What IS the infatuation with "Massive Clouds" of "vapor"?? Is it necessary for enjoyment or a fad?

Nope - Freak Show by Good Life Vapor. Pretty good if you like orange chocolate.

It's certainly legitimate to discuss anything ;-). I don't know anything about the process involved in attempting to climb Everest so I don't have an opinion about weather climbers should be evaluated better. I would assume the people who want to climb Everest are reasonably experienced mountain climbers and should know the risks. In this case if they feel like taking the risk and die, well, it was their choice. This will not cause me to think that mountain climbing, or climbing Everest is a bad thing.

I'm not an Everest climber, but when it comes to guides, there are those that are responsible and will only talk to experienced climbers that have successfully made the summit of "X" mountains over a certain height.

And there are those that will take anyone with enough money and leave their corpses littering the trail to the summit.

Back to vaping, the problem is when vape shops set up newbies with gear that's dangerous or needs training to use safely and they don't provide it. These customers have no experience with vaping and should expect not to be sold hardware that's dangerous for them to use, even if they ask for it. Sure if there were no videos out there showing huge clouds people would not be looking for it, but it is what it is and there's nothing we can do about it. But there is no reason for big-cloud vaping to be dangerous. That is totally on the shops that sell dangerous gear to unsuspecting people. That's why I feel this problem is rooted in bad business practices, not cloud chasing.

That's a tough call to make for a shop owner. You have someone that walks in ready to throw cash at you, do you risk the sale by trying to "downgrade" the customer to something simpler and safer? I think I know what the ethical thing to do would be, but we all know there are shops that are in it just to turn a quick buck.

The e-cigarette.. by design is actually a miniature version of a fog machine.
However..
If you want to concentrate on flavor...eat bacon!
If you want throat hit...get a boyfriend!
If you want to produce clouds that come out of your mouth and nostrils...This is a good place to start

I don't know how to take that, but my Mom and Dad raised me to treat other human beings as something other than a punching bag...

How other people vape is always of interest to me. Cloud chasers, really? You're into that? Knock yourself out. I only draw the line when there are people in the room who don't smoke and never smoked and feel they have to put up with some clown covering them in vapour to show them how 'cool' they are (because obviously the question of how 'cool' this person is or is not was at the very tip top of their list of priorities when they started their day).

Cloud chase in your own space and love it to death and I'm right beside you cheering you on. Do it in other people's faces who don't want it and I say reconsider your value in the company of others.

I equate blowing clouds in someone's face (or into their personal "bubble") just as rude as blowing cigarette smoke at them.

I'm a little bit surprised at the responses to the OP. I was expecting the cloud defenders to come out and say how the clouds made a huge difference in flavor enhancement.

In my limited experience I can't say that big cloud always equals good flavor.

The only thing that bothers me about it to a certain extent is seeing newbies jumping straight into something they have no concept of.

There is this impatience and sense of urgency coming from new users to tackle sub-ohming. To "cloud chase."

There was a thread a few weeks ago with a guy asking about his very first set-up he was sent home from a B&M with. It was a dual coil .4Ω Igo-W on a K100. Darwin award for the B&M. The poster handled the situation and advice offered here fairly well, realizing he had been sold something a bit inappropriate for his experience level. I'm sure he'll be fine; but honestly being a naive new user he was set up for potentially dangerous mistakes, like buying the wrong kind of spare batteries off of eBay, or moving his coils around and shorting them. Brand new e-cig user sent home with a .4Ω dual coil and notta clue!

I feel bad for the beginning vaper that doesn't accidentally stumble across this forum. Although I have almost 30 years experience with electronics, electricity, and batteries, I'm glad for the information I've been able to find here. I know Ohm's law backwards and forwards, but I still pick up new tidbits to add to my brain on an almost daily basis.

At least it seems most of the younger folk have learned by now that you can look anything up on the Internet. I doubt there's many libraries around with volumes of information on vaping. At least not yet.

I don't know about other people. I started out on this forum a few months ago with a c twist and evod tank. I took baby steps bought a itaste mvp and a tesla apv. Loved my iclear30s. But its a different story. My k100 and nimbus is a subohm. I personally built it that way because vapings my hobby. But my k100 sits on the shelf when I leave the house. My mvp or tesla hits the road. I blow clouds. In my own home. I know the risks. I know me vaping at .7 ohms could be dangerous but anything can be dangerous hell you could choke on water. In my opinion sub ohms, rebuildables and mechs aren't for everybody. But for those who do like i do enjoy in moderation

i love the clouds of vaper, yes i does, but i gots to tell yah it comes at a price for example listen to this,

in my van on my windshield, the vaper piles up baby yes it does and once a week I gots to wipe it down with a window cleaner, that is the only bad part about clouds of vape, it get on your auto winshield and you cant see good unless you clean it.

I think it falls into the same category as just about any hobby out there. The cloud chasers (sub ohm style) seem, from the comments here are oftentimes hobbyists, pushing their gear to the limits.. I am sure if they raced RC cars, they would build the fastest.. if it was Street racing, they would have the lowest, most tuned ride on the street...

The other end are the newcomers.. again, I think it's the influence of the hobbyists.. they have a friend who blows clouds, so they jump right in.

and, again, there are different styles of everything for everyone... I just hope that everyone is safe about it all...

i'm not that far along in my journey into vaping so, i'm satisfied at this point
with my ego batts,vision ce4's,and iclear16 ce5's.i also have kr808d1 and,dse901 set ups
for stealthy vaping.
one day i want to get one of these. Innokin iTaste 134
not because i want 8 man hookah sized clouds of vape but, because i think it looks
really cool.

as for any one else i say live and let live.
lets not forget that those increasing the vaping envelope are the innovators
of the vaping community.
much of what is pretty much main stream now was developed by ordinary vapors(not vendors)
pushing the envelope, thinking outside the box, looking for that bigger, better, more satisfying experience.
this a lot like amateur radio.they developed many things including satellite communications, micro wave communications,
cell phone communications,etc...etc...
there experimenting led to many things we take for granted today.not the companies that
ultimately produced and sold the products.

mike

I didn't start out chasing clouds, but after a couple of stick batteries, I got into mods and RBA/RDA's, and soon after the ego's where just not satisfying. Don't get me wrong, I still love my trusty silver ego and protank, and it has it's place, but for overall satisfaction I find myself reaching for something with a little more punch! I guess for me it's not so much about turning my living room into a nightclub, and more about overall enjoyment.

I don't get it either, for me it's Nic hit, TH, then flavor, I like to see just enough vapor to fill the psychological need to believe I'm smoking.

Just because it's not for me doesn't mean it's wrong. To each their own. I like strawberry ice cream others like chocolate, doesn't mean chocolate is bad.

cloud chasers remind me of the people on hi powered motorcycles doing wheelies down the Interstate at 80+ mph.... must be the thrill of just being able to do it....

The difference there is the guy on the motorcycle could kill other people doing it. If I want a huge cloud of vapor am I going to kill the person beside me?

Who needs a loud exhaust on a Civic? Who needs a brand name purse? Who needs 26" rims on an Olds Cutlass? Who needs huge clouds of vapor? Who needs $200+ mods/attys? Who needs gourmet liquid?

The answer to all of those is "The person that has or wants it." If I want to blow huge clouds on my sofa am I bothering you?
