I am thinking about my extractions and want to make juices which are strong enough to vape after a few days. Perhaps a freezing for filtering and the heating for reducing and reducing againg after mixing with pg could be a flavour killer. I dont freeze it this time, even it will get a little more gunky. I think flavour is more important and next time i will made extracts with heated pg to have a compare to the heated ethanol extraction.

I noticed the same cloudyness from the filter. For the benefit of those reading this. This filter is the exact same as exchaner is using. We split the cost and he mailed half to me.

Now I suspect it's the loose filter fiber materal contained within the filter itself doing this. What I purpose is maybe boiling the filter first then giving it a good rinse then let it completely dry before use. then try it again.

I occasionally use 1 micron filter felt as an intermediate filter, mine was cut from a filter bag but it's the same material. I always pre-wash the felt in hot water and Dawn dish soap before using it the first time and after using it to filter extract, Dawn cuts right through the oil and resin.

I myself have stopped using the filter as I find I need to use to large of a piece for it to be effective in the funnel I use and this soaks up more then its worth. ............ I think this 1 micron filter would be good in a smaller size used in a Borosilicte forced vacuum type of setup but for me it's just over kill.

Yep, they're thirsty if used in large sections. I cut the felt into 2" round discs and use them in an old canning funnel like this one;

Just an observation on paper filtering to 1 .5 micron filtering an ethanol extract. With the three extracts I've filtered, I went from separating the tobacco from the PGA, to a N0. 2 paper cone filter, which only takes minutes, then straight to the freezer for several days for separation of oils and crud, then back to coffee filter and then straight to 1.5 micron filter. This filter is done within three hours in the freezer, whereas a 1.5 micron filter of room temp gravity pg extract is 30+ hours. I gave up using felt for filtering after the first time I used it and just use it now to keep containers and funnels covered.

Well, I strain the tobacco steep, then cold filter in the freezer. My wicks last 7 days or so, but I'm only using 1% flavouring.

Written on 21st Century papyrus

I'm envious, I use 3 - 7% for pipe tobaccos and up to 10% for cigars. That's in addition to other flavorings like Vienna Cream, Vanilla and etc.

That was my latest HEET (Heated Ethanol Extracted Tobacco) of "chop chop" (an illegal form of tobacco in Oz) which produces a dirty, bitter tobacco flavour. I sometimes add up to 2% of a cold macerated (in PG) pipe or cigarette tobacco, but not always.

But my taste is not as discerning as others ;)

Once again i am thinking about patriot from GEJ and the nets from net.com.

The nets from Clay tastes very good like tobacco smells but the smokiness is not so good as patriot.
Patriot dont taste as good as the nets from net.com but the smokiness during breathing out through the nose is awesome realistic like a cigarillo or a real cigar.

I think patriot is not a real net. It could be a strong flavour like some from inawera. I have searched a few minutes referring roasting flavours and found a few words about phenole. On the other side In one article has been written that phenole from roasting could be favor cancer.

The idea is to put roasting flavours in a net to have more smokiness but i dont know what i should believe. Roasting flavours could be a way to make nets more similar to smoking, or not ? Have you ever add some ?

What do you think about it ?

Patriot is a NET, but is not like a pipe/cigar tobacco, it is a cigarette tobacco that's why you get more of a cigarette type smokiness. i have some American Virginia tobacco that i extracted, which taste like a cigarette but doesn't have the taste notes you get from flavored pipe tobacco..

one of the reasons i've stayed away from using pipe tobacco for extraction is im afraid of all the artifical/chemicals they spray to get the aroma/flavor they produce. right now i'm looking for some naturally flavored pipe tobacco. going to visit a local shop later today that might have some naturally flavored pipe tobaccos. all i'm really looking for is a pipe tobacco that uses natural vanilla. i'd like to try this one from P&G: CAO Bella Vanilla - PipesandCigars.com but i'm going to see what i can get locally first.

Have you ever tried Patriot after 3 months of steeping ? The smoke tastes like a cigarillo or cigar and during breathing out through the nose its the strongest smokiness i have ever had. It dont taste like a cigarette so i dont believe that it could be only cigarette tobacco, no !

There is nothing that have such a realistic smoke taste like the taste of a really burning tobacco.

i have tried several of their eliquids.. last i remember Patriot is a blend of 3-4 different American tobaccos.. by cigarette i mean it has that smoky cigarette sensation, not that it taste like an actual cigarette. stick to whatever works for you. DIY or buying from online shops. i prefer to make my own to my own taste because i like strong tobacco flavor often which many online NETs lack.

I have been using Patriot for a long time and it gets better each day that goes by. It is one of the more authentic tobaccos I have ever tried - more bite than others, and a tiny amount of cigar flavor. It is a blend of at least three different tobaccos- Virginia, Perique and one more ingredient responsible for that bite - perhaps Latakia, or else a cigar type tobacco. Mine is a year old, and it tastes like heaven.

GEJ also a light cigarette flavor called Wrangler, also very good.

But what could it be ? We all knows virginia, perique, latakia and other nets but this is very different from the nets i know. Nets are changing with steeping and goes stronger, but staying alone flavours too. I think its a cigar flavour but a really good one. How are cigar flavours made ?

One year old ? Mine is very strong after 3 months. Does it change after this time ?

Patriot does change a bit after three months, but not drastically. It just matures into something more smooth and pleasant. From the description on the website, these are the three ingredients : Louisiana Perique, Virginia Burley, and Kentucky Cavendish.

I am still trying to solve the mystery where does that bite come from. I agree it might be cigar leaves, but it could also be the Kentucky or the Perique ...

LeafOnly has several types of leaves used for cigar, or cigar wrappers. I know nothing about them.

I sometimes mix Patriot with Hangsen tobaccos, and the results are very good.
