Purchased my second ViVi today, unwound the wicks on a 2.4 which measured at 2.5 filled it, let it sit for 20 minutes and have had no issues so far. The juice I am using is a 50/50 on the second tank and the flavor was muted to start with. I put the same juice in a boge 2.4 and the tank has more flavor. So far I am loving these, as soon as I get the rebuilding of the atty down I plan on getting some new wicks and going to town on this unit. I am not a modder but I like the design so much I am willing to learn. :D

If you can't upload send it to me at daniel@gotvapes.com and I'll post it to the server and edit your message so its not an attachment to ECF's servers but it just shows up in the body of your message.

I sent the pics to you, not sure if you got them.

mwa would that be the nextel stuff your talking about? i would be very curious to hear how well this works :)

No, I have the Nextel in big rollls though, and tried adding a couple strands, that stuff is a coin flip some may like it some may not,,sometimes its good all by itself, sometimes just adding a strand or two to the silica can be good too,,,But the Ceramic I used is a real piece of ceramic, made to my spec,, I got some samples from a ceramic company Harmonic, in porous and non porous in a few different specs

Received my ViVi today, and haven't fired it up yet, but made some measurements on the coils out of curiosity after reading all the posts in this thread. The results, taken with a very accurate, calibrated VOM:

Stated Resistance......Measured Reisitance
.....1.8 Ohms....................2.3 Ohms
.....2.4 Ohms....................3.8 Ohms
.....2.8 Ohms....................3.1 Ohms

Assuming that a Kanthal A-1 Type wire is used in making the coils, it has a very small positive heat coefficient, meaning that if anything the resistance will go up very slightly when the coil is heated.

The above measurements will assist me in determinng what voltage I use to operate the unit.

Obviously there needs to be some QC attention in the manufactue of the coils.

Now, this is promising. :) I got another ViVi too, though it hasn't shown up yet - I have hopes that it will be ok.

Plus, like you, I'm going to have some fun with coil rebuilding. Looks like a worthwhile hobby anyways. I'm actually looking forward to it. It would be great to build my own coils to my own specifications. Lots to learn tho...

An earnest request to the experts from a would-be coil tinkerer:

Could you folks point me in the right direction as far as the basics go? I did read your directions, MWA, and followed them as best I could, but while I saw what you meant, it didn't work... I watched the video you recommended, too. The questions I have though are all about the materials: how do I figure out which wicks are best, and which wire, and how do I figure out what the final resistance is going to be, and which wire is good/bad/ugly? This is a big forum, and it's hard to figure out which is good info, which not so good, and to dig through umpteen million posts... Can you just sort of shove me towards the good stuff? I'd really love to learn, but I'm feeling overwhelmed...

@WA3PNT...That is exactly how my heads measured with my multimeter as well. I am currently using the 1.8 ohm head, but I did a little modding to it. I actually trimmed the rubber cap, or what ever it is called, just a little notch around the wicks. This seems to pinch the wicks a lot less. I didn't remove any wicks as other people have. I am having very good luck with this setup. I actually pulled out a juice I didn't like in anything else I have tried, loaded it up in the tank(what did I have to lose?), and it actually tastes ......ing great! It cut out a very little notch as I said. It just made the wicks sit in the tank a little nicer. I am having no problem with wicking, dry hits, or leaking. So far this tank is a win for me. I just wish the resistance was actually correct as it is printed on the different heads. I mean they are way off under load, and with no load. I am looking forward to see what else this tank ends up providing!

Rockinrobby/estarra did a great video on rewicking the stardust and has links to the coil wire and wick. Just goodgle Gotvapes Stardust: Changing the Wick & Coil and it should be at the top. It is a lot easier doing it with the loose wick like he uses than a vision/fluxo with as its rough until ya get it down to get the coil the right fit using a nail/needle as the small braided wick tends to spin and fray. His video is good.

I rewicked a head today with kanthal 32 and a vision wick and its working really good. Wicks down in the tank and no issues with fantastic flavor and good vapor. No gurgles or nothing.

the one time i got the nextel to hold together i liked it ok. just found it hard to work with but it should be easy to used this way.
sounds like it could be promising. i look forward to hearing your findings ;)

on related topics i got out my 1.8 head to prep and found it does the same thing others have mentioned where the tails light up before the coil. the only time it does not do it is when everything is bone dry. even when its dripping wet it starts glowing from under the coil. i haven't vaped it and after a lot of playing and dry (and wet) burning the coil just wont act right. i tried moving it around and such but that did not seem to help any at all. not really sure now why its doing this but its not going in the tank like this :(

anyone have a video of replacing the wick and coil on these yet? I took one apart and its not the same as a stardust same method doesn't seem to apply.

It is the same exact thing just a smaller center pin. The key is to leave a inch or so of coil wire at the ends and put the seal/pin in and either use a small pair of snips or sucher/cuticle scissors to cut off the wires or use the old bend til it breaks trick by moving the wire back and forth. If you look at a factory head you can feel where they did the same thing if ya run a needle or pick against the rubber seal.

It really is the same way just with leaving the coil wire long till its all together. I have rebuilt a ton of stardusts and now 3 heads.

I've been keeping the leads longer, and then sliding them through the base. With my aging eyesight, it's helped greatly. Then I pass one through the center, pop the center connection in, and cut both. Working 100% for me, and it is probably how I am going to show it during the review. I hope to have it recorded tonight.

