I use 30g on a 5/64 drill bit, 8 wraps and I get around 1.8 ohms

Hmmm, so any reason why I would need 15 to get 1.8? The biggest thing is I'm using an Artistic Wire kit and not a drill bit. The coil looks pretty, but is there some way to short across it to produce the lower resistance?

Only thing I can think of would be the diameter of the wire your using. I'm not an expert or even intermediate on the whys of coil building! Which is why I screen shotted Kiwi! . I got my drill bits at tractor supply, two in a pack for a little under $3
