The greatest sorrow in these recent failure, both with the JBox and Chopperguy is the damage done to other great modders by association. I know I was hesitant to pull the trigger on the Billet Box pre-order thanks to these two. However I decided not to judge all by the behavior of a few and did get on the list and the photo updates of the manufacturing process on the Billet Box have been amazing.
I am sure tho many folks feel different about the whole pre-order system and many will miss out on great mods for fear of getting scammed. This damage done to honest modders will take time to heal I am sure. I know quite a few of the good modders don't have the funds to complete a run of a hundred mods out of pocket so having folks prepay is needed. Perhaps a deposit system would put folks at ease, enough to cover the raw materials but not the full costs...I don't know. Guy I work with in the UK making my pipe won't even take a deposit, he relies on a gentleman's agreement that you will pay when the mod is finished and he hasn't been stiffed yet that I know of.
For those who got scammed keep up with the PayPal complaints, evidently they are working past the time limit on this guy and if they refund your money I guarantee they will in turn go after him to get their money back.

I think, once an ......, always an ....... I feel bad chiming in here because I've been refunded.

I'm betting if he does come out from under his rock it won't be for a couple of days, but my money is on the "we won't hear from this guy again anytime soon" bandwagon.
He'll eventually be back, and some of us may get what we paid for, a year later maybe, but I sincerely doubt he ever makes full restitution, and at this point, I'm past caring if he ever does. The fact is, if I get notification that my JBox is headed my way, I would do one of two things, sell it to someone else in hopes I could recoop some of my money, or just smash it to bits, that's how little I think of Jason at this point.

Oh and I'm not allowed to know what his family problems are? But I'm also not allowed to have my money back? Or what I paid for?

I'd be curious to see if he could come back from this. He had his hands in a lot of stuff, but this sent him from hero to zero status. I don't know the details of the other projects he was involved in or watch the threads but aren't they going to be affected by his disappearance as well?
Call me a softy, but if he shipped my Jbox and apologized for not handling it well it'd be fine with me. I wouldn't talk to him at meets or anything, but following through on his word and apologizing would be fine.
That being said, I have zero hope that that will actually happen. I'll live with the loss of money and do what I can to seek justice, he loses a lot more though in that if he doesn't make good then he will never be allowed to be part of this community again.

At this point everyone should have already done the IC3 thing.
I had "a friend" tell me that there is a possibility that if we all get together and complain to paypal that this was a scam that they may give us our money back and they would go after him. This could also be risky for us, but it might not be.
Someone who has access, or is friends with him on Facebook, the thing we talked about, I say we put that back on the table, if someone would send the message for me, I can write it up, I do this sort of thing often. Maybe some of his friends and family can help us get this mess straightened out, and if not, he'll be known for the kind of person he is.

CC company is going to temp refund the amt while they investigate. If he doesn't respond in 2 months they will permanently refund.
