You almost cant tell that the vinyl is touching the buttons, all 3 of them. But if you look very carefully the vinyl is touching the buttons and now it's a low noise pv, no bat rattle no buttons shaking, oh so good. :)
I will try this too. Yours looks great, and it would be great to get rid of the rattle on the fire button.

I skinned one of my VAMOs with an art deco inlay pattern using the 3D carbon vinyl. The vinyl is textured even though it doesn't show up in the photo.

I would highly recommend the 3D carbon vinyl to anyone who is tempted to give wrapping their own VAMO or any other PV a try. The vinyl is heavier than the inkjet printable vinyl, is repositionable many times and couldn't be more more forgiving when working with it. It's also very easy to remove air bubbles.

This is the template I used (plain, no deco pattern) which shows no gaps between the VAMO skin sections. The extension cap and battery section edges might become tatty looking in time because there is no metal underneath to support them.
Print at 100% - VAMO_template_carbon.pdf
Open source Inkscape should be able to edit this .svg file if you need to tweak dimensions. Also, most electronic cutter software should be able to import this file. - VAMO template carbon.svg.zip
Open source Inkscape should be able to edit this .svg file if you need to tweak dimensions. Also, most electronic cutter software should be able to import this file - VAMO template carbon.studio
Pattern for the deco design - print at 100% on printable vinyl. VAMO template carbon deco.pdf

If someone has access to an electronic cutter and wants the .svg or .studio file for the deco inlay pattern PM me and I will email the file(s) you want. Doing the inlay is an insanely fiddly, idiot's delight project so I didn't bother putting the files up on Dropbox.

this is soooo gorgeous!

I got the chrome wrapped tonight. I much prefer the feel of the vinyl over the clammy metal of the chrome. I need to improve my cutting technique, but it's not horrible for a first try...the next one will be better. I also covered the bottom of the battery cap (cut a .91" circle, apply it, heat with hair dryer to soften the vinyl, and push the edge down around the bevel).

I ordered the black carboned textured sample. I don't really wnat to wrap the whole VAMO but want to do the bottom 2 sections so the thing dosnt slip out of my hand again! 1 time shame on me 2 times broke VAMO!
That's no good at all. I hope you got it back up and running. Just wrapping the bottom might look pretty cool, and the sample sizes are still enough to do a lot with them.

Got mine done today on the Silhouette. Cutting a few different options, applying, removing, reapplying...the whole process took 5 minutes. I'm forever indebted to peraspera for the template! Since I will go "shorty" most of the time, I decided on the solid piece and left the bottom piece uncovered for now. I like each look though. And that was another bonus, like Coiso said...NO MORE RATTLING BUTTONS. Who expected that? Not this girl. So here she is....

That looks great tiforever, very girly pink. I'm still on the fence about purchasing a Silhouette, but starting to fall off on the side of buying one. Peraspera's templates were great, I had to cut mine out by hand.

Thanks - and the goal was girly and different :) I am now lovingly referring to her as the "Pink Pope"

If you are wanting to purchase a Silhouette just for this, please don't. LOL. I would be more than happy to PIF and help you out if you just send me the material. If you are wavering, do this. buy the Silhouette Portrait. My sister "wasn't sure" either, so she chose the less expensive model when it came out. So far, she does everything that I do with my full sized one. Just a suggestion :)

Very nice job on doing it yourself. Myself + scissors/razor = 5 year old project gone terribly wrong.

Girls should have pretty pink things.
I took my time...but I have located my leather punch and I'm ready to do another (better?) wrap. I will PM you one of these days and take you up on your PIF offer, if I don't go look at the Portrait and order one:) I will have to check it out. I looked for the Silhouette because peraspera mentioned it; I don't know anything about these devices other than this thread. Peraspera has also inspired me to wrap as many things as I can, even if they aren't as fancy as her custom wraps.

Nothing so fancy. Marble-ish shelf covering from Lowes. (Eventually I'll get a nice wrap, but for now I just wanted it to stop feeling slick with juice, etc.)
LOL it doesn't look like the shelf vinyl... it looks better than that in the photo. If you are interested in one of the other carbon fiber types, you can find them pretty cheaply on Amazon and ebay. I bought these, 2 sheets so you can mess one up and still cover your Vamo:). The same seller carries it in black (I bought those too):
2 pieces 4" x 8" Sample Size 3D Twill Weave White Silver Carbon Fiber Vinyl Sheet : Amazon.com : Automotive
These are also good, with many more selections of style and color:
m2-racing | eBay
One hint if you use the carbon fiber vinyl...cut if from the front. I tried to cut mine from the back, and it is a little sloppy because of it. The carbon fiber is a little tougher to cut through than the shelf liner vinyl. I plan to try again, I just haven't gotten around to it.

I stopped in Office Depot to get more ink and found office depot brand white matte finish bumper sticker labels. It says it's water resistant and special adhesive to allow repositioning. I'll play with it tomorrow and see how it goes.

I can't wait to hear the results! For design purposes, what graphics program would anyone suggest? Photo Shop? Art Rage? Corel?

I'm a Corel user, but many swear by the Adobe products. I would say you can't go wrong with either one. I am sure, however, that there are simpler products available. Do you have any graphic software now?
