GORMLY,

Seeing is understanding. put an atty on fully charged 4.2v battery, and meter it, then underloaad,(observe difference). then take the hook up standard usb PT and meter it w/o atty, then with atty(observe difference)

I think you will find that there is a much large difference in the second setup...

Volts Ohms and Amps they are a balancing act in a closed set.

try this analogy, guy correct me if I am wrong!, volts is horse power, amps is torque, and ohms is aerodynamics, using those three things you can calculate speed(Watts) Not an EXACT match but maybe close enough.

Your usb port doesn't have enough torque to spare to jack up the HP.

ever wonder how a million volt stun gun doesn't kill you...No amps!

Gormly,

You are making pretty much the same thing I am... forget USB power source... get a 12v 2-4 a wall adapter, from an old appliance.. drill, walkie charger, old router, oold printer or laptop..Just any old 12v 2a or higher.... then put a female USB port as an output next to your 510/901/808/801 battery connector. put a select switch or just leave it energized...

The PDMM-20 multi meter arrived and it is a small unit that is useless for us. It does not measure below 6 ohms with any accuracy. So I threw it in my portable tool box, another meter always handy for other tests.

Bummer :(

Does anyone know what I could use to turn the pot screw on my little regulator? its the tiny screw and I'd like to add a wheel to for the outside of my casing it but cant find any???

Little plastic wheels from toy cars or airplanes, adjustment knob from an old AA clock, plastic buttons..

adding to the post above, this was my thinking on wiring the whole thing together???

the rocker has three position but only three poles on the bottom so I am assuming it can divert power based on position

Yours will work, but if i were doing it I would combine all the (-) direct with no switch and put the trigger switch between the regulator and to the center post of the (on off on) switch and in this way you are directing the positive to the individual attys. Also look on the meter there is a (-) and the rest are (+) use the 1 for your (+), these meters sometimes don't work if you connect only one source to the higher numbers. I f you also want to ck battery voltage you can put another (0n off on) for the meter and select between battery and regulator and off in the center position. You will be bothered with it on all the time. Do not think that you can connect the battery to the #2 post of the meter, these meter are meant to sequence like voltage cells and after sequencing gives yo a total of all cells, up to six. This doesn't work for us. The trigger switch after the regulator works with less voltage.

yikes I am kinda lost now :(

you mean like this?

also that's dc in, not a battery :)

lm 2596 have a on/off pin.Use this pin to turn on or off the modd., it`s about of pin number 5.First pull up this pin to + with 220 -270 k resistor (off state), and switch from pin5 to ground to (turn on when press SW). I posted a schematic with lm2576/lm2596 somewhere here on forum.

I am starting my NEW VV box thread Valled Swiss Army VV box mod. Be patient with me it is going to be a slow process.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/battery-mods/251004-swiss-army-vv-box-mod.html

Gormly.... use high temp hot glue and a .5mm brass washerto glue the "dial to the Pot knob. in fact I use Hot Glue for just about everything... It has great holding strength, it is flexible and if a glued joiont comes off it is easy to clean an redo. I was thinking about leaving it w/o a dial. Just drill a small hole and use a coffee stir to sit around the pot knob and the other end flush with the project box. you would use jewelers driver on it, but the stir would act as a guide so it would be easy.
