First I want to congratulate all those reaching milestones or for personal victories. (a la Shari or FQ) I lurk, but rarely get caught up enough to post, or reply to posts that aren't already a week (or more) old. I will try to address what little my feeble mind can remember...
Shari: I can relate to flavors just not doing it for you. What works for me sometimes is to give my regular flavors a break for a while, because I am usually just bored of them. This often results in my smoking more, since I am still a dual user. WTA might help, I noticed that it did lesson cravings for me, however the "unflavored" version I got from Wholecig still has a "tobacco" flavor that literally turns my stomach.
I recently got some Ahlusion juices, do they need to be opened to steep or do they steep on their own like most liquids do? I've yet to try any of them.
Switching up flavors and equipment might be part of the problem as well. The same flavor used in a protank / rba / rda results in subtle changes to both the flavors and NIC levels. As far as having a difficult time with the Igo-L, you might try using 30 or 32 wire instead of 28. Much less surface area = not as much vapor or nic.
The being said, I don't lung hit the drippers either. I use a pipe method, of 3 puffs (literally taking my lips off the drip tip, while still firing the PV) into my mouth, and then inhaling that into my lungs. If that makes any sense.
Aik: I am totally with you on the kanger aero tank airflow control valves / bases. I have 4 of them now, and getting ready to get a bunch more before the vapocalypse. I have a bunch of protanks so they should last a very long time if needed. The new bases completely fixed all my issues with protanks!
Speaking of the vapocalypse, (more on this later) Can anyone recommend a good source for the non-peppery tasting nic? I want to freeze some just in case. Also I am thinking of getting a backup zmax for the same reason. I was planning on getting an eroll... but now I'm not sure that I want to invest in more eq that I might not be able to get attys or other parts for... Any thoughts?
FDA / Vapocalypse stuff: About 5 months ago I noticed a 2 page color advert in a major mens magazine for a cigalike semi-disposable ecig. Over the last year there has been a huge marketing push for ecigs in general so the ad was not much different than other ads... until I looked at it closely. The first red flag was when it stated that this was a tobacco product, the second red flag was where it disclosed that the product is owned by the RJ Reynolds company.
It may not seem like such a big deal, but in one stroke they are classifying a competing product as something it is not in order to effect legislation that will ultimately give them a monopoly over said product; thereby forcing mom and pop businesses to close down. As always, it boils down to greed.
Another disturbing trend I've noticed over the last few months is the utter demonization of e-cigarettes on the "local" news channels. (I say local but most stories come down from the Network and are repackaged to air on local affiliates.) Suddenly the evil e-cigarette peddler is marketing them to children with the candy flavors, and poisonings have gone up 250%. The reality check is that I've never seen any marketing to kids, rather the industry has been self regulating from the beginning. As for poisonings going up: a) Users of e-cigs went from thousands to around a million, b) people need to keep dangerous things from their children, and c) see rule b.
Make no mistake, network news is NOT news. Network news has become a game of ratings and a way to influence the public's perception.
I'm not wearing a tinfoil hat, rather I'm pointing out that Rupert Murdoch owns Fox, and everything down to their "local" news is slanted to the right. NBC, and MSNBC is slanted to the left.. btw... NBC is Really, "NBC-Universal... a Comcast company." ABC is of course Owned by Disney, and CBS is owned by Sumner Redstone who is worth a paltry 6.2 billion and who also owns Viacom, MTV, BET and Paramount.
The point I'm trying to make is that there are a lot of people and businesses who are motivated by money. Public opinion sadly, really doesn't matter. The FDA and other similar organizations work for the corporations, to protect *them* from the general public. Not the reverse.
Before I go too far off on a tangent, the FDA does need to regulate e-cigarettes. It should be illegal for minors to purchase liquid. We should know what else is put in the liquid we use. Warning labels should tell the ...... not to drink it, that it is poison, and probably bad for them to one degree or another.
IMHO, there may be a supply hic-up. But I seriously doubt hardware will step-back 7 or 8 years. They may try to regulate flavors but it's impractical. Wick and Wire, PG, VG and batteries will also remain available. That leaves us with devices and nicotine. Thinking about it, Nicotine is probably safe too since anyone 18 or over can walk into a store and buy the patches/gum/losanges/enhalers/tobacco... and home made mods are still not difficult to make.
This is a battle over profit and tax revenue. Stock up if you need to, but the sky isn't falling... yet... (and possibly not ever.)
