I got my titanium yesterday but just got to do a build this morning.
First impression - this stuff is like working with a door spring until it is "tempered". It's way springier than tempered Ni200, by far the toughest thing to work with, for me, to date. It also has a significantly higher resistance than Ni200. An eleven turn coil on a 14 gauge needle, about 2.5mm, came in at about an ohm, .983 on my USA ohm meter and .92 on my Invader.
I ended up oxiding the wire over the kitchen stove and have got to find a better, more controllable way. I wrapped the coil and installed to an Erlkonigin clone then wicked it up with rayon. My first try was at 250F, 15 watts. Lots of vapor, no flavor. I kept an eye on the power output and it's pretty solid so the wicking is good. The most important thing, for me, no metallic taste!
I'm still doing what I call the "ErlK dance", balancing the wick to allow good wicking, not leaking and maintaining power. That's my only complaint with the ErlK for a single coil device. I'm also still playing with power and temperature. It stayed solid at 25 watts but was too hot for my taste. I've increased the temperature to 320 and it's doing fine there at 22.5 watts, pretty respectable for a single coil
tank. The flavor is good, not outstanding, so some more fooling with temperature is needed. I'm using my favorite DIY liquid at a 60/40 ratio.
