I don't know what the status is in Calif at this second, but there is a bill at some stage that will ban online sales of nic. I know a number of people are going to Sacramento and protest/speak. The state is flooded with little ban and restrictions from cities; passed in L.A. and SF. A person can't even vape in their apartment they are renting. As if any of them would know whether a person did or not. I think there's 20-30 states with active bans/taxes/etc going on right now. I hate to say too much because stuff changes quite a bit and I'm not directly involved. Your making headway there?

Headway maybe, conversations are happening with state legislators but with the news of the FDA regs I think I'd rather live on a deserted island.

Note to self... take extra happy pull before going cold-turkey. The government isn't satisfied unless you are killing yourself with "approved" smoking devices.

By the way, when do we just admit that this is a dictatorship that let's us keep a small amount of what we earn?

Do deserted islands still exist? I'll join you if you find one.

All the regulations that I've read banning import and sales of nic are directed at business. I haven't read fine print, but I haven't seen anything about personal, noncommercial use. I have no problem personally forwarding shipments / finding mail services that forward shipments for anyone facing restrictions. There is also at least one nic supplier using plain wrappers. You just can't use a cc registered to an address in state.

From what I've seen, every lie that can be told is being advertised on every msm outlet today. It really undermines whatever credability medical science had left.

I'd love to spend the day writing up scathing comments about this situation. Pretty unrealistic though. I'm not a fast writer.

I'm ordering NN's armour today (before they run out). For anyone interested, FT's brass M16 is a solid, no nonsense mech out of the box for < $20 (no fiddling).

Yeah!!!!! Finally. Go and get your ducks in a row. The long wait is over. I am so happy for you Karen.[/QUOT

I am already home, I got tired after the bank!!!!! This might take me a while, LOL

The general rule when you receive a windfall is to spend nothing for a couple of months. That will not work in your case. But I would put a good portion in a separate savings account that is not linked to checking or a card so that you will not do any impulsive stuff like buying a new place to live.

Right now everything is going to look good to you. No matter the deal, sleep on it before deciding on anything over $100. Just my opinion and comes from personal experience.

Back around 2000 DH hit over $10k on a Poker table in Las Vegas. We had been talking of moving. So we went and looked at houses the next day. Found one we liked with a supposed view of the Strip (empty builder lot) and while I writing out the check for the deposit to buy the house I asked for the street address to put in the Memo line on the check. When the Sales Rep said the street #, our Realtor was looking at the plot map on the wall. Come to find out, the lot the rep was selling us would not fit the house model we were purchasing and we would have no Strip view. Of course, we tore up the check and paperwork and walked. Wasted 4 hours. But saved us around $200k by not making the mistake. We did not move to TN until a lot more research was done and 3 years later.

That $10k he won. About a month later he bought a used pickup truck that he needed and wanted, cash. I guess my point is that everything looks good in the heat of the moment and the excitement of getting something that you think you want. Now put some aside just to have fun with, for you!

PLEASE STOP!!!

(1) We were asked to WAIT for CASAA to issue some guidance on what we should do and when.

(2) The petition contains false statements. The very first sentence is FALSE. The FDA has only PROPOSED regulations.

(3) The petition is poorly worded and contains spelling, grammar, and syntax errors. It doesn't help us if it reads as if it was written by a third-grader.

I understand how you feel; we're all _____ (nervous, scared, angry). But we can't go off half-cocked on our own with a petition here and a letter there. We need to put forth a unified effort and we need to do it intelligently.

Please don't sign the petition. WAIT for CASAA's guidance.

If you're not a member of CASAA, please join. If you are a member, please donate!

One very, well two, very major problems with this post.

First: "wait"... No. The FDA is not waiting, they are moving forward. And yes this is poorly worded and hastily put together but if something is not said it could he said too late and never reach those who have any actual influence in matters like this. True the regulations are only "proposed" but at one time, Obama-care was only proposed.

Second, "don't sign - just wait"... no, honestly I am already stocking up and planning an exit strategy. This is not even close to the time to wait simply because of spelling errors.

I would highly suggest that anyone who is able create a more sensibly worded petition and that we all sign both but it has always been rash and determined action that has shown the determination that has created this country and what once made it great.

Waiting for CASAA does not make your voice heard immediately.

I am a member of CASAA and value them greatly but, even if it is very grassroots and even if it fails, at least it is doing something. I will simply NOT be told what I can or cannot do to save my own life by a government I neither chose nor approve of.

What about the FALSE and unsubstantiated statements? Those don't bother you at all?

To quote the exact petition (pardon the font changes, direct copy and paste on purpose):

WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO:

Veto the FDA Restrictions on E-Cigarettes

The FDA has classified E-Cigarettes as "Tobacco Products" and will now severely restrict their use. These regulations are not like those of tobacco, but instead all manufactures will be required to complete a lengthy and expensive application just for putting new products on the market. This includes Mechanical Mods, Variable Voltage, tanks, drippers, etc. Any new "Model" after 2015 will be required to complete this application. The FDA has over stepped their boundaries. E-Cigarettes CAN NOT be classified as a "Tobacco Product" as there is no tobacco in it. They fret about the nicotine, but there is nicotine in many plants including tomatoes. They fret about the flavors, yet allow Smirnoff Vodka to advertise candy and fruit flavors. DoNot, allow the FDA to take control of a life saving prod

Created:.Apr 24, 2014

Ms. P to what false statements do you refer? That they cannot be classified and therefore regulated as a tobacco product (the FDA tried to ban the import of ecigs at one point and was denied the authority on the grounds that they were not a "burning tobacco product" vis. http://m.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2010/01/judge-overrules-fda-on-e-cigarettes/33583/ and http://casaa.org/site/mobile?url=http://casaa.org/E-cigarette_History.html#2602 [spec. March 2009 - July 2009].

That the FDA intends to severely restrict the use of ecigs? They are already banning vaping in places where smoking traditional cigarettes are banned.

The statement about flavors? Visit a liquor store.

The statement about future products?
See the government's view on Substantive Equality and how it applies to the tobacco industry.

***

In short, the FDA makes one good point that I think ALL OF US agree on: e-cigarettes should never be sold, marketed or be made available through direct, indirect or lack of action to anyone under legal age.

Also, they could benefit from "gentle" regulation (most easily from within) regarding quality control and continuity, this very thread can stand as an example for that.

But false and unsubstantiated... where? And more importantly, for how long and how many people will have to die smoking "FDA-approved" nicotine delivery devices before they do a few simple but crucial things.

First, validate or disprove the existing testing of ecigs through their own AND independent research and realize that the enemy is not the loss of money, control or taxpayers who will die slow deaths; but the ultimate realization that they will simply create a "healthy" underground that has no need for their existence and values them even less.

I invite further comments.

Ms. P to what false statements do you refer?QUOTE]

False, misleading, and/or unsubstantiated. The very first sentence is FALSE.

  • The FDA has NOT classified e-cigs as tobacco products. They have PROPOSED to do so.
  • The FDA will not (now) severely restrict their use. They have PROPOSED to do so.
  • After 2015 - no. Dating back to 2007 and going forward.
  • A lifesaving product - maybe. "We" think so. We hope so. But we don't have the scientific data to back up that claim.
I doubt the young man who authored the petition read and completely understood every word in the proposal. If he did read the entire proposal, he obviously did not understand it all. Or perhaps he chose to only see what he wanted or expected to see and ran with that. Whatever the case, the petition is badly worded, contains inflammatory language, and contains false, misleading, and/or unsubstantiated statements and claims.
