A timing chain is kind of hard to break I would be looking real close at any chain tension er or idlers the chain runs on, sometimes the bearing in them seize up been there done that
I'm just glad the bf is dealing with them directly now and he has mentioned some of the different things it could be in relation to it...he has them looking at everything...hoping for a not so bad repair bill too.What obg said about the tensioner and idler pulleys, I wonder if the guy even checked them before putting it all back together or maybe he forgot to tighten the bolts properly. Hopefully it can be fixed without a huge repair bill

Well, I don't normally have situations like that. I'm generally a very defensive driver. When that happened last night, I didn't really have another choice if I was going to make my right turn.
If I didn't negotiate that lane change, I'd have had to gone straight through the intersection, then my choices would have been to do a U'ey, or explain to the AF base guard why I didn't turn right back at the intersection.

...well, you weren't here for the story about the morning I had to pass a loaded school bus on the right/shoulder, or become the pancake.
Bus driver had missed her stop, she went from 60 to 0 in about 3 seconds flat.
Well, she thinks the minute she wakes up that it's time to eat.
Then, she's back asleep within 3 minutes of eating...me, I'm up for the duration...so I make her wait.
