Thank you Uncle for that. I do a lot of reading and think I understand something, then do more reading and get myself totally confused. Then I start the cycle again. I do the same stuff anytime I try to do Math. Kind of like a Pavlov's dog thing. Say the word math or start spouting off numbers and my brain switch goes into OFF mode.

Now that I really want to learn this stuff and understand it, it is quite a frustrating phenomena.

"You're' Welcome . . . :D

YA' THINK ! ! ! While I understand a lot of "Stuff", I just cannot get "My" head around most of the things discussed here on ECF when it concerns DIY (although I am a good cook/use to work with mixing chemicals all day long) or APV/mods and rba/rda or some of the more advanced things when it comes to Volts/Wattage/OHMS, etc . . . AND - To be very honest - I DON'T WANT TO EITHER, especially since it gets "Me" extremely frustrated and then the anxiety starts to set in again . . . SO - I decided it is best for "Me" to leave all that kinda of "Stuff" alone and concentrate more on finding the right equipment, how to use what I have, and finally find the ADV for "Me" . . . That is more then enough . . . Just Sayin' . . . :D

Now - Just remember "Schnarph" can help ya though what "You" NEED to know (He has seen the post here and since he has given it a "like" it looks like he is willing too) and I know he will keep the information simple then what Ya' saw in his blogs . . . Just send him a PM anytime "You" feel the need and want some help he will walk Ya' though it . . . :D

Oh, I wholeheartedly agree with you. But the 510 attys that I do solely rely on for the Taste that satisfies me are not going to be available any more at a price I am able to maintain and I am feeling constricted by the 3 drop at a time regimen. So I bought a Provari to allow myself the freedom of having a mod that I can change batteries in, then I was graciously gifted an Igo-L with a beautiful coil built at 2.2ohms with real cotton for wicking. I have been spoiled and ruined. I will never be a virgin again.

So I am on the great quest for the knowledge to build my own coils and acquire a Russian 91% so that I can have that great dripping taste while being mobile and not chained to a juice bottle.

Sometimes it is not a good thing to have a taste of the better things. I am one of those people who can not be satisfied with less flavorful evod now. I know, spoiled and unashamed of it.

Actually, outside of purchasing a motherlode of juices to try, I think I have been very conservative and my wants are conservative. I have several spinners, one MVP2, and one Provari Mini. I do not want any other mods and have no desire to buy more. I have 4 or 5 juices I love from 2 different vendors so I am no longer on the great juice hunt. I love my little 510 attys but have been looking for a tank version of that taste. I think I found it with the Igo-L and self built coils, and that the Russian 91% (or a Kayfun Lite+) will provide that mobile vape with the dripping flavor.

So I think I am close to being set for a long time. I was going to start playing with DIY for my juices, but now it looks like I have to learn coil building first. So I will be busy for a while.

I know I am rambling. Thank you all for listening. I will see if I am making sense when I read this back later, and tomorrow. Guess what! Whether or not I am making sense, I am not smoking and do not want a cigarette. So I am happy.

I smoked 6 analog cigarettes today. I am finding that I just can't seem to give up my morning, wake up, cigarette and my before bed one. Then today all the flavor went away and so the vapor wasn't as satisfying to me so I smoked 4 more. Still not as bad as before last week when I started vaping, I was a PAD smoker. When I first got my kit, the first e-juice I purchased was menthol since I am a menthol smoker. I HATED it and preferred the fruity ones I got. The menthol was put up in the cabinet and I thought I would never get it out again, but I am using it now. I thought if I can't taste anything, now is the best time to use it. And you know what? It is hitting the spot tonight!!! It may yet be the juice to get me off the stinkies :)

I'm too stressed and worn out right now, we've had an eventful night with the storm, power outs, tree branches breaking from the weight of, etc.
But watching viedos helps me more than reading all of the technical stuff, for me building coils 1 ohm or more with my goal of 1.3 and 1.5 and not cranking the watts up to some ridiculous numbers and knowing basic battery safety and being careful not to discharge them too low is enough to worry about to start. Reading and trying to understand all of it makes coil building seem far more difficult than it really is. Just sit down and practice wrapping a nlice tight coil and it will all start falling into place.

