Uncle, did someone delete your posts or ask you to delete them? Aside from the fact I disagreed with them, I don't see any reason why you would be asked to delete them. None of your posts were abusive or profane; none violated any of ECF's rules that I'm aware of. You said, "Please sign this petition." I said, "Please don't." We didn't get into a pissing contest. We expressed our views. That's what a forum is for.
One of my (many) issues with the petition is that it's untimely. What does the petition purport to accomplish? Signing a petition isn't what's called for at this stage in the process. Our first step is to comment on the proposed actions. THAT is our chance to have our voices heard. But without reading and thoroughly understanding what is contained in the FDA's proposal, how can we possibly make informed and relevant comments? I can read it, but I can't understand all of it. Legalese, bureaucracy, nuance - call it what you will. The average person can't understand it all. TEAMS of lawyers, accountants, physicians, scientists, etc., are poring over the proposal to figure out what it says and what it all means. I hope they can explain it to us in terms we can understand. If we can't do it ourselves, we have to trust someone to help us out. I hope CASAA is that "someone." I'm betting my rights they are.
the biggest thing i see of the "we the people" petitions is that its only a petition to ask the white house for an official response. never changes anything, and is hardly ever from the president himself, always a staff member quoting something that was in a speech, or the official stance on it.