Ya thats the only trick. The rest is just like Robs vid. works great so far so think im gonna pick up some 2mm silica as I have enough kanthal to last about 5 years.

On a side note I dont know how it happened or what I did to make it happen but I have a little white cloudy dot on my tank. You think a little boiling drop from a dry burn could do that? its very odd and never had it happen before. I dont think its any kind of plastic defect or type of juice reaction as its right inline where the slits end on the tube where the wicks come out.

If this has been addressed already... My bad .... Ive been on this thread from git go when we all got this first order and I finally have time to mess with this thing. Its been Idle for several days and I can hear my stardusts making fun of it as it sits in the back of the class being mocked and ridiculed.

So....How in the world there can be tons of vapor and hardly any flavor ?? Im sure thats been addressed somewhere and may seem like a newbie question but I came into this game when the stardusts hit the street so thats what I started on. ( fill a carto with a syringe ???? What for ??????? Tried that AFTER the stardust ( Ego Visions ) .. not feelin it.

Im getting off track....

Im looking down at the coil on the 1.8 under magnification( tests at 2.5 ) and the coil is lighting up very nicely. Yes, both leads are also glowing just as red as the coil, prior to hitting the actual wraps of the coil. I can see that they are red all the way to the point where they get trapped by the inner boot, or go down thru to meet up with the center pin.

The wicks arent strangled in the coil at all as I am able to move them side to side slightly as they pass thru the coil. I could also see that the wicks were NOT being strangled / pinched by the silicone cap over the center stem either. I did cut down the wicks and ditched the loose one that was laying on top . I know the coil is getting its share of juice since its producing HEAPS of vapor.

Head scratcher....

Im about to rip it apart and put another coil and wick in it but it doesnt make any sence when this one is seemingly burning well. Am I being fooled by a glowing red coil ??? Does the fact that the leads are glowing red as well have an adverse effect on the heat / temp of the actual coiled area??

Did I miss a day of school ?

What to do.... what to do....

Well ordered it received it let it sit while I enjoyed my stardusts.

After showing it off tO the local ecig shop owner i broke it out yesterday.

Put about 3/4 of a tank through a nasty tasting tank...not much different then I do with a new stardust just a different nasty taste. Didn't wash it, didn't trim it, didn't do anything but gut it out while sitting reading this thread chuckling at the new adopters dreaming of the first perfect hit out of the box. I on the other hand felt I was a test dummy as with the new fluxomizer "supreme" which was a total disappointment after the deluxe and the stardust btw.

So on with the review.

After simply vaping 3mls the taste is pretty much on par with the stardust (ordered 12 more 2 of every color stardusts yesterday) which is great after you got out the horrible "break in taste". If you have tried the stardust and didn't taste the initial yuck then it may be you liquid. The stardust yuck taste was easily masked if I filled it up with Halo Smooth8 vice my all day vape Torque 56 which is a much lighter tasting liquid. It is as good or better then the Vision 3 tank for vaper, and flavor now with quite a bit less throat hit. I'd say very cool for a top coil device. Raising voltage over 4 volts on the 2.8 ohm head only produced a burnt taste.

Likes:
- Fast cheap shipping from Gotvapes as always.
- Easiest filling of any tank a no brainer... Thank you I am retired and lazy!
- Huge Vapor at every voltage even down to 3 volts.
- No dry hits whats so ever with 80/20 pg/vg liquid just like my beloved stardust.
- Solid construction..which is well thought out leaning on the VS3 tech. Which worked great.
- Draw holes in botton vice threads allows you to easily adjust the draw and use on a lavatube...initially way too airy for me.
- Should work with a huge range of liquids due to the ability to vary the wick thickness and leght easily and since the silicone cap is completely round and is always pushed down all the way you could cut several "v" cuts in different depths to adjust wicking to different viscosity juices. Aligning it to different v for each juice type.
- Three heads included...great for non-vv folks and an extra bonus for the us vv folks to have free replacement heads
- NO Leaks
- Does not gurgle like a VS3.
- Very rewarding once you suffer through the breaking period.
- Apparently rebuildable if you so desire or need to when they are no longer available which shouldn't be long.

Dislike
- The break in period cost about $2 of premium juice.
- The break in period makes me want to fire up any other device in my house.
- Drip tip hole slightly large.
- Graduation lines makes it look like a syringe mod...are they necessary in any way?
- Will probably be upraded like the fluxomizer to the viva supreme and never work...although it is a great way to get me to order 10 so I can use it for the foreseeable future without figuring out the trick to the next greatest thing from GotVapes. Or at least two more and a bunch of heads.
- Doesn't really seem to respond to changes in voltage other then the speed and the length of draw needed. I don't get that.
- Will make my other tanks 3ml tanks jealous as it so easy to fill it will be used until Gotvapes doesn't have them anymore.
- Need a 1.8 and 5 ml version with same inners....you might corner the market on all CE2 sales if you did that. Think of the convenience that would be. Three tanks and replacement heads working for all three.
- Produced 26 pages of useless reading....lol.
- No replacement heads yet.
- Site is down for maintenance.

All in all a great upgrade to the vs3 with the breakin period and ease of use of a stardust.

Thanks Gotvapes for bringing new stuff to the marker..now leave it for a while could you?

Arthur

P.s. Go back to the Fluxomizer Deluxe the Supreme isn't half the device and I want something for my standard batteries that looks like it belongs on there to tempt others into vaping rather than smoking..lol.
