i have been dripping but this sounds good... what you just stuff the material in the cart?

I'm using just regular lipton tea bags. Cut a tea bag and get all the tea out and then cut a strip of it. I use a RN4081 so my carts are really small, you'll just have to try and eyeball how big the strip should be depending on the model you use (you won't need alot of material in the cart, the rolled tea bag should be loose). After I cut the strip I take a paperclip and bend the end out, then roll the strip around the end tightly, put the rolled strip and paper clip in the cart and pull the paper clip out. After you have the strip in the cart, just trim the end so it fits. Good luck :)

Oh, and the cigarette filter wicks don't flood the atomizer or leak into your mouth.

Edit: The filters can be purchased at a tobacco store at around $2 for 200.

I Have been using the tea bag material for a week or so, and the problem I have always had is juice in my mouth if I draw too hard when it is freshly topped. Also, my atomizer is flooded constantly. Sounds like a damn coach whistle when I clean it...

I'm thinking about trying Fluval and cig filters. Also, I want to get some coffee stirrers. That seems to be a mod specifically for a sponge type material.

The analog filter sounds like an interesting idea. I haven't been too impressed with the few menthol flavors I've found with ecigs. I wonder if you bought the menthol filters and used them how that would work....might have to try that. When you use the filters do you like separate it a little or just cut them to size?

I was using "Southern Cross" brand menthol filters. No menthol flavor comes out of them; I think they put the flavor in the paper.

I definitely recommend to "separate it a little." I think it would hold more fluid that way. I haven't tried using without separating it. In a RN4081 (NPRO), it only takes about a third of the filter. I cut them in length by half and can make six wicks from one analog filter.

I just now filled one to verify what I'm saying. I put 5 drops in an empty RN4081 cartridge, then put the wick in with tweezers, then 2 more drops until it pools (these are very small cartridges). I turned it upside down and it doesn't leak a drop. I put it all together and vape away.

I think I've found the way I'll stick with. Maybe someday when I'm bored and richer, I'll try another way. I can't imagine anything that would beat the price and performance factors though.

Another note: I've been using the same cartridge for about a week, with just topping it off with 2 drops at a time. They seem to be very reusable.

I thought I'd try that cigarette filter idea...

I like that suggestion because they are resistant to heat damage, and I have several hundred left over from roll-my-own analog making.

I split the filter in half lengthwise, and cut to length. By the way, this was tried first on my NJOY NPRO (RN4081). After putting 3 drops in the empty cartridge, I slid the filter into it and poked a hole in it with a toothpick. Then I topped it off.

It was very absorbent and had Great wicking action. It produces large amounts of vapor and has no bad taste (yet). I even seems to hold as much, if not more liquid than the original wick.

I'll report back more later.

I too had been "rolling" my own analog cigs, except I was "injecting" tobacco into my cigs. So I have plenty of cig tubes left over which contain the filters. Just did one also. Let you know later.

Every smoker has lit the .... end of a cig before, wont the analog filters melt when hit by the atomizer? (if dry)

I never tried one "dry." After moistened, they seem to stay moistened. When the vapor is reduced, I fill them up. I never had one burn yet. Also, I don't think that the mesh around the atomizer ever gets "red hot" or hot like a lighter or match. The only issue that I would see as a problem is if the wick were to touch the heating element it may burn but that would be difficult if not intentional.

I have melted poly-fil when I was using that. I didn't like that and won't use it again. I think, with all things being equal, that the analog filters have a higher tolerance to heat than poly-fil.

I have tried brown coffee filters (a piece rolled up loosely) with no luck. Maybe I didn't try hard enough.

I have two large tea-bags (from Lipton Cold Brew for 1 qt.) They are opened and ready to use, I just haven't gotten to it yet. I've be VERY happy with how the analog filters are working.:thumb:

i have tried the teabags, paper towels, coffee filters, and polyfill... so far it is about even between the polyfill and the teabags though the polyfill seems to last a bit longer (2 or 3 fills).....and the teabags seem to flood my atomizer no matter what on my 510 can anyone think of what i may be doing wrong...

i also tried the cig filters and had no luck whatsoever but this was form a cut up analog and people here are talking about store bought filters i think...

I use atomized carts. I'm thinking about buying the older 2 piece design so i can just order a bottle, instead of 5 overpriced disposable atomizer carts.

30ml bottle $30.
5 pack carts $15.

30ml bottle=600 drops.
5 pack carts last 3 days.

I've been reading this thread, and i have not read anyone using RootCubes. I use them to grow & they work very, very well for holding moisture. I just dont know how it will work with an atomizer on it. Might want to give it a try.

Cubes are cheap to buy, easy to find.

If you do try cubes, let me know. I will wait to purchase another ecig.

Those of you who use disposable atomized carts, you can also inject alittle juice into carts to extend the life by a day.

thanks!

I was doing the Fluval thing. Peeling the layers, cutting them to the right size, washing and drying the cart, re-stuffing it with my nice newly cut Fluval.

Yesterday it hit me:
-I had 500 blank 901 carts that I had bought from ruyandirect.com
-they only cost me 17¢ a cart
-they were already nicely stuffed
-I get 2-3 days of use for just 17¢

So then why was I wasting my time trying to recycle and re-stuff these carts???

I gotta say, I just got a DSE 901 and tried many times to get the analog filters to work well. I think I tried every configuration including using a piece of plastic inside the cart. to hold up a wad at the opening of the cart so the wick would be as short as possible. Nothing worked well for more than about 10 to 15 puffs.

Then a while back I saved two teabags from Lipton Cold Brew. When opened up, they are about 8 inches wide. I cut a strip about 5/8 inch by 5 inches and folded it in 1/4 inch accordian fold. It was a little loose so after filling it, I stuffed in another balled-up wad about 1/4 inch wide and topped it off.

It works great so far. It leaked a little at first. Maybe I got too much liquid in it. It wicks better that the analog filter. The analog filter just seemed to act like a sponge holding the liquid and not letting it into the atomizer.

I'm trying tea bags right now. Great hit and flavor at the beginning, but when rolled to tight they leak like mad. And it's not lasting long enough for the amount of liquid it holds so far. I'm trying a looser rolled tea bag right now and though it's lasting longer than the tight roll, it's still fading too quickly. I'm trying paper towels and the same problem. So far I have the best long run with the original carts. I think I will try polyfil next.

Wool? really I thought it was poly-fill. Has anyone tried sea sponge or Tobacco leaf...not the shredded stuff in analogs but the rolled kind used in cigars?

I just think something organic might work well and be safer in the long run.

And with this post I break free from Noob jail

It might be poly fill. I read somewhere from either JC or Janty that they are filled with wool. Not sure where I saw it. If I had to bet, I'd say it is wool because when it does burn a little it doesn't taste like plastic. I would think polyester would taste pretty horrible if it burned.

Anyone know for sure what they are filled with?
