I found a K100 full kit at the local B&M - mod, batteries, charger, carto, case - the full shebang!

K100-SET-BLUE-2T.jpg

K100 Mechanical Mod Set Blue

I think it's gonna follow me home :D

Jim,
That's a great looking setup!

I think it's great that they provide a fuse with it. Haven't seen that before (am I just way out of touch???).

What is the head? Is it a straight carto system with a "decorative" shield around it, or is the head something else?

Looks great! Let us know how you like it!

im not sure if the fuse is commonly sold in kits now. my local vape shop is selling just the k100 with 1 battery and charger for 80. but has a magneto for 40.

yes, its just a carto with a decorative cover.

This is a great kit! Came with a charger, 18650 and 18350 batteries, fuse, and an extra carto. I've got the 18650 battery on the charger, and my multimeter showed 3.7v on the 18350, so they were at least partially (mostly?) charged.

The carrying case is much bigger than the eGo case I got with my first starter kit. I really like that for coil storage and some juice for dripping or filling a clearo. In fact, I think my eGo case will fit INSIDE this one :D

I found VapingGreek's video and he recommended adding an o-ring to the eGo threads since it might leak. I think I should be okay as long as I use unpunched cartomizers though. I'll have to keep an eye on my Octopus. My EVOD clearos will fit like a dream according to him too...yahoo!

Does battery orientation matter? I think I saw in the video just stick the magnet on the fuse to the top side of the battery and install.

I'm excited!! :vapor:

Total out the door was less than $50 with 10ml of my favorite juice from that vendor (not my ADV, but really good).

I'm around, too much arthritis in my hands to type...happy v day to all of you!

Feel better Karen, we miss you! :)

Nice collection going on there. The K100 fits in nicely. I've drooled over wood mods but so far, haven't crossed paths with one yet.

Actually, that's not a wood mod, it's a Boy Scout neckerchief slide that my EVOD VV fits in nicely as a stand.

It would make a pretty cool mod though!

Went to bowling night with my girlfriend last night. Had half a dozen smokers ask about my evic. Its bigger than the ego they are used to seeing. They loved the flavors I was using. They all were directed to ecf for info on devices to find the best deal/what fits what they are looking for.

Helping a friend order something this weekend. He wants vv/vw and large battery life.

I would suggest the vape safe fuse but mine burned out on factory coils (i-30) after a day and I have no trouble since.

I would suggest a multimeter ($10 RadioShack, Walmart etc) and some practice with it. Handy for testing batteries on the fly as well as coil resistances. Alligator clip wires, also known as jumper wires, are great if you want to get really geeky with coils and such.

My only big suggestion would be to make sure you have a good quality charger for any lithium ion battery and remember that they are not meant to just be left on a charger unattended. Remember that these are the same batteries that caught fire in electric cars (thus the vent holes in mods for the event of a thermal meltdown, literally). I can suggest the Efest LUC charger since its been flawless in several months.

As far as the mod, my k101 has been great (simply a different outside design) and can hit like a freight train or just keep it smooth depending on the Atty or coil. And tough, yeah it bounces in my cupholder all night long.

Hope it works great for you.

I have a k100, multimeter and know battery safety. I have an I4 charger and the batteries chsrge within eye sight so I take them off within a few minutes of being charged. Im working on getting my coils small enough to fit into my protank heads and still work like I want them to. Coils on my drippers are fine.

Jim,

While electrically the battery orientation shouldn't matter (unless you're using a kick) mechanically it's designed for the + end to be at the top. It will probably work better that way even though they look like flat-top batts from the picture. Batteries are usually shipped at between 50% and 90% charged.

When it comes to coil building I've been using a tried a true method that I'm sure is in videos that are all over the internet: I thread a pin through 2 mm (or 1 or 3) silica and then wrap 32g kanthal around it freehand in a micro-coil fashion. This is easily accomplished freehand, with no jig needed.

I will then torch it, and connect (screw) it into the device. I then carefully remove the pin while holding the coil secure and remove the extra kanthal by just gently pulling while moving the wire in a circle. Trim the wick as needed and then you're ready to go after an Ohm check and dry fire.

Protank heads are even easier using this method. Wrap the wick, pull the pin out, and place it in the head. I've found that using one 2mm coiled wick with, two 1mm flavor wicks on top have worked best for me after trying numerous combinations of 1,2, and 3 mm wicks.

I have yet to try cotton (it's on my to do list) but definitely favor regular silica over braided so called eko wool. YMMV

lol i just bend a bobbypin outwards put my wick acrossed it and wrap my coil around it cant get much thinner than that
