Just curious since you are talking about swollen ankles/feet what issue were you having. I recently put if no where had this same issue..went to the doc..no reason for the swelling other than a possible allergy... It went down but
It has occurred again....
Sent from my LG-VM696 using Tapatalk 2

I kinda hesitate to get into this, since it seems that everytime I do, someone jumps up and tells me I have no idea what I'm talking about, but, since you asked... I had the swollen ankles/painful feet for a couple months before I got sick, getting worse all the time, and I just could not figure out what to do about it. When I was so ill, I lost so much more fluid, that my dehydration became SEVERE, and I was forced to deal with it -- partly, at first, by just not vaping, which is one thing that caused me to go back to light smoking.

I studied and read every possible thing I could find, regarding dehydration, electrolytes, etc, but nothing I was doing was helping at all. Till I finally recalled Myrany mentioning coconut water to me, so I tried it, and within a week, the problem began to go away; a few days more, and the swelling AND pain was completely gone. I can only attribute this to the high level of potassium contained in coconut water, which tells me that the swelling/pain wasn't *strictly* because of dehydration, but from the consequences of dehydration, the electrolyte imbalance. Once the electrolytes are out of whack, you could drink enough water to float a battleship, and it wouldn't fix it, in fact it would make it worse, by continuing to flush more electrolytes from the body.

Obviously over the last few weeks, I've been quite determinedly vaping more while trying to smoke less (managed to keep it to 7 cigarettes yesterday!), while continuing to drink 12oz of coconut water daily (I mix in just a tiny bit of pineapple juice, to keep it from being so sweet), and also adding other foods that are high in potassium, and also water, in the case of the canteloupe, and still trying to drink a gracious plenty of water. When I started all this with the coconut water, I also *slightly* decreased my sodium intake, using some of my husband's Lite Salt instead of the real stuff, and I decreased my caffeine intake pretty significantly too, going from 10 cups of black tea a day, to 2 cups in the morning, and now that the problem seems under control, I have a couple glasses of iced tea at night, with/after dinner.

I will probably have to continue this regimen as long as I vape, coconut water, less salt, less caffeine, and always lots of water, but it's becoming more habitual for me now, and it seems a fair trade, being able to get rid of the lethal cigarettes with vaping, while not destroying my health with dehydration/electrolyte imbalance.

I can't say that this would work for everyone, especially those who have to take meds that fiddle with the potassium/sodium balance; but, if you don't take meds of that sort, and have the swollen/painful feet and ankles, then adding potassium and slightly decreasing sodium and caffeine may help a great deal. Oh, and continuing with large quantities of water, but if you already have the swelling, then water alone could make it worse rather than better.

Andria, thanks for pointing that out, I never thought about my potassium being out of whack, I think there are holistic reasons for a lot of what plagues society these days, stress, over working under sleeping, the race horse mentality. Eatting wrong, and so on!
Sometimes it's a natural cure that works the bestest! Cut the pills (if you can) and look to nature! We as a nation are more sick then in history even with the sciences of living longer!

Stepping down off my soap box.
I do take medication that help to manage my bi-polarism. So I am not saying no meds...
Ok now stepping down...lol

Byw great job on the 7!

When I'm vaping exclusively, I've run into dehydration problems. The first time I got sick and ended up in the ER the nurse said my veins were "flat" and I had low - really low blood pressure. They pumped over 5ltrs of fluid in me before my blood pressure came back to almost normal. Coffe, tea, soda does not = water. I've noticed for me that vaping is extremely dehydrating. I'm probably on the edge to begin with. There's a number of medications that can add to dehydration too.

Electrolytes are a science in themselves. I'm not going to pretend I understand squat about them. I just know of a friend of mine who's had them out of balance and it's a serious battle to keep them up. If she doesn't keep them up, she passes out and it could mean death. I have no idea if that's average (for the problem), extreme or unique. It's one of those things that (knock on wood) I'm glad I haven't had to deal with. I know electrolytes can affect heart health (among other things) and that can cause swelling too. There's a number of tests, like putting pressure on the swollen area and see if it leaves a white mark, or bounces back that tells medical people what might be causing the swelling. Stuff like this is so individual.

So many fun topics ... LOL!

Happy, happy happy!!!

Do you all remember back a couple of months when I made my first bottle of DIY Caramel Pear Black Tea? It was just meh that first week so I put it aside. I just broke the bottle back out after 2 months and loaded up my R91 with it. It is better than just vapeable. It is pretty good. I did alter the original recipe a bit but this is a good starting point if you guys want to play.

All TFA flavorings.
Mixed to a 12mg 70pg/30vg base.
5% Black Tea
5% Caramel Original
5% Pear
No sweeteners or anything else. Simple.

I started with 5% black tea, 4% pear and 3% caramel. I had to add the additional pear and caramel after that first week, the tea was too dominate so I evened it all out at 5% each flavor. Then put it aside and forgot about it.

It will not put Ahlusion out of business but it is good enough that I can load up the r91 with it and vape a tank of it without making a face. It tastes pretty good. Now maybe I can try out that rayon wicking.

