510So I have just had an enormous DUH... moment. I have been not loving my 510 attys for the last couple of months. I thought the muted, stiff vape from them (and flooding) was due to me loving my Russian 91s. Made a big discovery.

During the mixing process of some DIY juice I needed to test with a 510 atty. Took the drip shield off and cleaned it and decided to test new flavors without the drip shield. Ta da!!!! 510 atty is tasting better, vape is much improved. Just like I remembered it being before my r91 ugrade. So no more drip shields. I received my drip shields with my first Provari right after Christmas so I have been mourning my loss of love for the 510 attys for months. So very happy to know that I still love my 510 attys and just not loving the drip shields.

Now I know why all the Mr.Mann camp drippers tend to not use them. Screw looks, I want a great vape. So back to basics again. Sometimes the basics give you the best vape. All the bells and whistles may not be necessary all the time.

A good solid device, a good, easy to use atty and quality juice are the perfect recipe.

Couple more questions.

Does the nic base (60mg in pg) that I take out of the freezer have to be room temperature before I can take 30ml out of it. Ran out of room temp nic so need to go to the freezer to finish my second 30ml mix.

What ml is cc's on a syringe? Is it the same as ml markings? I am not a math type person and I tried to measure the difference with water. It seems to be one ml equals one cc. Is this right? Do not want to screw up the diy, especially the nicotine. I have a 5ml syringe and a 12cc syringe. Would be quicker and easier to do some of the measuring with the 12cc syringe but need to keep the amounts right.

So it will not hurt to take off some just out of the freezer as long as I leave at least 5ml space in the 30ml bottle?

I thought that ml=cc but was not sure. Thank you.

Seems like I am a sloppy Diy chef. I am having trouble getting the liquids up into the syringes. It is ok to be semi perfect with the flavors and pg and vg, but I need to practice this to be very accurate with the nic base. This has me decided to not go to using 100mg nic. I will stick with 60mg tops.

This first bottle of 60mg nic base is in pg. I am seeing lots of people buying it now in vg. What is the difference? Does one hold up better in the freezer than the other. I have done some reading about it and it just seems to be what the person prefers rather than a quality issue. I am not buying quantities to hoard, just to use, so I am not worried about it lasting for years.

1ml = 1cc.
But cold/frozen nic base might expand a bit once it gets to room temp.

Well, I did pretty good for about three days. As soon as my jaw was healed up enough to handle smoking, I fell off the wagon. That was last night.
But it wasn't simply that I got past the "dry socket" window. Had a rough couple nights. So going on diminished sleep and all the stuff going on, I ended up smoking a pack and a half from last night to today.

Not really complaining. Just kind of giving an update. Don't like people left in the dark after I told them one thing then the situation changes.

Point is I went three days without a cigarette. I put the other half of the second pack far away from me outside and am vaping again. I am not saying I am never going to smoke again. Just saying I am reminded from the last three days that I can do better, I really DO enjoy vaping more and I don't have to give up after a slip. Nothing I didn't already know. Just when you go through so many slips, it's nice to have a win.
Also keeping the cigs outside - I am probably going to end up smoking when I am outside for extended periods of time, at least while my situation is what it is (with everything going on). But keeping them outside where I work is going to GREATLY diminish my smoking.
Plus living in Vegas, they will probably be pretty dry by morning. Dry cigarettes are always a deterrent to smoking. lol

I am considering those three days a win.
I am considering putting the second half of the second pack outside a win.
Even with my slip last night and this morning, I am vaping more, which is a win.

Thank y'all for being here

The rocket in the middle, is that a Zmax?

Also have to agree with Shari. Having the right gear and juice helps immensely. I don't know anyone who doesn't really enjoy vaping more than smoking. Keeping that on the forefront of our minds does help.

Kudos to you.

You're right, and I had much better stuff this time than when I quit in Feb -- using an eRoll! :D And a lot of good ejuice too!

This is my current arsenal:

July25arsenal.jpg

On the left -- apple/cinnamon 11mg,
On the right, blueberry muffin, about 8.5mg
And the rocket in the middle is the ADV Virginia. It was filled with 9.5mg earlier, but I vaped about half of it, so I refilled with some 6.5mg for the evening -- in the morning, before we go up to my folks', I'll top it off again with some 10mg.

Shari-

I buy a higher vg content only because I like a higher vg juice. Not sure about longevity...

