It should be fine, reasonaby tough. Mostly comes down to the look. If it's your thing, go for it. Myself, I think it looks a bit... cheap.

A marbley type look is easily achieved through brass or copper patina, way more detailed, and much nicer looking, IMO.

I agree. As it stands I'm not a huge fan of the look. Maybe if was a different design that didn't seem so generic. Who knows though, maybe they'll grow on me. I'm still pretty excited about the wood sx from hotcig. Hope they can get this chip situation under control, and can continue to get their clone chips from the same place. If not I'm going to be kicking myself for not picking up the sleeved hotcig version when I had the chance.

drip tip marble stone.jpg I would like to see yosen do a design like this, and there are plenty other other designs that I would much prefer. Just look at some of the stone and resin drip tips that are out there. I'm not saying it would have to be made out of stone, but they could be a little more creative with the design. Look at the blackrose mod. That looks to be made out of some sort of resin. I'm not totally sure though. Just my :2c:

If you're reading this yosen, you can send me one for the brilliant idea ;)

Ok so .. I have just confirmed that the Yosen SX is indeed a solid acrylic body insert (as Dravell stated), and a stainless steel frame. Now my question is to anyone who has experience with this material, is acrylic as the material bad?

I am not really familiar with acrylic as a material used in construction of anything, and when I googled marbled acrylic I received a lot of returns for kitchen and bathroom stuff .. so I don't know what to think about it. Anyone?

Most acrylic is quite strong. It holds up to parrots who can easily chew through the hardest woods on the planet.

Ya .. I am not familiar with this material at all, but my spidey senses say that they were trying to create a Wapari look on a China budget. Well, I have a sample coming anyway, and I am not attached to the result at all. As as reviewer I am driven by knowing what it is, whether that ends up being good or bad. The redeeming factor is that Yosen's is at least housing the same proven chip.

I did tell Yosen that I thought it was overpriced (wholesale), at $20 more per pc than Eachely/Hotcig's version. Yosen's only market advantage here is that Eachely's production is at a complete halt until further notice... I want that Wood one so bad.

Ok, that is some what encouraging  So now lets see if they used a good quality acrylic at least  I asked for a blue one which they said would ship today, so we will see. I am actually way more concerned about whether they did a good job installing the chip, than the acrylic itself. If I hate that part I can always wrap it.

Crap... so that part WAS true? So I guess there goes our chances of ever seeing a brass or copper sleeve that fits? I wonder if the new Yosen version will be the same size, so if they ever make a sleeve version, they'll be interchangeable? At this point, I'd even be happy with some extra steel sleeves, I wrapped mine with soem fabric and it looks amazing. I really wanna try some others!

Yes dear .. I posted about it over the weekend but chose to delete it because posts like that were actually kind of the problem. But in short production for all versions of the SX Zero has been on hold for two weeks now actually, pending a new supply of chips. They were supposed to be received the week before last and that never happened. I suspect that the constant and ongoing public discussions regarding the chips authenticity had something to do with it.

Last time I spoke to Eachely on 1/12, they still had not been received. I am purposely waiting until tomorrow before I follow up again, because I can tell they are stressed out over it. :(

Crap... they make the nice wooden one, correct?

Yup .. that one  And I want that one more than the Yosen SX, so there are a few of us who are bummed about it. All hope is not lost, the last time that I spoke to them they maintained that they were waiting for a new supply of chips which they hoped would arrive by the end of this week.

Everybody ... PRAY!

Well hun, that is what I posted in my original post that I deleted after. Everyone may have been caught up on the other part about the source of the chip. But I opened the post by saying that production for all SX Zero's were on hold pending receipt of a new supply of chips .. that other person said it was cancelled, which was true at all and was basing his statements purely on hearsay. Eachely hasn't cancelled anything, and that is what I know from the horses mouth, not from what someone else told me. Cancelled (what he said) and on hold (what I know) are two different things.

The production halt has been in effect for the last two weeks. So no, do not give up hope about the brass and copper sleeves. But we do need to pray that they get those chips though .... soon.

Anyone know where to get pictures of this thing broken down? I want to try to make everything sit flush

Check the other forum in the Regulated Devices section. I have a thread there titled DNA Zero Cloned, you should find the pics on the last page of the thread.

ETA: the pics are of the SX Zero even though the thread is about the Yosen Zero

I haven't been give a firm time frame for when the first of the Wood SX will be ready to ship, but the chips have landed and all is right in the World!

Yay!! I'm hoping fc will be carrying the wood versions when they're ready. I assume they will.

Not a bad idea .. I keep telling them that they will sell thousands if they do. I didn't bug them on this point today, because a) I was not at all expecting to hear from them, and b) I was too overcome with joy to remember to say anything. Give me until next week though, allow them some time to get back into the swing of things ya know
