Well, looking on the bright side, I am pretty sure that today is going to just keep getting better. I know this because it started out rather challenging. Dad called me again this morning and he had fallen in the kitchen.

I am just grateful that there was no emergency room visit today. One bloody knee, 2 elbows and the back of his head. When we do something. . . we don't mess around.

I am not sure how I got a 500-pound man up off the kitchen floor (he is only 198 but it feels like 500). heehee

He does not like it but I am making him use the walker today. I told him it was more for me than for him. Now we are just waiting for the cable man to come between 3-4. I have a little tablet beside his recliner so he can at least watch tv. And the best part is he is comfortable and I finally have my morning coffee. Life is good.

Hope I have not upset anyone with all my posts with my dad. It just helps me handle it all. I suppose it makes me feel like I am not alone. I make everything funny because if you really stop and think about it, life is funny. I can choose to laugh or cry. It's an easy choice for me.

Even though all this I still know it is Memorial Day and my heart goes out to all those who are missing their loved ones. God Bless America just about covers it.

Y'all have a great afternoon.

Rat2 don’t ever feel like you can’t talk about what’s happening in your life. I know that I haven’t “known” you long and while I’m not there yet with my parents it’s coming and I hear what they are going through with my grandpa. He is 88ish. You need to be able to talk it through, laugh, even cry when the moment arises. It definitely can’t be easy being the sole caretaker and it’s obvious that dad isn’t the only one you are caring for. Our shoulders are here for you, always. But you also need to take a moment for yourself. So once everything is set up with the tv, definitely plan a dinner out for yourself. Wish we were closer, I’d come get you for whatever your favorite meal is.

What she said! I can’t improve on it
Hope your dad won’t be too sore from his fall.

After I picked him up once more and rebandaged his elbow, we had leftovers with chicken tenders but he did not eat much. I was not hungry either but I hate to eat. I can't lose what little bit of strength I have left. It is hot so the salad was the best thing on the plate for me. I would have really preferred either one of y'all supper. By the pool of course. heehee

Not much sleep here either. Dad might not have eaten much for supper but he woke up hungry as a bear. He asked for french toast (which I have not made in a while) and ate a sausage biscuit too with his coffee. I was glad to see him with an appetite. The day has started off promising.

    Good morning Rat2
I’m happy your day is starting off promising, let’s keep it that way :thumb:

I’m doing laundry after changing the bed and slow cooking a brisket.

I just got a nap for a whole hour and I feel like a new woman!!!! heehee

He has been doing very well today considering how he was yesterday. Although extremely slow, his balance is much better and he is walking without me holding on all the time. YAY! I am still sticking with him. I can't keep him from falling but I can give him a soft place to land. heehee

I ordered him a 3 in 1 chair to help him in the shower. It had excellent reviews and I could not believe it but it was only $40. I think I am excited because I'll be using it one day too.

Oh, I am so happy dad criticized my supper and told me to throw it out. Bless his heart. He's feeling better.

    bahahahaha

He wanted soup so I took a can of cream of chicken and added real chicken and rice to it. I tasted it and thought it was good. He just like chicken and noodles and that's it. I had a delicious salad with chicken on top. So good on a hot day.