Thank you for that explanation. It does help some. I think I am going to go through the same mental blocks that I went through for the volts/watts/ohms explanations and understanding. I have an idea of the concept but beats the hell out of me still to know if I want to use 28 or 30 gauge wire or which coil is better. I have a feeling that I am just going to have to jump in and start winding coils and see if I can make something I can get to read on my Provari and then see if I can vape it. Some stuff I think you have to get hands on with and I think for me, my understanding is going to come with just doing it. I better buy BIG rolls of wire. This is going to take a while. lol

I just wish my eyes did not glaze over and my mind get foggy when I start reading technical stuff. Some people are just not math and numbers people. I want to be but have to work real hard at it. I am going to be a mad scientist. (clapping hands)

Not sure on how the Russian is set up since its outside the price I'm willing to spend right now but the aga-t2 can be done with a "simple" u-wick and coil on silica and has great flavor with a 3 ml tank

Congrats on even taking the first step. The juice will tend to lose its flavor from time to time... dunno why it just happens. I might suggest pinkspotvapors.com as they offer the choice to add menthol to almost anything

I hear ya Claudia, if you're looking for some good info take a look at mcvapes on YouTube.

For me adding .3 to .5 more of an ohm is a wrap to 2 depending on the gauge of wire

Per your suggestion I spent the afternoon reading all the material offered in that blog. I have never and do not ever want to chase clouds of vapor but I based my decision on my personal feelings. Having read all about it I now know that I do not have a death wish and having spent a lot of years with my face I don't want to exchange it for a bundle of bloody bandages. I have ordered a mech mod in case the FDA does unspeakable things to the vaping community but micro and nano coils and huge clouds of vapor are not on my bucket list. Thanks for the info.

Lulu, with reference to cloud chasing and the like I totally understand and was actually in the same position about a month ago. Seeing someone blow out massive clouds of vapor to me actually seemed (and still does to some degree) as a bit of a waste. Simply put, the whole point of having nicotine in the juice is to inhale it and thereby remove the need for smoking something full of deadly chemicals. Also, part of smoking for me is/was the feeling of my lungs being full when I inhaled. With the batteries I started with this couldn't happen in just a single puff with standard coils and there is a limit to how long the button can be held in for a single puff (as well as battery damage and the possibility of fire, burns, tank/Atty damage...) in a multi-press or extended length puff and knowing a bit about that when you start with your mech and rebuilding that's all stuff you will want to know about.

So yes, I understand you, what I discovered when learning to rebuild is that some of the easier coils to build tend to make large amounts of vapor. I am not by any means done learning but since it was the first option I learned I moved to cloud chasing as a means of showing the effectiveness of the coils I had made as well as the quality of my juice since I diy my own. The third component is the longevity of my battery, and for me if it won't make it 12 hrs it needs to go since that's my average work shift.

Now, while all that is long winded, I would invite you to take a look at all the styles of coils that are commonly built as they all have a purpose. The "maxi" coils I make are great for my style of vaping because I can't settle on just a single flavor all day long (also why I drip). And the micro coils, multi-coils (aka show off pieces/cloud chasers) and even steel mesh coils all have an application that you may find you like or have a use for at some point.

Well, I am cooling my jets today, currently watching the pretty snow come down. Not going out. Nobody, including me, can drive in this stuff out here. I used to be a good snow and bad weather driver when I lived back in CT, but since being here for over 10 years I find I have lost that skill or the desire to test it.

They just opened a Nashville Vapor shop in the same area as the CVS and Hobby Lobby so when I do get out I will go there too. They are supposed to stock the kanthal wire. I know I will pay more for it, but I will get a bit of the 28ga and 30ga and try to figure out the difference and which I prefer to make coils out of.

Is there a thread or site someone knows of that I can go to to learn about what gauge wire to use and why a microcoil is better than a 4 or 5 wrap coil and why use 28ga instead of 30ga. Somewhere I can get this knowledge?

Actually, Nashvillve isn't but a few hours from me...