Hello stranger. I thought you'd been out dancing and forgot about us. LOL! So glad to hear your on your way with the doctors. The PAD might be diabetes related, which I didn't see on your list (hint unless you just forgot). I'm glad it sounds like your doctor approves of vaping. IME (experience) when I feel better, it's easier to stick with a vaping routine - any change of habit is easier when feeling ok. Changing habits when feeling like crap is overwhelming. I hope you'll be feeling better soon.

I love Uncles suggestions for pills. I've been looking for containers for different heads that I could keep in a mini toolbox I have with daily vaping supplies. Those just might work nicely. I had been looking at small tackle containers, but I think I like these better. My house is over run with vape gear and I'm not in it like most everyone else.

First, I would like to say Hello and welcome to all the new family members!

For those that don't know me, I haven't been around much, I get sick often,

For those that do know me, I have finally been to the Doctor! I am now on 6 meds, none for pain, just 6 things I had to start taking, for Diabetes and HIgh blood pressure, On WellButrin to try to stop smoking, with vaping allowed and liked by the Doctor.
I am getting referrals to another 6 Doctors, most important right now Pain Management, so I go to that on THursday, I have to go to a Cardiologist, I have something called PAD, among my problems. Gastroenterologist for my problem swallowing, I have wheezing so I have to be checked for COPD, and, as if the fun will never stop the GYN as well.

The meds make me tired, I thought it was my imagination but, no, they make me tired about 45 minute after I take them.

Had to get a huge pill organizer, I hope I can keep them all straight!

Vaping more since I absolutely have to quit or I will die for sure. Not willing to go at this age! Fighting on.

Haven't been doing as much with contests either, my back has been sick since I fell, so I am not feeling great to sit up that long.
Still have to get a tablet so I can lay down and still be online!

Well that's my drive by, and I miss and love you all!

I didn't have time to read past the last two pages because I can't sit that long, not editing so hopefully I speeled right!

Yup. That's probably a good sign. LOL!

I don't know how people can keep up with dual coils, drippers etc without doing DIY. Just the kanger mega has double my juice needs. it's frightening $$$ wise.

The rayon is better than ceramic?

Strange maybe but I thought about getting the Russian just to match this new mod that FT got in (in 18350 mode)
$19.45 King II Style Mechanical Mod - stainless steel / matte / 18350/18500/18650 at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

I didn't realize how obsessed I am with how things look until vaping.

Yes, I think it is *very* individual; not everyone, not even a majority of vapers, seem to suffer the "swollen feet/ankles" problem; maybe because they kept their hydration up so the electrolytes never got so messed up. I was also "on the edge" of dehydration even when I started, or maybe even way past the edge; I know I've struggled with painful leg cramps in my sleep for many, many years, so I expect that's because of dehydration -- maybe worsened by all those many cups of black tea every day; tea is kinda like beer, you don't buy it, you just rent it. :D

Your friend's problem sounds on the extreme side, but again, it's so individual; I know that many years ago, when I was hospitalized for a serious infection, a nurse told me that severe electrolyte imbalance can lead to heart attack, since the heart depends on electric impulses in order to keep pumping in rhythm. I'm glad I finally figured out how to deal constructively with mine; massive heart attack would be my preferred exit, rather than dying by inches in a hospital, but I'm only 53! I'd rather put off that end for a few decades. :D With vaping rather than smoking, that "few decades" might even be possible. :thumb:

Sorry to hear about the poor toothies. Big Ouch!!! Good for you that your vaping stuff is ready to go. This does sound like a good time to try vape only for at least a few days and try to build on that. Hope you feel better soon.

I appreciate your sympathies. To be honest, the pain hasn't been that bad. Dentist gave me loritab. Took one as the novacaine wore off and one before I went to bed last night. Took only ibuprofen today, because I didn't think working with power tools + hydrocodone was a good idea. Didn't really have much pain except a twinge here and there. Might take one tonight, because I remember from my wisdom teeth that it is at night with my laid down that the throbbing started. Long story short, pain hasn't been bad at all.

But I am over 24 hours without a cigarette. Had a trigger/stress-er about an hour ago. But having 25 hours behind me, I was like, nahhh, I am doing too well at this moment. I vaped thru it, prayed, found some peace and still going strong.

And yes, the fear of dry socket did help me get over that craving. Other than that, I haven't had any STRONG cravings. Just a little pull here and there. Of course, it doesn't hurt I am sub-ohming 24mg juice either. Lol. Talk about freebasing.
Which I don't know how I am doing that. Due to throat hit and the overabundance of vapor, I had dialed back my juice to 8mg before I picked up analogs again. Anything above 10mg would make me cough hard. I dunno, maybe I am not taking huge lung hits either. Either way, I am sub-ohming at 24 and already gone through about 10ml today.

(Did I mention as a smoker I am a three pack a day smoker? On really stressful days, I have been known to go thru a pack in less than two hours. So I am not in any danger of vaping that quantity and level of nic.)

I agree with paying attention to the ones you don't smoke. What I used to do when I was really craving (which now I just try to ignore and chain vape) is smoke a couple drags and put the cigarette out, the charcoal taste was a self-defense deterrent against lighting the cigarette again and I didn't want to just throw it out either.

