If
This is probably the third time you're giving a thumbs up to TA from RTS. One more time, and I am going for it.

If that's the case I'll give you your forth thumbs up. RTS makes a good virginia TA somewhat on the ashy side as compared to rustica which is a sweeter TA. Those 2 are the most commonly used TA's. RTS is excellent.

Welcome to ecf and the hangsen thread!

I have elder captian and it sounds like Its not what your looking for specifically at least not an arabic contender..

Its not a real strong flavor but you may find a place for it. Its not a bad flavor by any means. It has a touch of the usa red base in it. I think I likened it to a desert ship/USA red mix??, if I remember my thoughts correctly.

Heres a link to a post of tobacco flavors I have that I ranked by strength of taste from the flavoring...

Mix the pipe @ 3% and call me in 3-4 weeks. Lol. Good luck! Its a mystery wrapped in a riddle, that I'd like to solve. But not so much that I've ordered it. Lol .. you know what I'm too content with..
Yeal, that link is a great post Jeremy. It was either that one or one like it the convinced me to give Highway a try. Sure glad I did. :vapor:

BCV ships to BC?

Thanks JeremyR - Magic Mix, Gold and Silver, and Pipe all on the next order. Elder Captain sounds interesting as well so that's added too. No Cigar in stock or I would try it.
If there are any other you suggest, please do.
The company in Canada I've been ordering from, expensive but non-rebottled - (ooops, guess I wasn't allowed to link yet) Ezigcan.

I meant to post the other day that I would recommend ry3 for you, over the elder captain. RY3 is stronger and has some sweetness but not too much, and a clear, signature, hangsen net base stands out. The elder captain has an ashy note if you like that.

The gold and silver is potent but in a different way than, like an, arabic. Hangsen says its cherries and cream in there.

I checked out that supplier and they have a pretty good selection.

USA red is a definite strong flavor and I see you didn't like it. I used to like it at first but then it got too ashy for me.

I don't mind USA Red, it is good but not great or excellent to me. I tried it at 3-5-7% concentrations and if it was the first Hangsen I had tried, I likely would have been very happy with it.

I don't get ash from any Hangsen or Inawera so far. Most Inawera contains floral notes that I don't care for, although DNB + UNB is really good yet still no ash.
I have a few TA's - no ash. I have an old pack of captain black cigars which I enjoy one with a beer once a month - plenty of ash.
Maybe my setup has something to do with it?
All my atomizers (that I currently use) are K-funs, single coils, 1ohm-ish, 12W+or- depending on flavor. I vape mouth to lung 3 second hits. I have tried many other setups (though not with Hangsens or Inawera), and this is what I keep coming back to.

First time I tried Arabic I thought to myself "what is this raunchy tasting juice". I tried it again a few days later and thought "wow this is nasty" It was immediately my favorite.

Is the RY3 overly sweet caramel? If it's anything like the Tab Blended, ill have to pass. If it's similar to the flu cured or highway, could be great. The RY1 was too weak for me, I might as well just vape straight PG/VG.

I guess the Gold and Silver is iffy - I typically dislike creams and custards juices but I just never know with Hangsen. I like spice, herbs, and those types. I wish I could find more flavors that tastes like grassy dirt but it never does to me. Usually sweet instead.

Back in my smoking days I smoked many butts, even cut em open and re-rolled them together to make 1 when I was too lazy to drive to the store. I know what an ash tray tastes like. I have not found anything that even closely resembles or would leave me to describe as ash.

Tastes are subjective yes, you may like something I don't. When we all drink synthetically flavored lemon juice, it tastes like lemons to us all. Why is it that many get ash and I get flowers with certain ejuice?
All my flavors are naturally steeped for weeks.

Only because you guys haven't tried Inawera Classic Smooth Leaf! I'm convinced this is made from ash can remnants. :)

And for whoever was looking for another HS Arabic "type" tobacco, I have similar tastes and know exactly what you mean. Try Inawera Gold Ducat at 2%. It is quite different from Arabic -- but also quite good.

Its just a difference in palate. Sometimes it's in the background and you only notice if your sensitive to the taste.

I have some ry3 steeping and some tab here too. The ry3 has less sweetness than you would think. The tobacco stands out. I will compare the two after they steep 2-4 weeks.

Ry2 I'd like to get again, its a nutty tobacco somewhere between highway and USA mix. In taste and strength Its been a few years but I remember liking it a lot.

I do not get an ashy flavor from any of the tobaccos I have tried. I do get a "texture" - a mouth feel like I am vaping something with fine particles suspended inside. Is that what everyone is referring to as "ashy?"

If you taste the ashy, you'll know it's ashy. Like you, I haven't really been able to taste ashy in any of the flavors I've tried so far. Don't have any DNB yet though. I can say for sure I'll never forget that some of the premixed juices I got years ago from MFS had ashy down pat -- like dirty ash tray in the rain ashy lol. At a point, almost made me sick lol. (But now I'm missing a little ashy :))

Thats were I'm at with red, in the rain ash.

Wait till you try the Smooth Leaf... I've got both mixed and shelf-steeped. The Red @8% smells sweat and carmelly (to me...); And the Smooth, well..., smells exactly an aged ash tray. And that's mixed at just 1%. Honestly not sure if I've ever had the courage or stupidity to vape it. Maybe in the name of science -- or a double-dog dare.

Double dog dare? Oh my! Well then you give me no choice.

Wonder if I should rewick before -- or after -- the test... Of course, I might need to chunk the whole RDA. Well, think I'll need a few drinks first. :)

Inawera Classic Smooth Leaf: :vapor:

OMG, no sweetness, no caramel, no nuts, no cream, no fruit, no licorice, no cedar, no umami, and no clove. Hell, not even fresh tobacco. At 1% the taste is exactly like the smell of dirty ashtrays. We'll need a second opinion, but anyone looking for this flavor, I think we have a winner.
