Yep, they've obviously changed from soldering to SFVL connection over the years they've been producing the Pico.
Some other eleaf had soldering, like TC 40 etc.
While the newer pico, pico25, etc. have SFVL connection.

Do you have a friend who is good at soldering?
Definitely don't know anyone that good. I mean, 14 tiny connectors with a fraction of a millimeter gap between them. Can't even see how it's possible. Sounds like a job for a machine rather than a human. Think I'll just pass on that. Plus I've got plenty of Picos. I do have a few with faded or dead screens, I'll check them out when I have some spare time.

I did wonder if I could leave the ribbon attached to the board and cut it, then get some kind of clip that would clamp onto the cut end and also clamp onto the new screen ribbon. Maybe something like that exists.

By the way, I slightly messed with the one I took apart and reassembled. Just like you warned me about I got the up/down buttons on the bottom reversed. Plus there are 2 different types of screws in there. The ones that hold the top and bottom plates on were star drive. The 2 that hold the end plate onto the board were exactly the same size but hex drive. They were too small for my fading eyes to notice the difference. The star driver worked on the hex screws though. And the 2 springs under the up/down buttons were different for no obvious reason.

Bit of fun tinkering though.

    Morning shinies ;)

Record breaking 5 days from 3f to me vapemail. Which is doing absolutely nothing for my already miniscule willpower.

The panels fit well and look amazing on. I'll take a pic of them on the Raga soon.

I may have put another order through for some more of these. And some clear panels.

If anyone is looking for budget 2 piece boro tanks like the Snailtank, Limelight and Crypt etc I found this SKK one. I haven't road tested it yet but its quality seems fine.
Ange, I got the clear and overall I'd rate it a 3 out of 10. Why? There's no marking that I can use to tell the front or back of the base. I gotta put it on and feel for the smoothness of the join. PITA but doable.

I already posted a pic but on the clear, all 4 legs are straight. Look at yours. Then look at a working tank. They need to be beveled. The RBA positive would not reach the mod positive, but oh yeah it will fit in the cavity. So, I didn't think I could match that bevel on 4 legs easily, so I sanded all 4 down straight and it still hits the mod bevel but at least I get a good connection. PITA.

Look how the legs do not touch the bottom

It is less than 10 years ago that FFC/FPC Connectors came/became common instead of soldering lcd/oled flex cables to boards.
Evold DNA 40 in its time had soldering, it was with DNA that they used FFC (8 pin SFVL), so it is not very old technology.
And, there is a huge jungle over which types exist, and which pitch too.

But now we have found out that Eleaf used soldering instead of FFC/FPC Connectors on the oldest Pico 75.

And yes, that soldering process is not easy, high magnification or microscope is the only way.

For those who want to read a bit about the jungle.. this is above what is available with 0.5 pitch

    Good morning shinies,

I gave Sunbox the last email, a bit about what I planned to find out:
Is it possible for Sunbox to finish the warranty case, send me an invoice for the return, so that I can get the mod back to me without any more mess from Sunbox.

I have not read up, but will read up on the EU's consumer rights. I hope it will not be necessary to spend more time on this
and voila, suddenly I get a msg on FB, with a tracking number.

Well that was very prompt on their part.

I may have played a small role with Sunbox finally getting off their rear-ends. Yesterday I sent them an email, via their contact page. regarding your situation.

Without going into all the details of what I wrote, in part, I told them...........

"I am planning to purchase a couple of your mods. However before I go through with my order there is another matter which must be fully resolved first. In your possession you have 1 Game Over mod that Tor from Norway sent you for repair 13 months ago (you know exactly who I am referring to). A simple repair that takes 13 months is not acceptable in any way whatsoever."

"Contact Tor promptly with your intent to return his repaired mod along with a tracking number. Failure to do so will result in a blistering spread on all social media platforms, and two very popular vape forums, about your totally unacceptable 13 month repair fiasco, lack of proper customer service and communications. And I promise you this will negatively affect your future sales. Are you willing to risk that?"

I finished with, "I will know if you've followed through with Tor."

Imagine my surprise reading your post this afternoon.

Did I overstep in writing them? I think not. The way I look at it is very simple. Friends help friends. I'm only sorry that I didn't write them months ago.

I was 100% bluffing about purchasing a couple of their mods.

Nothing new for me on the Shinyitis front but I did have an interesting encounter with a large praying mantis outside my workplace.
She was about 10 inches long and while I was photographing her, she was very aware of me. These creatures are incredible predators - you wouldn't want to meet one person-sized.
We have over 100 species of them in Australia (that we know about)

    Great quote J.
A few years ago I sat transfixed watching a bright green praying mantis walk along the window sill (it was outside, I was inside watching through glass) plucking at the web of the black house spiders that live in our eves. The mantis does that to trick the spider into thinking an insect has been caught in the web. When the spider darts out to investigate, the mantis makes quick work of it.

    Thank you very much, J
You have probably been involved in this, yes, the email you have sent has certainly had them philosophizing about how much damage they are willing to sacrifice for being unstructured.
The tips you and others have given along the way have also helped me a lot.

Hello Shiny's. Long time no check-in. Caught up today and I agree with TrollDragon. You kids buy a lot of toys. I remember the days when I did too. I cannot believe the Pico is making the rounds again. I am totally old school and just buy what I know I like.

    Somewhere between here and there
Over the past several months I’ve gotten rather lazy about building tanks and have been using itanks a lot with the Gti coils. I broke into my 50 pack of coils so should probably think about getting some more.

I'm glad you pointed this out, and I edited my post. I originally thought they may be replacement A tanks with the larger hole for coils. So all I checked when I got it was the hole size. I've got the Caliburn bridge in my cart, I'll grab that next order.
