Yes, you were certainly there when I needed you with the hardwood refinishing. And I greatly appreciate it. Little do you know that you probably kept me out of jail during that time. lol

Hey all. Let me introduce Hemptation. Met him over on Provari Saloon thread. He is a Contractor (artisan) and a Gentleman. And he vapes. Good people.

I sorry. Lol. At least I was there when you needed me. I don't horde the knowledge and just make people pay for it. I share it willingly and for free You are almost there tho. Always seems like the end is the most stressful part. But you will survive. I def want to see pictures of the end product.

Best advice I can tell anyone doing a remodel
Is to plan plan plan. Of you get organized and shop for products and contractors. You can get exactly what you want without blowing the budget. Just requires you to be Involved. Seems like y'all are already there.

Hope they didn't sale your slabs That would be horrible

I took it as a compliment btw. Lol

And better than a computer tech. My house is full of open computers. At the moment I have all of 2 that will actually start up all the way. My desktop and my laptop. I have the parts for all of them to work properly just never enough time.
Can you guess what happens if you marry a truck driver and have to deal with tools, truck parts and various pieces of chrome and chrome polish in various places?

Happy with my galaxy se for now. Will get something newer at some point. Preferably waterproof and drop resistance due to child (my new laptop has child protection warranty, anything he could do to it is covered, including liquid damage for the next 2 years and by then ill probably have bought a new one. Or he will have damaged it and ill get a replacement).

Child had check up today. They lowered his lasix to once a day, then in 2 weeks we stop it. Meaning I can buy 1/4 the diapers needed now. And he can go swimming now. Just not on lasix because sunlight inyerferes with the meds (makes him overheat quickly in sunlight). So swimming in 2 weeks
Yeah so glad to hear all the great news! Poor little one!

Yay it's Friday, first week back almost done! Whew I need another vacation!
Andria way to got great accomplishment!
I am holding at six a day.... Not bad considering!

Well today is my first day smoke-free; I've been vaping 11.5mg since I woke up about a half hour ago, and it seems to be doing the job, no cravings.

Last night my husband goes "oh yeah, tomorrow, you're gonna try to not smoke." I just looked at him and said "try not, young skywalker, do or not do!" :D

And there ladies and gents is the secret to marriage... [emoji41]

My daughter just got married last month. At the rehearsal dinner we all got our "presents" - Mine was a T-shirt that says simply, "Yes Dear".

I wear it with pride. It was a bit awkward when I was walking down the hall to the honeymoon suite, along with the groom (who was wearing his T-shirt that said "Groom"). The cleaning ladies all giggled! (He does have a cute ...., though....)

What parts are you expecting to find, other than the arm?

Hi, AndriaD!

Although I've been on this thread a lot, it's been more difficult to find the time lately. Not sure if I ever sent you a welcome, so Welcome, and glad you're here!! I have been lurking and wanted to respond to several of your posts, but when I'm 10 pages behind it's sometimes a risk to reply until I can catch up! (It's not really better to keep my mouth shut lest folks realize I am a fool... pretty much everybody here already knows...).

As to your wood cabinets - I would say "Do whatever you can to keep them!!!" New cabinets are either made of wood, and extroardinarily expensive (even though they weigh the same as a duck), or of particle-board. Look at re-facing them instead (where they leave the structure intact, and just put new doors and hardware on). And save the old doors! It might be different where you are, but up here wood cabinets are worth their weight in oak.

With all that, I forgot the whole reason I wanted to respond to you in the first place.

Here's how I deal with smoking/not-smoking/vaping. I do hope it helps.

At any point in time, I am free to decide to smoke, or to vape. Sometimes I decide to smoke. Sometimes I decide to vape. I get satisfaction when I vape more (and smoke less). When I find myself smoking more, I just try to shift the balance. I don't do "that's the last cigarette I'll ever smoke" - it just makes me want to smoke another one. I don't feel guilty about smoking, or even how much I smoke. I like vaping, and I know that vaping will replace smoking in my life. But it will take a little time, and there will be some smoking involved, for me at least. I will get there in the end, but trying to force it doesn't help me, and feeling bad about smoking DEFINITELY doesn't help me. But that's me. YMMV. (Jeez, I love that phrase - it forgives every sin, right?)

