I ride dirt bikes and off-road vehicles, and the people within our hobby with this type of attitude are the ones that have succeeded in getting us shut out almost everywhere. Just because it's legal to ride within 50 feet of a row of backyards in a housing tract at 8:00 am on a Sunday doesn't mean it's a good idea - and it certainly doesn't do anything to further our cause. Nobody is being "harmed" by the noise and dust, but they're certainly being irritated by it - and that's what turns somebody from being neutral/not caring about an issue into somebody who's violently opposed to it. Exercising the "right" to ride anywhere/everywhere it's not outright prohibited has resulted in a lot of "No Trespassing", "No Off-Road Vehicle Activity", etc. signs being posted because people didn't exercise a little common sense/courtesy.

vaping can go down the exact same road (and it's already headed that way). I don't advocate hiding in a dark closet to vape for fear of offending somebody, but I don't advocate walking around blowing clouds anywhere and everywhere just because it's not explicitly prohibited either. There's a middle ground which involves using a little common sense and having courtesy for those around you. Being militant and flagrant about it only serves to turn more people against it, which is not what we need.

nice try but those neighbors ARE being harmed by the noise

show me the harm to a bystander and i'll cut it out

Looks like you are afraid of your government.

Stand up for what you believe in, Just don't forget to use common sense.

i can't read your mind and neither can the Government (Thank goodness.)

No fear, just ZERO Trust in our gov't.

I do agree: Stand up for what you believe in, Just don't forget to use common sense. And to me that tell me to not vape in a movie theater, at a restaurant, or anywhere else that "smoking" is prohibited. Common sense tells me that if they don't want smoking, they will probably be against vaping too.

yeah well i dont want 70 yr old ladies wearing white linen perfume at the next table...i dont want my neighbor out there billowing smoke for 10 hours while he cooks a brisket...im sick and tired of smelling cookies when i walk into the deli dept of walmart

my vaping doesnt disrepect anyone in the same way bbqing in your backyard isnt disrespecting anyone....

Look I don't know where you got the impression you could vape anywhere you wanted to. I am sure from Prosmoke simliar to me. If you want to blow up a cloud in a restaurant I am in I will calmly go to the manager and inform him/her. If they do not do anything I will walk out without paying for my dinner.

Ecigs PVs whatever you want to call them will be regulated by states as far as where and when to vape just like smokes. You can bad boy it all you want. Just respect the laws of the state and establishments. When the laws were written.. yes many of these are state laws not allowing smoking in public places or 25 feet from the door.. e cigs weren't heard of.... Now they are out in public... Look what is happening. You can be blind all you want.

Look I was against the laws against smoking. The people voted it into our states constitution. I believe the business owner should be able to choose if they wish to allow smoking or not. I still believe that.

I make a killer brisket man.

I vape tall and proud wherever I am if the urge hits me. Occasionally I'll be asked not vape in the establishment and I stop calling right then. I also leave that establishment and go to a competitor. Usually I've found that most businesses I frequent have no problem with me vaping. I've had barristas at coffee shops, bartenders in bars and waitresses in restaurants explain to other customers that vaping is allowed and that it's not smoking. Since I've started vaping 3 barristas at my favorite coffee shop, 2 bartenders at my favorite bar and a waitress at a village inn I frequent have all started vaping. In addition, I know of a few customers at each type that have started vaping also. That's around 10 people that switched from analogs to vaping because I refuse to stealth vape.

...I make a killer brisket man.
Me too....but I'm not going to intentionally move my wood-fired smoker right against the fence where the smoke will blow into my neighbor's window and then scream "I HAVE THE RIGHT TO SMOKE BRISKET IN MY OWN BACKYARD!!!1!!1!!!" when he complains about it.

Again...a little common sense and courtesy goes a long ways.

I only have a neighbor to the side and behind. My grill is on the other side. On occasion wind has picked up and blew some clouds to the one on the side. They were outside in the back. I took two cold beers over and apologized for the clouds. he and his wife said no problem thanks for the beer and make sure to give them some.

