that helps.

They have done the warranty repair, they are clearly unable to return the mod to me, for some strange reason. I don't know what they are doing, but customer follow-up is not Sunbox's strong suit.
€170 mod, I don't think too much about the amount, I'm mostly annoyed by the lack of follow-up.
Cost me €40 to send it back too.

I will read up on the purchase conditions in the EU, we are partly in the EU, so I will see what is written there.

I also have to do as SMT said, give them little peace in groups.

    Sent them an email again.
I’ll give them italians a call tomorrow, found their number

Thanks for getting back to me.

Couple of pics here. The first one is the board with the screen table in place. Second one is with the table removed and me holding the ribbon next to the place where it attaches to the board. There is just a row of contacts on the board which are the row in between the two holes where the legs of the screen table go in, which the contacts on the ribbon have to touch. The end of the ribbon where it attaches to the board and the part of the board next to the contacts were covered in a thick layer of glue. After I pulled the ribbon off the board you can see there is nowhere for the ribbon to plug in, It just seems to lie on top of the contacts and be glued in place.

I suspect the design must have changed. Sometime I'll open up some other Picos and see if they look any different.

Yep, they've obviously changed from soldering to SFVL connection over the years they've been producing the Pico.
Some other Eleaf had soldering, like TC 40 etc.
While the newer pico, pico25, etc. have SFVL connection.

Do you have a friend who is good at soldering?
