356F, rayon, 70% VG

Doesn't matter if 0.29 dual coil or 0.32 single coil. That is my sweet spot and I'm sticking to it :)

Tony,

I am not doubting your settings and the fact that it works. My setting are typically 425F and 20-25J or Watts whatever and mine works fine. The temperature reads in the 280 - 300F range on my SX and 400 - 412F on my DNA40 both units set to the same TP, power, Coil&Wick (no idea why the two read different actual temperature). Plenty of flavor and Vapor from both.

But my question is how in the He!! does it work at all when VG boils at 554°F?

I am not going to rest until someone explains this to me. :-x

Pay attention to what the animals are telling you. They don't have any bias and if they are ducking maybe you should also. Keep safe Snado7.

Pure VG yeah but a mixture? Who knows...

I read somewhere that if you added like 10% water the boiling point would drop as low as 300F ish... With pg and flavors, each liquid will have most probably it's own boiling point.

I've heard about the crazy temps people are seeing on their sx mini m mods. It puzzles me how someone can vape a nickel build at 220F-280F

You don't have any vapor in that range with a dna for sure.

Oh that sucks :(

I'm more used to 87F, shiny and barely any wind :/

it's been real hot & humid the last week or so now it's cooling down, danger-time, but you sorta get used to it here this time of yr....sometimes the temp can change 30 to 40 degrees over-nite, one of the dangers of the ohio valley...i been thru a couple of bad situations so far but i was totally buttered both times; back in my wilder youth.

Tony,

Yes I have seen the posts that people are setting TP at thinks like 280F and I have a lot of problems understanding how that can work at all.

I personally have notice that the DNA40 reads about 100F higher than the same configuration on the SX.

As far as the mix effecting the boil it has to be something like that. I did add 10% water to a 5 ml tank of 50/50 and it reduced the temperature significantly. Unfortunately I don't remember the how much it lowered but if I was to guess it was around 80 - 100F.

Not only the fact that the SX and DNA don't agree on temp now that I have some kind of temp indication I will say that different juices all of which I buy at 50/50 have significantly different holding temperatures with a saturated wick.

I have tried the water wick on the DNA40 and it is so close to 212 F I am sure it is accurate and now that I have made such a big deal out of this temperature anomaly I will do the water test on the SX today.

I understand the shift in temperature. I used to live in Amarillo, TX and have seen it drop 30 degrees in less than an hour and hailstones as clear as glass and the size of big ice cubes. Get hit in the head with one of those puppies and you better have already kissed you backside because you won't have time after the fact. Fortunately here in Utah we don't have that kind of weather just some pretty strong lightning storms occasionally. Have I mention that lightning scares the be-jiggers out of me. When I lived in Louisiana going to school the trip from the classroom to the parking lot during a lightning storm was one of the most stressful things I have ever experienced.

It is amazing how threatening the world around us can become once we get old enough to figure out we are not immortal. :w00t:

i wonder how Ti works on the SX, that and a LP REO are the only 2 mods i still want and i'm done....have 18 box mods semi/regulated & 5 which are dna40's and about 45 mec's and enough batteries to last a life-time....but i'm really interested in the SX; like jonesing for one.

Sando7,

Tony sent me some Ti and it works fine on my SX I don't notice any real difference in the quality of the vape. When I first got the Ti I had been using 28 Ga Ni and as you know it is a little hard to work with. The Ti solved the Ni softness problem for me but then I bought some 26 Ga Ni because I wanted to try the SX suggested resistance of 0.065 ohms and to accomplish that with 28 is almost impossible unless you consider 1.5 turns a coil. With 26 Ga it is pretty stiff and easy to work with also I can build a 0.065 ohm coil using about 4.5 turns (spaced of course) and it works pretty well. By the way the 26 Ga Temco Ni is stiff enough that wicking is absolutely no problem.