Thankfully I have some good neighbors.

BTW.. you made me chuckle with ""I HAVE THE RIGHT TO SMOKE BRISKET IN MY OWN BACKYARD!!!1!!1!!!""

I'm sorry but I think if a place is smoke-free zone then you shouldn't vape there either...and should thus vape in designated smoke areas, it is after all only the polite thing to do...

The polite thing to do is breath second hand smoke?

Then what the hell is the problem with smoking indoors?

Sorry, no... I will not go stand in the smoking section and breath second hand smoke... I'm NOT a Smoker.

I'll stop frequenting a place that suggests that, before I comply... I stopped smoking for a reason.

It is not smoke...It is not burning....It is not a tobacco product.

Sorry, Point at me and tell your kids I'm wrong.
I'll be the bad example.
We have enough sheep.

Run with a knife
I

I agree, I was at the College and they have signs everywhere stating its a Smoke free, tobacco free campus, your not even suppose to have Tobacco products in your car on the lot, Well guess what, I Don't I vape zero nicotine, so i have nothing but fruity deserts in my pocket, but how would i be able to convince anyone that i am not using nicotine?
I wish everyone would stop calling it Ecigs and just call it vaporizer or Electronic Vapers or something, I never smoked and don't want to be called a smoker

I mean as far as vaping indoors...if a building is smoke free and you openly vape there, that to me would be down right disrespectful.
But in that same statement you see I admit I do vape indoors, which I never did as a smoker. In fact as stated my boss encourages me to vape indoors just out of sight of customers.

outdoors to hell with that ;) I vape where I want. I out of respect try not to vape too closely to doorways....because even though no it's not secondhand smoke it's still a vape cloud that I wouldn't want to walk through someone else's vape cloud to enter or exit a building....

Took my kids to the zoo and I vaped while walking around the zoo, because it isn't smoking and let them tell me otherwise, but while inside any buildings of the zoo I did not vape.

My point is just that while no it's not smoking and thus far no it's not harmful to bystanders (again if you read my second statement my 4 yr old plays in my vape clouds) it is still a respect issue.

And I have actually been to interviews and buildings that have warnings posted about not wearing perfumes and deodorants due to people with bad asthma.

I agree that vaping should be allowed everywhere, but we are not at that stage yet and until the mainstream sees that vaping is not the same as smoking....outright vaping in the middle of a grocery store, movie theater or likewise will only merit to the misinformed media and put a bad name on vaping.

I am all for vapors vaping where they please but taking other peoples "feelings" into consideration. And as this is still a new concept to most, lets not staunch the movement by being forgive me for the lack of better wording but jack-asses in your face, screw you attitude. Because people are still misinformed and inclined to take a bad note on vaping and thus make a bad choice if and when the FDA decides to actually start putting regulations on it.

That's not anymore disrespectful than another customer wearing nasty perfume... IF the business allows it.

If the business has a no vaping policy... I wouldn't vape there... but if it doesn't no customer is going to force me out into the smoking section...

even if a business has a no vaping policy... I'm not going to go stand in the smoking section to vape... I either won't vape, or I won't patronize that business.

well, we differ there...

If a business has a no-vape policy...

I generally vape up to the doorway, exhaling as I enter or just before.

Also, as I leave, I generally pull out my mod and start taking a drag as i reach the door... exhaling as i exit.

Never had a complaint.

I vape freely at work... it's an office setting... artsy, marketing office.

When we have clients in the office, I refrain from vaping.

That's my choice, not 'policy'.

Actually we are... and it won't last much longer.

I have vaped in the grocery store

ALWAYS in the movies, though out of respect for the picture I stealth there(a cloud going up in front of the screen would be annoying)

That's not my issue... my issue is Vapers acting like they are doing something wrong... going and standing in the smoking section... I mean, how many non-smokers go out to the smoking section to chew gum? It's silly.

You speak of respecting others... I'm talking about having self respect.

We Are Vapers... Not Smokers.
