Not sure as I haven't played with any other than the Vivi Nova atty but suspect they are all of a similar theme. Not through any lack of regard just a case of those were the first I found and they work. Nothing original someone posted about them on here.

The one pictured has just had the wick cut down not replaced with stainless mesh.

than I must have read about it on the Phoenix thread, modding them for bottom feeders. I want to try shifu first, once my Vmod order gets straightened out.

After 5 days now with my new Vmod XL ... I'm pretty much THRILLED with this "new to me" bottomfeeding experience!! After a little 2.0 atty frustration in the beginning ... That's all worked out with switching to a standard resistance atty I already had! Vapage was kind enough to let me return my 2.0 ShiFu's and exchange for 2.5's! Once they arrive, I'm pretty sure I'll have vaping nirvana! LOL!! Thanks Vapage for a GREAT product & great customer support! And thanks to you guys/gals here on this thread for the wonderful help & support!!! :)

Has anyone else had issues with a really dry feeling / burning throat hit with the XL? I feel like no matter how much juice I squeeze, I have to vape it for a while before I can finally get a good, smooth hit. I used to direct-drip before I picked up the vmod, and I can't tell if this is just a learning curve or if it may be the atty. It also seems to really dry out after sitting for just a couple minutes, and it's hard to get it *just right* again as far as getting the proper amount of juice into the atty. If anyone has any xl-noob tips, I'd be all ears.

While I've had my feeding difficulties, (too much juice and leaking or not enough juice), I have to say the VMod XL is always within reach. It's become my primary PV. (I own a provari, ss vtube, glv, and vvpv so the competition is pretty stiff.):thumb:

I feel you! I vape my VModXL about 80% of my vaping time. I have rebuildable attys, ProVari...other things that are shinier and WAY MORE EXPENSIVE, and I will reach for this Vmodxl over and over again...it's just EASY and GOOD vaping!

I never could understand how the juice chamber works in the XL....it just works for me; i adapt, but you could be having some issues. Fernand used to frequent the thread more and he could pick apart any issues.

Seems some here really like a 2.0 or SR atomizer resistance on the XL which i can't figure, but ymmv for sure... maybe you are using a 1.5 and need to go up to 2.0 or higher?

I've been using the standard 2.0 silo cart. Previously, I was using the 1.8 and 1.5 Cisco 510's with the same 18650 batteries. The only time I had similar taste with them was when they were really dry and needed a few more drops. However, I can have the silo anywhere from dry to flooded and I still get the same taste and burning plasticy throat hit. It does go away with some time, but again it's always there after letting it sit for a few minutes and then trying to start vaping again.

oh, that's sort of "mini carto" deal... did you ever have burnt fiber taste? That could be it.... try another atty and make sure you don't toast the coil. It's a well know vape buster.

I thought this might come in handy for some of the new Vmod owners:

"Feeding:

1) invert device & wait for juice to fill the bottleneck on the fill bottle. You may even wiggle it a bit & look for the air bubbles.

2) turn upright & squeeze the bottle.
(You will hear the pocket of juice release into the chamber.)

3) dry pull a few times to fill the Hybrid or Silo with juice from the chamber.

4) Vape

5) when atty or carto gets dry, do a couple of dry pulls again.

6) when chamber is empty...see #1"

Tilt and vape methods work marvelous, too. If you just sit back in a lounge chair and vape, it will be the natural way...imo, of course.

Bianca! Great to see you stopped in for a visit. Great to see you. Have you tried the ShiFu yet? I use my XL every day, but quite a bit more now with the ShiFu.

I've had two of them and one is working great and the other spits hot eliquid at me LOL! Not very friendly! I currently have an old/tired 1.8ohm SLB atty on mine and it's vaping like a champ. I use the ShiFu that works well with another flavor, when I switch that, I switch attys. :) Good to see you too! :D

Oh no -- spitting atty! It should break in with use as I recall Brian saying that it may require a little break in. I just experienced a couple of pops at the very beginning and others have reported similar, especially if it is on the dry side.

Maybe I'll pull out a donut or tall drip tip when I break in my next one, just in case.:)

what Ive been doing alittle is remove the cone, drip tip and body and vaping with it that way. Then you can clearly see what you are or aren't doing with the juice.

WOW! great tip.... hahah now i can try the shifu that way if the draw is tighter than i want.
what Ive been doing alittle is first put a strip of electrical tape on the "backbone" of the chassis, that way you can use the mod without the chassis falling out once you remove the cone and drip tip. then using only the atty you can clearly see what you are doing or not doing with the juice. But be sure to keep your pinky under the chassis so it doesn't fall out.