Also, being cooped up in a vehicle for 12 hrs that reeked of tobacco smoke made wanting to quit and "clear the air" seem like a great deal. Harsh, yes... but we all beat our heads against the wall differently.

* * * *

About upping the nicotine (for those that can) it was a great help for me to have 24mg or even 36mg juice (in small quantities) around and a dripper ready to go for when I just couldn't stand it anymore and needed a fix.

Even on an Ego, a mini dripper ($10 or less) can be a quick way out of a cigarette when you really need it; and even just a few mg up on the ladder for a few drags can give you the push you need to catch your breath and get back on the routine. Even after almost a month I pack a dripper daily with an off-ADV ejuice in case of emergencies, you never know when you will need a superhero lol!

Just a note: Don't drip and drive... [emoji41]

Yeah, I had mentioned I started wrapping my own coils on an IGO-L. I got that because it was one of the few RDAs that got a thumbs up on the forum for use with an Ego.
Worked good for a long time, before I finally made the jump to mod town.
But yes, it did change my whole vaping experience. Better flavor as well as being more effective at getting through the cravings.

Ego + small, simple dripper (like the IGO-L). I second that.

Just a note on polishing various metals since I'm a chrome and all things shiny junky...

My truck rims, in and out of a coal mine nearly 40 times in every 24 hrs and they still sparkle.

My "testing" rim (cast aluminum but I have tests on brass, copper and stainless as well) is a *scrap* rim damaged in the line of duty. The black marks are spray paint to mark it as "out-of-service".

Not to brag, the reason I mention it is that Brasso and similar products have a rather high VOC content, meaning you need good ventilation when using them; by contrast what I use is very low VOC and for the amount you use almost certainly cheaper. A bottle that will do an entire truck-worth of rims is less than $20, and its protective to boot. Simple to use, rub it on... rub it off lol [emoji38]

What is it that you use or recommend for brass?

I am very happy with the looks and vape of my Provari Mini in satin black and my Russian 91%. I have been hearing no problems about the R91 since they started putting the v1 pins in the v2 so you should be good there.

I can not get into the mechs. Some of them are quite beautiful but they would be dangerous for me. I am very bad about minding my battery levels. I have to have a regulated mod, period, for safety if for no other reason. I also like being able set dial in the voltage I want for my individual taste. I am not good enough at making coils and wicking to keep up with retooling an rba all the time.

Juice consumption with the Russian is insane. It holds 4.5ml and I go through 2 and a half tanks a day. And this is Ahlusion juice so it is costing me a fortune. I only used around 3ml a day when I dripped on my 510 attys. Now that I am using the r91 I am not using the 510 attys except for taste testing and occasional change of flavors for an hour or so. The vape does not taste as good to me anymore on them. Or maybe I am just lazy.

I am thrilled that I made a juice I can vape. This is the only real way that I can keep vaping at the level I am. Make my own juice. I think a lot of the people who are vaping these double coil and low ohm setups are making their own juice or have a cheap source.

Now to get this kitchen finished so I can make some more juice. So in the next month or so I can start trying to make a few flavors I like. I have found I do not need 20 different flavors going at a time like some people. Just a few is fine for me.

That mech is nice and clean looking. It also looks like it would go with the r91 finish. Hard to tell from pictures, especially when they are not together.

So Aikanae did you ever get the vape case you won? How is it? Do you like it? Do I need one? Must I have one? Will I shrivel up and die inside if I don't order one ASAP?

You mustve heard me thinking about you. I still haven't picked out my new phone and I'm so ticked with Apple ID hassles that I'm seriously considering a Samsung which won't work in the case .... (Your first in line) What I can say is that it seems very well built and solid. I was surprised. I didn't even think about trying it on the 4S iphone.

I might mention there is a little added pressure to get this phone thing over with now that I've lost mine (another crisis - who backs up phone numbers?)

Androids automatically backup to Google servers if you are signed into your account (it prompts you to during setup of phone and can be added later if skipped). I think if you have ever attached your iphone to your computer there is a backup somewhere. Not sure if you have to do it or its automatic.

Oh Apple's full of backups. They just all require Apple ID's. Their cloud is attached to the old .me accounts which transfered from the old .mac accounts. Who knows what password I used back then. Itunes is an even earlier account. I must have 5-9 different ID's and passwords with essential Apple stuff. None of them can be merged. I thought we (me and the Apple store clerk) reset everything once - nope, missed a few. What we did do took over 45 minutes. And nothing was reset from the computer so I couldn't even synch it once. That's another backup gone. There's a chance some stuff was stored in the cloud from when it was reset but I'd have to go to the store to get it. I don't even want to get into that.

I know this hated phone is around here, probably right under my nose. I tend to break or loose things I don't like, not intentionally. I know that's what's happened. Let's face it, I'd rather buy a REO in the classies than a new phone. My how my priorities have changed!

I must have something for Leo's. There's about 10 bdays within the next few weeks too. All this stuff just interferes with my vaping life. LOL!