Are you using syringes with needles. Unless I am using a fill hole on a tank or something, I never use needles. Takes forever to fill a syringe with a needle, unless you are using a really low numbered gauge.

I started buying VG base because I sub-ohm. Sub-ohm greatly increases throat hit. Ergo sub-ohmers end up reducing nic content and pg content as much as possible to diminish the throat-hit. (Also gives you a quicker nic absorbtion which also causes a reduction of nic level. A nic level you were used to will suddenly become too strong when you are vaping it in huge clouds.) Even when I have a coil around 1 ohm, I still prefer to use a high vg mix.
Since sub-ohming hit a peak of popularity a couple months back, I think that is why so many people went VG base. Or at least one reason. IMHO
I guess also there are more and more people I hear complaining about reactions with PG in general.

I haven't heard anything about it keeping in the freezer better though.

JUST AN FYI:

Yes Uncle, its the same thing. If you prefer the menthol instead of mint just pull down the mint.

As for the flavors I get mine from TFA, great shipping and "trial" sizes (4ml flavor concentrate) are about $1.50 (at last purchase).

THANKS ! ! ! Appreciate the information . . . :D

So the baby due in November is a girl :)

.....and my daughter is expecting too ....in February.....she's mad because we tell her it's a boy - we have no baby boys.

CONGRATULATIONS ! ! !

The fact that you came back here and shared is also a win. Do not worry about it. The longer and more you vape the less you may smoke. I know people that after a while, could be a week or months, they just one day forget that they have not had a cigarette for several days. You are doing the little things that will make it easier for you to cut down on the smoking. Good for you!

I am a little embarrassed to even say how this Diy session went. I only mixed juice up 2 times before. It has been a couple of months so I had to figure it out all over again. I could not get the top off the syringe to use the needle so I just took the whole needle assembly off and tried syringe that way. Was fine with the flavors but had trouble with the pg since I could not get the syringe body into the bottle so I tipped it and held it to make a semi seal. Real messy and a Pain in the Bottom. Then I put too much of one flavor in one bottle and could not remember which one it was.

That taught me that I need to make one bottle at a time. Evidently my mind no longer multi tasks as well as it used to. Still came out good though. But I need to come up with a system to follow, better than what I did today.

Yep, a Sigelei Zmax v3. I've heard the v3s are being phased out now, in favor of the v5s, since they came out with the high wattage devices, so I'm glad I got my v3 while DesertVapes had them for $39.95!

These make life much easier ;) I only use syringes for flavoring.

213C2 Karter Scientific Glass Graduated Cylinder 3 Piece Set 10, 50 & 100ml Karter Scientific http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006UKICQS/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_03h1tb05SFM50

I lay out all my empty bottles then add nic base to all them followed by pg/vg followed by sweetener/additives (like AP, smooth, mts) then do individual flavors one bottle at a time.

That is a great idea, Top. I tend to overthink stuff and make it more difficult than it needs to be.

Shari, maybe a check list per bottle that you check of each step? Like set the bottle on the paper and write steps below then check off as you complete it? Was how my first diy attempts went. Still have the liquid stained paper in the notebook lol

Those look nice Lox. But I do not understand how they are to be used. Maybe I am too tired and confused. Are you mixing all the pg/vg for all the bottles at one time? Like making a base mix? When I use the ejuice me up, all the percentages for all the different bottles I am making are all different. I am totally misunderstanding something here. I am still in kindergarten for this diy stuff.

I am amazed that I made something I really like right off the bat since we all know how fussy of a vaper I am. I am dripping the Caramel Pear Black Tea I made today and with the flavors all at 5% it is vaping very nice. I am happy. The black tea is not real present so I will probably have to bump that up a little. I will give it a couple of weeks to see how it ages.

Hey all. I didn't know this thread existed or I probably would have started posting in it sooner. I, too, am guilty of vaping and smoking. I went a long time without participating in the forums due to this. I felt like I was being a hypocrite. But here I am. I can't seem to kick the analog habit completely. I've been vaping for almost four years and when I started I was between 2 - 3 PAD... but now am at ~6-10 analogs per day. Think part of it is the juice I'm using, I don't feel stimulated at all from it.

I do feel rather ashamed though. I know I shouldn't... but it's definitely there.

I'd say if you've cut down from 2 or 3 pks a day to 6-10 cigarettes a day, you have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of!!! I'd give you a high-five if they had an icon like that! :D