You've got vapors tongue.
http://www.cyclopsvapor.com/dealing-with-curing-vapers-tongue/
Add your tongue begins to wake you'll notice it's going to ruin the taste of your cigarettes so that might be what gets you to leave the ones you can't seem to kick. I'm coming out of it and this morning I tried to smoke one and it tasted so awful I thought I was going to puke. I threw it out less than half way through, had to swish Dr Pepper 10 (the real thing not vape juice) in my mouth to get the horrid taste away, then exhale and Milk Chocolate vapor through my nose to get it out of my nose.
Something not in the article that helped me a ton was press the vapor button, hold it for a second or 2, then draw in the vapor into my mouth as I continued to hold the button for about another second or 2, then quickly inhale (vs letting it stay in my mouth before inhale) , don't hold it in my lungs but exhale slowly with my mouth almost closed. What I discovered was tastes on the way in are/were muted but tastes on the way out are/were still there. Hope that makes sense. My aftertaste is still muted in juices but my sense of smell is making up for it with the scent my juice leaves in the room. I can't taste the aftertaste of chocolate again yet but I can smell it in the room, satisfying my chocolate craving. Sour is still muted all around but the cream in my Strawberry and Cream is richer than ever in the scent and exhale taste.
Hope that helps.

Oh Erised. I only liked this to acknowledge that I read your post. I hope your dog is not sick. This hacking business is getting ridiculous, from what I read if the US banks and cc companies would put those chips in their cards most of this problem would be avoided. Here again, greedy companies not wanting to put infrastructure dollars out to keep up with technology. Most of Europe has done it years ago. Same thing with the air traffic control gps type systems. Greedy and cheap and we, the consumer, are the ones that have to suffer. Bah!

Hope the doggie is ok and your day gets better.

Good Morning!

You're right Shari, it's definitely been quiet today - I need to post more, even on the slow days...

Denver's getting a reprieve from the bitter cold, and it hit almost 60 today. Almost like summer!

Now if I can just kick this darn cold that's been beating up on me. The sinus congestion and raw throat have made it hard to vape. 18mg and even 12mg hurts more than analogs, so I've fallen off the wagon a bit. Only 1/2 PAD, but still disheartening. I'm doing my best to not get angry at myself for it.

I also took a puff at my desk yesterday using my EVOD VV with an iTaste 16 on it and was embarrassed to see a cloud of vapor floating above the cubicle...need to practice my stealth vaping when I'm at work. Luckily nobody noticed it, or at least they didn't say anything. I think I should drop down to my EVOD clearos at the office. Less vapor, so easier to be stealthy. Co-workers have been supportive when they've seen my PV, but I still get self-conscious.

The factory coil on my Octopus finally shorted out too (only when the cap is on it), so guess I better get building if I want to drip at home :D

:vapor: hello everyone erised hope ur bank sorts out that ordeal, hope ur day gets better as it goes on:banana: well off to do some stuff bbl

OMG!!!! JJ, I think you sent me the entire VZ flavorings catalog! You knocked my sox off. THANK YOU. So now I have no more excuses to hold off on DIYing. Well, I need more empty bottles but that's an easy fix. Anyone wanna be guinea pigs? (those aren't the only flavorings I have)

I got fair warning yesterday. I didn't open the box right away and when I came home all the bottles were scattered all over the place. Oops. I guess Tootsie smelled something she really liked inside. She doesn't even tear wrapping when there's a bone for a present. She's shown no interest in eliquids before - I used to panic if I thought I left something out and I've gotten lazy. She didn't get into any of them, but it was a fright just the same. I guess pets are just as unpredictable as kids.

I wish my bills would take a snow day off.

I'm still dealing with medical crap. I talked to the nurse several times today (kudos for checking up on me) only to discover that once again, the medication prescribed was the wrong thing. Again. I'm quite ticked off. Like a volcano with a cork in it since it seems obvious when I think about it. That also means I have nothing for the pain and she advised me to go to the ER again. Crap. I'm lucky to get out of there in 10 hours. Sure. No problemo. Not only that, if I tell them at the desk I need something for pain, they treat me like a junkie at first. I've learned to say "no opiates" before I even fill out the papers. Then it's better, but still ... it's a waste of time and old news. I can get in and out the fastest around 4am. I've also learned I can prompt them into making follow up appts instead of me doing it later. Now I need to come up with other busy work. Load up my ipod, something. Anything to keep my frustration in check. Will they get the hint if I drag my computer along? (I doubt it). Grrr. Thanks for the vent.

I got some jewelry wire coming and I'm tempted to try and make some beaded wire wraps. Now that excites me more than micro coils. However, I did do some playing on FT today and IF I were to get into mechanicals and rbas ...
