How about a 510 to 510 extender? Something like this 510 to 510 adapter | extender

Thanks, but for one I would be very nervous about the connector staying inside when I took the atty out, and I also think that it would restrict the juice flow to the inside of the atty and also possibly move the holes up above the seal.

Well on the AVA's it looks like the center post is perfectly flush with the outside ground tube/threading, whereas most attys/cartos it sticks out just a little bit and on the Vapage attys/cartos it sticks out a lot. I tried gently pulling the post of the AVA down but it won't budge, so my only other option is to raise the center post inside the VMOD XL somehow.

I would prefer to find a way to keep using my AVA's as they're the best atty's I've ever tried for me (of course YMMV). They hold a ton of juice because it's almost impossible to flood them (ceramic plate instead of a wick & coil) and no throat-searing dry hits when it gets dry.

Thanks so much for all of the suggestions but I figured it out. If you follow the positive battery lead over to where it goes into the hole on the bottom of the center post (inside the body above the juice bottle), that center post can move up and down. Wedging a thin piece of rubber (it has to be 100% non-conductive as the ground is directly below this!) underneath there to push that up ever so slightly does the trick.

VapeTV | Basilray's Guide to Atomizer Testing With a Multimeter!

Racehorse -- The best way I know of to know what's going on with chargers is to use a multimeter on the batteries. Charged 3.7 batteries should come off the charger about 4.2. The link is an old but good one on using a multimeter on atties/cartos, but I believe there is some discussion about batteries in the comments.

Inexpensive multimeters are fine for our use -- suppliers sell some cute ones and they can also be purchased for about $7 at Harbor Freight Tools. A multimeter should be in everyone's arsenal.

And, often it's the lights, not the charger that are acting strangely.....at least, that's what I've determined. :)

Keep at it -- you are doing great. Glad you got a chance to enjoy a nice vape!

Thanks for your help, Tearose. It sure is nice to have our own little topic here specific to this mod. :) All the experts for this mod are among us. I'm pretty sure I have a multi meter layin' around somewhere.

But if the charger lights don't work, then I won't know when the battery is done cooking. I can certainly meter the batts, but guessing when they are done, when the light is supposed to clue me into that, is going to be a bit wearying.

The charger may well be charging the battery, as you say, and i can certainly meter the batts for that...but if the light stays red when the battrery is charged it's kinda making me charge "in the dark" and then I'd have to set an alarm clock or something. I believe it removes an element of safety as well, i..e. bad chargers make me a little nervous.

It's a brand new purchase so I'm gonna assume it will be replaced. :)

I'm gonna save up for a new charger, but for now, I need to get by with what I've already purchased.

BTW, will those orange AW batts + trustfire charger work okay? Probably not one of the better setups, huh?

The Vapage batteries I have are Protected Li-ion. They say ICR 18650 2200 MAH 3.7V. They are blue and are not re-wrapped with a Vapage logo as my smaller 14500's are

Tearose, now I'm wondering.....if it's the batteries or the charger?

Is it possible that the battery itself that I am getting red lights on one charger, and green lights on the other.......is it possible that the protection on the battery kicked in?

Sounds more like the charger, doesn't it?

BTW, anyone know if the charger for the Vmod is also protected---- or will it just keep charging away, expecting the protection in the batteries to stop the process?

My guess is that it's the charger. Most likely just a faulty light. I had an ego one that never turned green -- but just stayed red! It did charge, however. I'd give it a few hours and either just use the battery or check the battery on my other charger to see when it was cooked. Not very sophisticated.

Sure wish some Guru's would chime in.

I don't know much about the cheaper chargers, (even tho I have a stash of single battery ones that came with one deal or another).

My story -- I bought a mid priced one and a set of one of the "fire" batteries while my wood mod was being made. Further research convinced me to buy a Pila and AW's, which I did before the mod was built -- and never used the other set up. I've done little charger research since then----why? I had a Pila. :)

That said -- the T1 was a very popular charger and performed well for many. (I hope I got that name right). Any of the chargers sold by Super T or RTD would be decent chargers.

If I were you, I'd use the Vapage Batteries you purchased. A lot of VmodXL users don't have them as they already had 18650 batteries so they are not discussed often. I've never seen or heard of anyone not liking these batts.

And -- when I pursue the purchase of new Batteries I will be updating my knowledge about the hybrid Panasonics -- and think I'll probably go for the ones with protection. For me, the nuances between protected (Li-ion IC) and high drain (IMR) when it comes to vape performance have not been very apparent to me. So, I chose the higher mAh and more vaping time between charges of the protected on devices that don't require IMR's. The panasonics are changing the game and just may take over in popularity. In the meantime, I'm an AW fan.

And -- on another subject. The Silo is pretty terrific. I've had the energizer bunny of silo's too. (Not all, but a couple) Until the ShiFu -- I used silo's more than attys on my vmod.

When i got into mods, I compared the importance of vaping as a cigarette alternative; big BIG in the scale of things. SO I don't skimp on my vape gear; no way.

I got into 18650's when the Provari came out in 2010, the Reo Grand, and of course the Vmod XL... AW is the standard since then, and still holds its own, and if you don't want to study up on the new stuff, you can't miss with AW.

