When I get my Volts this week, any suggestions on what I need to do with them before use? We're talking MAJOR neophyte here, and didn't know if there was a primer on non-disposables. :D

When it comes to cleaning time, is this something people do on a routine or wait for the unit to lose efficacy and then clean?

Yes there are some major steps to take. Open box, screw on prefilled cartomizer and vape. Next step is to start spare batteries charging. They usually come about 80% or better charged. You don't have to run them down before charging like the old ni cads or nimh. You can charge these at any point you feel like it. Cleaning can be done at anytime as well. You can wipe them off before charging or you can wait until performance drops. I usually keep alcohol wipes I get at Wally's Pharmacy for about a dollar a hundred and if I think about it wipe the threads and use a plastic toothpick to rub it around in the channel between the post and side. There are also a couple of small holes under the threads to poke something through once in a while or if the draw starts getting stiff. If you need any more info there's usually somebody around here to help. I't's simpler than this explanation.

There's no primer or anything like that. Just open the package screw on a carto and you're good to go.
As far as cleaning, i clean my batteries once a week. It's very easy to do. Take a look at steeljans video on the S I website

The batteries will come with a partial charge so you can try them right away. There's no primer on/in the cartos. Just pop one out of the blister pack, take off the two end protectors and screw onto the battery and enjoy.

While trying the one battery, put the other on the charger to get that one fully charged. Then when the 1st one needs charging you have the 2nd ready to go.

When using prefilled cartos I don't find the need to clean the battery very often. But if you carry them around in your pocket or the bottom of the wife's purse without a carto attached, you'd want to wipe off any dirt/lint/dust/crumbs that might end up around the connector.

edit: criminy,,, I should have noticed there was a next page with the same answers already. Oh well... guess that makes mine a +1
