Nicotine can not be "banned" at all. There is no way they can "take away" pv's or mods or ecigs, it is against the law to do so. You should do some more research on law before you make this assumption. I would spill out the specifics of why they could never ban it, {MODERATED}

Against the law, yeah.... In the America of today the law is whatever the banks and corporations want it to be. This is because we now live under Fascism. Remember that thing called the Constitution? Whatever happened to that? Remember Free Enterprise? Just try having your kid set up a lemonade stand now. Your kid will be raided by a SWAT team.

Wrong. Everyone acts like these large corporations are "evil" All they do is employ and feed the families of many hard workers- Capitalism. I am not against them, in fact I am all for large business and progress. I am not for them being able to put their filthy hands on our ecigs though, which they can NEVER do. Stop giving up so quik. This is how the socialists destroy everything in their path. Telling everyone how to live their life, sorry that does not work with me.

This is not us giving up. This is us discussing plans for what /might/ happen. Yes I am all for fighting the power, but the wheel is already in motion. The FDA will be making a move very soon and we need to be prepared. They may or not be legally allowed to make ecigarettes illegal. But they can remove them from the market, mark my words. You would do well to do some research in the legislation forum and on CASAA's website before making such statements.

If the availability of the base nicotine becomes severely constrained or heavily taxed it will most likely start flowing across our southern borders by the hundreds of gallons within hours of any regulating measures going into effect. The transportation and distribution logistics are already well established and in place. In the short term they won't even have to worry about manufacturing as it can be purchased legally in several countries.
.

that's exactly right.

millions of people smoke ......... and until recently it has been largely illegal. prohibition never stopped anything.

If a straight-up ban goes into effect, the means of purchasing e-liquid will merely change -- and perhaps the prices will change as well. I'd guess it'll all be exchanged discreetly online. So, my advice: get familiar with with tor and bitcoin.

and yet, the big tobacco companies would love their friends in government to regulate our current industry to death so they can monopolize the market and/or protect their cigarette market.

If you take such an binary view of the world, you're going to miss out on many things.

unless you are willing to fly to China and smuggle it back on the plane ... FDA regs could make it illegal to ship nicotine to Canada and the USA.

It's illegal to import juice here in Japan, I still get it. It's not like... super illegal. Just you can't or get it seized. Never had a seizure. Canada also has similar issues. Just look at the countries that don't allow vaping and see it still goes On. There, to a lesser degree.

Look I know in CA everyone is against Monsanto. They sit there with a full stomach and complain about them, while starving kids could use their products around the world. You have no idea about the complexities of food production at all do you?

can you please do your creepy trolling elsewhere? I'm sure there's a youtube video or news article you're dying to submit a comment for.

Those ahead of the curve will be much better off. I fear that when the time of the deeming regs gets closer, there will be runs on supplies, right now is probably a golden time for anyone thinking about it to dip their toe into the pool, the information available today is phenomenal. How will boards like this keep running without advertising budgets? Will the info still be available in a worse case scenario? These thought have crossed my mind...

Firearms ammunition had this exact thing happen several times since 2008. It's just now getting to where ammunition is relatively easy to find on a consistent basis with no limits on how many boxes you can buy. Even ammunition reloading supplies (DIY parts) were just about impossible to get, and prices on some components and calibers doubled, tripled, even quadrupled in the secondary market. To this day there are tens of thousands of people sitting on tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition each, separate from the ammo they normally shoot, for when it happens again. Prices never really did go back to adjusted 2008 levels. I have no doubt we will see exactly this happen with eLiquid and DIY supplies at some point closer to FDA rulings. Of course ammo stays good for 50+ years while eLiquid isn't so stalwart. The ATF will be very busy if there is ever a crackdown on either or both.

What a strange little thread this has turned into .

I DIY and I use very little nic. I also don't need to vape all the time. Anyone in this position doesn't have to worry about any new government regulations or about starting to smoke again. Anyone who has not moved in this direction yet can attempt to do so in the next couple of years if they chose to. I've seen a number of people do it, sometimes people who once said they would never be able to, or would ever want to reduce their nic consumption. Most of them claimed it was much easier than they thought it would be. I know this won't work for everyone, but it's an option to explore and I think options are good :)

If liquid nic and good devices are restricted a lot fewer smokers will switch and a lot of current vapers will go back to cigs, or never leave them completely. Sure there will be a black market in nic base, but that will not appeal to nearly as many people as if it were freely available. This is all about limiting choice and collecting money from people with the least effort expended and the most profit made. I would hate to see that mentality win.

But it is no done deal yet. I'll keep supporting CASAA, keep bugging politicians when I can, leave messages where I can, anytime I can do it. If it still goes bad, I'll be one vaper who will still be vaping and as active as I can be. Works for me.

There are a number of scenarios that could happen, from nothing to regulation and high taxation to limits on the strength of nicotine base available to the general public to only pre-filled carts being available. So for ME, the best plan of action is to be prepared to make my own e-liquid. I already make my own, so that won't change. I started making my own after vaping one month. It had nothing to do with the FDA. It had to do with keeping my vaping cost down and knowing what is in my liquid.

Since nicotine base can be stored for a number of years in the freezer, it only makes sense for ME to stock up at today's prices. Even if nothing happens, I have nicotine base at today's price and not next year's. I am an avid couponer, deal hunter and thrifty person in all aspects of my expenditures.

I do what is best for ME. I do what I feel I need to do. VYOV! (vape your own vape) :)

in between the ice ages
I vape, therefor I DIY.
The thought of black market nic makes me cringe. Imagine going blind from bathtub nic like happened with alcohol during Prohibition.
Laws can be amended or passed with a stroke of the pen. If you have an interest that is in the minority, such as vaping, money and media propaganda can have public opinion go into the "I don't care" mode or "You are killing me with that!" (2nd hand smoke hysteria) and non-Big Tobacco or non-Big Pharma nicotine will be illegal to sell/possess...
I probably have enough nick to get me to end of my days. If not I really don't see me having a problem weening myself off of it. Not like the hell I went through with those damn coffin nails!!
Hope for the best but prepare for the worst!!