I got a Pila charger which has been charging at least 2 186450's a day for almost 2 years now without a hitch, and I got a 4 channel TR003P4 as a back up (which will charge many different size batts.

In the last year, I have gotten back into LR 1.5 Hybrid atomizers (HH357, Aero and Shifu) and I use IMR AW's only... simply because IMR (which is a safe chemistry) puts out what your 1.5 Ohm atomizer draws more consistently.
I also use some SR 2.0 to 2.5 Ohm hybrid attys on my VV's and still use IMR since I don't really like having too many different things to deal with.
With hard use, the AW's last about a year before they start losing their oomph. When you start getting considerable less vape time, and they start discharging faster than normal, bI get some more.
I have 4 PV's that use 18650, use them every day, and keep 2 for each unit going daily.

I learned everything I know about vaping with the help of a meter. I have both a multimeter and the onboard Provari meter. It's always good to check what's going on with your atomizer and batteries.

The Silo is pretty terrific.

I don't have a LOT of experience, but having tried a few of the other ones people are using, i'll agree 100%. I am not getting clogs, I am not getting burnt taste, I am not getting dry hits.

Win/win if you ask me.

Tearose, Ukeman. Okay PILA, Multimeter..........then, well, you know..............Every day it's SOMETHING LOL

I think what I'm going thru is that I'm a newbie, and just getting set up, and already been thru a few things (flanged punched cartos w/DCT tanks, leaky clearomizers) so I'm just getting my sea legs so to speak. I think this is a period in my vaping life that will be in the past soon, however, between settling on equipment and finding juices, it's just been a little stressful, I mean, FUN too, but also kinda annoying stressful. :)

I'm finally getting to the point where I "get it". And know more about what I want and like. All the stuff I have problems with is just little stuff....to sort out.

I do like the batts that came w/ the Vmod. I got 2 extras for backup, so I am not going to be needing batts for a while, and am thoroughly happy with these.

---------------
IF I could "make my world perfect", I'd have this Vmod thing, and built a tad differently, which would make it more expensive. And of course, more rubberized skins. :) I don't know anything about other bottom feeders, and the Reo afficionados love their reos. for me, it's aesthetics......we all have different tastes and I just think the reos are.......well........ugly. I don't feel like I want to reach out and pick one up, or hold it in my hand.

And really fancy stufff, like wood, just isn't appealing to me, probably because I live in a national forest, I'm inundated by wood, woodworkers, furniture and nick naks made out of beautiful wood....I've just got too much of it around me to want to own a mod enclosed by it LOL

For whatever reason, I looked at the Vmod and thought it was real pretty. I like the footprint. Shape, size. And, now that I've tried it, I like the way it vapes.

I like it so much, I just want it to be......................um....................perfect. :) And yet I reallize there is no such thing.

Hope I make sense posting my stream of consciousness here

I have a Shifu from my first 2 pak on my XL still, and after about 2 weeks, which is actually a long time for me, haven't cleaned it, and it's still firing perfectly.
I have the collar and cone snugged just enough to avoid looseness, for a nice air draw, and I have to say these Shifu are really sweet atomizers. The flavor is great, and the consistency of full vapor is amazing.

They are more consistent than my HH357's which i use at home.
The Reo has a 357 LR 1.5 901, and my Vari has a 1.5 357 510... on my desk, and although these are my first choice, I have to say they a slightly finnicky and depending on how much juice is in there, the vape varies each time.

With the Shifu on my XL, the vape is the same every time; full vapor and good flavor. (very similar to the Aero, for a third the price with 50 discount). That's what i need on the road; no fussing, just power vaping.
I tilt and slight squeeze, and tilt as I vape.

I like to load the next vape as I'm exhaling... tilt and see little wafts of vapor, and a gentle squeeze, loads the XL for the next vape.
Of course I can't resist taking another vape, and then another, in that fashion...
:)

To racehorse you can go a skateboard&snowboard shop and ask for some scrap "deck tape" and peel and paste some of that on the body. you could wrap the whole body in it and razor blade the edges off. I have the tape just been to lazy to do it. By the way Im thinking of selling my brand new xl minus the atty. I paid 58$ total for it. I'll entertain offers. pm me

Good morning VModers!
Just wanted to correct some information that I posted the other day about the 2.5 ohm atty's! I checked and was told by Customer Service at Vapage that the 2.5's were also the new updated slant coil ShiFu's. Upon inspection of the 2.5's I received, they are NOT. I just contacted Vapage again this morning & found out that there was some mis-information given. Only the 1.5's and 2.0's are the updated version. The 2.5's are not available yet in the updated version! They will be, but no ETA on their arrival. Just wanted to clarify so everybody knows! Still love my new VMod XL! :)

I am so ticked about this. Everyone raves about vapage customer service...humph. I ordered what I though were slant coil atomizers and I put a note in the comments asking them to PLEASE BE SURE I was getting the new slant coil atomizer. Did they contact me and tell me I ordered the wrong thing? No. Why have a comments box at all if you are not going to read it! They should separate the 2 different atomizers into 2 different product pages.