Hi to all I haven't responded to in a while; life is crazy here too!

That's my exact feeling; I'd rather have wood than particle-board, so I think either painting or re-facing is the way to go, for the cabinets themselves. Definitely want granite countertops though, and I'd like new drawers that have the ball-bearings, rather than these plain-wood sliders.

Yeah I'm not going to do that "I'm never smoking again!" thing this time; I saw how that worked out for me already. :D But I knew I could get smoke-free again with just a modicum of effort, so that's what I've been doing all week, gradually whittling down the number smoked per day, while increasing the vaping, till finally the vapor tasted "right" to me again, and the cigarettes tasted like... well, less than stellar. :D I really really like throat hit, but the cigarettes were starting to actually *burn* my mouth, so I figured the time had arrived.

I made it thru my pre-breakfast phase, which was always the hardest for me, using that 11.5mg; after breakfast I went to my regular Virginia, this particular batch mixed to about 9.5 or 10mg, and it's working fine; no cravings! YAY! I'm also doing a bunch of laundry today, so I have things to occupy me rather than staring at a computer screen all day :D and that should help a lot too -- and get rid of lots of piles of dirty clothes while I'm at it! Everything got backed up when I was so ill, and just now getting motivated to get all that laundry caught up. ;)

Thx!
Andria

Just stopping in to say hi. I've made it through the stress of buying a new car without even wanting to smoke and I'm really proud of myself for that.

Cliff got the letter yesterday telling him his SS disability IS continuing with periodic checks to see if there has been any change and IF they need anything else they will contact him. This was the best possibility in the checkmark area. this review of his disability has been even more stressful than buying the car. lol

One more trip to the dealer to get the poly steel applied inside and out and then everything can calm down to a slight roar around here. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since he blew up the race car and he still hasn't had a chance to get it and the trailer moved over to the other house where his garage is, I can't wait to have that 20' trailer out of the driveway so I can park my black car somewhere other than under the power lines where the birds perch.

Andria,

What I think is AMAZING about e-ciggs is that, as opposed to any other quitting method, I can smoke a cigarette, and it doesn't turn me back into a smoker. I once went 14 months, cold-turkey. It was really hard! Hit a bit of stress and was right back to a pack-a-day in an instant. That experience hammered in the fact that I could never "quit" cigarettes. All I could think was "I suck, I'm such an idiot, loser, pathetic addict, etc. etc. etc...."

Vaping is such an unbelievable godsend for me!!! I CAN smoke a cig without going back to a PAD. And I can (unbelievably!!!) forget to smoke for a day or even two! Still working on three, but it's coming. I Like vaping, and as I get better at it I like it more.

Have a great evening!

Well, I dunno... for me, when I had smoked about 5-10 cigarettes out of the first pk I bought on June 22... I was back to being a smoker. Maybe not nearly as heavy a smoker as I would have been without some vaping going on too (normally in the summer I smoke 25-30 a day, but was holding it to less than 15 a day), but definitely a smoker. It took me 3 1/2 wks to make up my mind again NOT to be a smoker, just 'cause it's such a long-standing habit for me, I guess -- 39 yrs is like 3/4 of my life! It's true I had to work out some issues, like my dehydration/electrolyte problem, and reacquiring the taste for vapor vs. cigarettes, and yeah, maybe that awful IBS I suffered after the appendectomy benefitted greatly from smoking actual cigarettes... but what it really took was just for me to make up my mind to do it, and that was really the hard part. "Try not, young skywalker... do or not do!" :D

I got a Ms. T's banner again, since it can figure actual hours instead of just days; I had to finagle it, to get the hours correct since my last smoke, but the number shown is accurate. Around 1am eastern daylight time, it will be 24 hrs.
