it can get quite expensive sometimes especially after watching some of the reviews on you tube just cant help myself lol. Just got myself a sigeili mini 30w and a subtank mini I've only been vaping full time since january started off with an mvp 20w and a nautilus mini. I just wanted to know from the longtime vapers here do u feel any side effects from vaping?
I've been vaping for several years, and I've been careful to only buy quality eliquid. Some of the cheaper stuff has a funky, musty aftertaste after sitting for a couple of months. I haven't had any adverse side effects, in fact I breath easier now. I smoked two packs a day for many years, and spent a fortune on cigarettes...about 11 bucks a day; now it'd be $13 a day since they went up.
I'm a very frugal person by nature, and I try to buy just what I need as far as vaping equipment goes. I think all anyone needs are two or three good batteries, and three good tanks. I have watched fads come and go without jumping on the bandwagon. I've noticed the Reo's standing the test of time, and may invest. They are expensive, but they last.
I just bought a Subtank, an iStick 50w, and two 60ml bottles of Nicoticket eliquid for $110 last week. I'll probably order another two 60ml bottles next month just because I want to try their new flavor, but I won't be out of eliquid. I guess I average about $35 -$40 a month on what I actually consume.

well i started on a kamry 100 and the upgraded to my tobecco atty clone RDA on it so i was sitting at around $140 and that went on for atleast a year and i spent a total of $200 in 2014 for vape gear and then since this years start i purchased new batteries 2 pairs, Sigelei 150Watt, Aspire atlantis, 3 bottles of suicide bunny and 1 or kings crown and then 2 bottles of Whit E. Octopus, I will be making my own juices going to the free to vape. the price i figured i spent so far just on this year is atleast 300.

I jumped on the DIY train with the help of this forum. Start up cost me less than 70 bucks and it gave me enough supplies to last a long time. I was paying 20 bucks for a 30ml bottle at a B&M so my DIY set up has already paid for itself. I also rebuild all my coils so it looks like i wont need to spend a dime for months and months to come. Maybe i can justify a couple new mech mods or rdas..... i suck at saving money lol

I bought an Anarchist Mech Mod with a Tugboat tank that I never use because I don't want to make my own coils. It wasn't that expensive, and the owner of Origin Vapes put it together for me. I want to give it to my son, though. Why don't you buy an iStick and a Subtank for now? For about $100 you can even throw in some coils and juice. It won't last as long as a Mech Mod, but I'd think at least 2yrs of service until you can save up for your dream MOD.

Actually I have some ijoy ego style batteries that have clicker VV 3 clicks change voltage 3.5, 3.7, 3.9, 4.1. I also have ego style batteries that put out raw battery voltage, start out at around 4.2 then drop to 3.7 or so before flashing dead.
All ego style batteries are not created equal.

And the 3 click ones are ego vv, the others I wouldn't touch, as they should be regulated.

My purchases:

Early 2013: 2 Ego T (40$)
Fall 2013: 2 Nova 2 (60$)
Summer 2014: Delta and BEC Pro, intellicharger and two Efest purple (180$)
Early 2015: Subtank Mini and 8 Samsung 25R (80$)
April 2015: Kangertech K-Box (35$)

I started with pre-made juice and started DIY in mid 2014. My juice consumption rose, but the price sunk. On average I spent less than 1,30$ for juice per day.

The costs for atomizer heads are the hardest to guess, but I´d say they are definitely less than 0,20$ per day on average.

Few weeks ago I started to use the RBA on my Subtank Mini.

In Germany cigarettes cost about 6$ per pack (17 cigs) and I used to smoke a pack every day. In the last two years vaping has saved me more than 2000$.

Here is an image I saved from a facebook group. The comment reads "I started vaping 6 weeks ago and I miss nothing about analog cigarettes."

When I saw the picture I thought "Wow, so this guy spent more than twice as much on hardware in the last 6 weeks than I did in the last 110 weeks."

Advice for cost reduction:
Start DIY your juice.
Start building your own coils.
Stop buying new hardware because of Youtube Reviews and Forum posts. (There is a proverb that translates roughly to "What you don´t know can´t get you excited.".)

On average, I spend between $300.00 and $500.00 per month on mods, tanks, etc. It may seem like a lot, but I treat it as a hobby, and yes....I do like buying the latest and greatest, because I enjoy it.

I have a good friend that has made comments about how much vaping "stuff" I buy, yet him and his wife eat in restaurants at least every other night. Go figure.

Yep. If you have money you get to decide what to spend it on. If you don't have money it's good to have friends. :)

So vapers, whenever I read the forum I keep reading buy this $200 worth of gear or that $225 and upgrade to this or that. Does anyone actually pay attention to how much money they are spending to vape?

I do, to a point. Currently, I have a prepaid credit card that I add $25 a week to, and that's my vape card. However, there are times when there's something I simply want to have, so I buy it. I am fortunate in that my salary allows me to pay my bills and actually have disposable income after savings are attended to.

Or does it just seem like unfettered money spending from here?

Sometimes, yes, but as I've posted before, in the 30 years that I smoked I spent somewhere in the neighborhood of $40,000 with nothing to show for it but yellowed teeth and a cough. I'm okay with what I've spent on vaping,

Is there any really good hardware that doesn't cost hundreds of dollars?

Absolutely, and I've owned some of that hardware. But I rarely drink, don't gamble, chase skirts, or fly planes, and a man's gotta have a hobby. :)

And how much a month do you really spend? Add it up, be honest. :)
yours Scott

A month? Something along the lines of a modest car payment if you average everything out.

Not that much, anymore. Once I got my sigelei 100w+ and a dark horse rda, I'm pretty well set on equipment. I buy vape wild juice, so thats about the cheapest out there.

I did just buy a billow rta, so that I have something I can use on long drives without having to worry about dripping, but that's the only equipment I've bought this year. $30 worth of juice can last me a month anymore.

Just put in my first diy order, what a deal man! 2 gallons for 60 dollars and free shipping.... 2 gallons at premium juice prices buying 30ml at a time costs around 6300 dollars.... I was shocked at how much money I'm going to be saving. Thanks for this link.

I'm still using as we speak my good ol K100($19.00) I got 2 years ago from fasttech and not to far behind it my KTS+($20.00). Both still hitting like champs, they may have lost their luster but they still shine. They are workhorses that just don't quit. I have other higher end PV's but still like my K100 and KTS+.
