my shift key is not working and I cannot capitalize or punctuate correctly.
i tried to google the problem and it rambles into words I do not understand, such as checking my driver
I do not even know what a driver is/does let alone find it

My solution is the same as Letitia's - the most likely cause is a dirty contact.
Your trouble shooting question about the other shift key confirmed it is most likely a physical issue that can be fixed with cleaning (isopropyl alcohol) or else the contact is worn out and a new keyboard is needed.

They collect a huge amount of dust and crap from daily use. I read an article a while ago where researchers went and took swabs in public places to check for amounts of bacteria and found that communally used computer keyboards had higher concentrations than public toilet seats.

    I finally got shipping notification from dotmod. In reality, they were probably closed Friday for the holiday when I placed my order. With any luck I’ll have it either Friday or Saturday.
