Just Wondering how you are doing?

And Hope that things have gotten Better.
I’m still here, lurking and learning. I don’t quite feel like I’m drowning anymore, and I’m down from a pack a day to 4 per day. (Morning, after meals, before bed). Working on replacing those but it makes me feel deprived so I’m working to replace the habit.

I watched a YouTube video on how to inhale, felt like an idiot smoking and vaping at the same time while watching the video and trying to learn what I need to do differently. But I think I got it!

Sore throat has gone away, switching between flavors and high nic/low nic all day for variation and to see what I’m comfortable with.

Was very nice to have some adult time last night and not feel like I have to run out in the cold to smoke a cigarette. I got to stay in bed! I told my husband I haven’t done that since 1998!!! Definite perk.

Otherwise, I come on here every day and read the things you guys are posting, and I don’t think I’ve known of a friendlier group of people.

Thank you for thinking of me!

I've been on my own too long: when I read "adult time," I assumed you were talking about a nice evening of grownup conversation.

Going from four packs to four cigs sounds pretty great to me. And I second what you said about the people here. It's an impressively kind and helpful place.

Yep - one of my favorite perks! Quit smoking in my house 1990, when my wife was pregnant with first kid. It's so nice not to be banished (or banish yourself) to the outdoors, especially this time of year! And it actually gives you more useable time per day. If you no longer have to set aside 2 hours a day (20 cigs @ 6 min. ea.), to do nothing but be outside smoking, you get free extra time! Of course, many of us spend that much time shopping for vape gear or posting here, but.... ;-)

And down to 4 a day is great. I just quit & started vaping the same day, and struggled through that first week. But a lot of people do what you're doing. I think you'll find after a while that you enjoy the vaping more than smoking and will find it easier to taper off to no smokes without problem.

Good luck!

There was some conversation....LOL

But all kidding aside, my non smoker husband is really liking the change. The cigarette smell always bothered him and it bothered me because I knew it bothered him. I wish I would have found vaping and this forum so much sooner.

I’ve noticed that lots of times when I smoke I have to put my cigarette out because I have lots of kids and can’t always afford an entire 6 minutes outside. I never relit cigarettes do I wasted a lot. It’s pretty great to just be able to go in my room and take a few drags and then go about my day. I don’t know why I’m hanging on to these last few, but I’m proud of my progress so far!

Funny because when I transitioned from smoking to vaping, I had a pack of smokes with only 7 in it for about 4 months just sitting in my car. That made it really easy to concentrate on vaping as they were there if I really needed one kind of like a security blanket. After that I threw them out and had kept my last pack in my freezer at home again for that security blanket feeling. Finally I threw them out after my 1st year vaping anniversary! To give a piece of advice for quitting certain smokes, start by having the morning, noon, or night ones later and later each day to get you out of the routine of having it at that time. Hope that helps!!! You are doing GREAT!!!

The last few per day are the most difficult to many.

My mom lit one at specific times of the day and enjoyed each one. Some here have managed to stop entirely, some still have one a day.

If nicotine controls when you smoke it's best to not smoke. But if you can control when you smoke just enjoy a couple during this stressful period. 4 a day is big time progress.
The next one to knock out could be that last one of the day, then you're down to three.

I still smoke during the day at work (where I'm outdoors all day) and at 5pm stop. I vape in the evenings. Lately even that has been reduced.

Another trick was to not smoke after meals but vape instead. If I chain vape about 10 drags the after meal urge is squashed. That's breakfast and lunch. The after supper one is gone now.

My long term goal is to smoke like my mom did and eventually stop those too.
