Hello my lovely lurkers.

Those cookies look great OBG...if I wasn't so lazy about cooking, I'd make some...maybe I can convince the bf to make them.:p

So glad you're okay Paul, even if you're extra soggy right now...Cloudy here with a couple of thunderstorms here and there, but we're still not supposed to get the brunt of it for a couple more days.

Needless to say, the pool was overflowing. I took the lid off the skimmer and water just gushed out. Left if off. I'll deal with it after all this mess is over with. Lots of leaves in it to clean out!!

That's good. :) Thankfully it's still standing!!
Of course, *all* that kind of stuff can be replaced, but that would be a lot of water ON TOP OF all the water you're getting anyway if it failed, or collapsed.
I wish my pool had collapsed during Katrina...would have made things so much easier...instead it turned into a toxic horrible sludgy mess because there was no power to the pump and had gone unattended for so long...plus was so full of pine needles you couldn't even hardly stir the water...we ended up tearing the dang thing down and never put one back up.

Oh that would be so gross. :(
I can't even imagine going through a hurricane like that, or the aftermath.
My heart just breaks for all involved. Current, and previous.

Yeah they are no fun, and the aftermath is the worst part...my heart is with all those in Texas right now because I truly understand what they will be dealing with for the foreseeable future...and all that flooding is the worst.

I was lucky in that my house had some damage but luckily just from wind and not water...where I worked at the time though was under 25 feet of water and the aftermath of dealing with that was heartbreaking and just awful...I worked for a couple of years helping with the destruction and eventual reconstruction...it was quite the experience...and I got to see the best of humanity with all the wonderful people who came down to help us...I met and worked with so many wonderful people... so while I wouldn't ever want to go through that again, my heart was full of love for the people who dropped everything to help out total strangers.

    We have Bela ;)
    Hiya Dale.

Just slightly soggy here...nothing like what we're expecting though...and won't be anything like what Texas has.

Enjoy Bela! Princess said she was sleepy so she's resting in her bed right now...I'll take it. ;)

It's got to just bring back all the memories. :(
    You were lucky!!
I was glued to the tv for weeks when Katrina hit.
I was following someone's blog who was posting from ?? I don't even remember now, an apartment somewhere.
It was when all the looting was going on, and they were fearful because someone had a generator.
Yes, the kindness of others is always amazing when disasters strike. :nun:

I was also lucky in that my brother does construction work and my ex (we were still together then) was a builder in the Navy, so guess who was the first person in my neighborhood to get their house fixed. ;)
But I still witnessed the devastation on a first hand basis and daily through work...that was when I learned more than I ever wanted to know about construction.
