I want you to know something, to really keep it in mind. We DO have plenty of time. 2022 is a long way away yet, and much can change til then, even for the better. We advocate for a reason, for our good, and much good can happen between now and then. Serious kudos goes out to the vaping advocates and advocacy groups.

That said, do take the time you need to feel comfortable with anything you learn. Nothing is happening tomorrow, so learn what you like and at your own pace. We all have different paces we feel comfortable with, so you do you, for you.

Don't let things get to you. Just breathe and know that feeling comfortable with a thing is important to learning it best. The more you do, the more comfortable you will become, so do what you need to do to keep your comfort level alive and well, and do at your own pace - not other people's.
Just to be clear, I said what I said because I am not convinced that high concentrate nic will be available until 2022. I know opinions will vary on that, but that is my own opinion and what I base my guidance on.

who will deeming effect? i use a cigalike when i leave the house, don't take my provari with me already had one stolen. I use a vuse cigalike and when i went to grab a couple of refills i noticed that vuse now has a vape pen. tanks are sold as disposables. Do you think these closed containers per say, will survive the deemings? I have stocked up, but nowhere near the level of years upon years like many on here have. I am good for about 3yrs but after that? BT is smart and i assume they are playing their cards accordingly. They must think they will be exempt from the deeming by staying with closed containers. Just wondering what you guys are thinking because i can't read the deeming, way too over my head. Legal jargon just makes my head want to explode. I read doctor scribble all day long being in the medical field, but the deeming, just makes my head spin
Since last August American businesses aren't supposed to sell any new vaping product IN AMERICA. They can make or sell anything they want for export. The most harm from the current restrictions would be to US retailers who aren't supposed to offer any new products. I think the pre mix eliquid business will have a shake out if that isn't happening already. My DIY cost of ingredients is 1.1 cents per ml and I prefer it to any premix regardless of cost. I'm not predicting a lot of people going to DIY. I am predicting ferocious price competition.

I think a lot of vape speciality shops will close, not because of government but because there might not be enough former smokers to support so many shops and walk in retail is in having tough times anyway.

If you care about your fellow man, like those billion other people who still smoke, being politically active is a given.

Then there is each vaper's personal situation. That's the easy one. For less that it cost me to smoke for three months, $650, I put 10 mods and 10 rda's, what I use every day, in a drawer, and 500,000 mg of nicc on my freezer door shelf. That's eough to very likely last me 10 years. If nic stores indefinitely and if the mods hold up better than planned I'm good for 20 years, a silly long time. If I kept smoking a carton a week for the next 20 years it would cost me $60,000 except may be I wouldn't live that long.

Honestly, this is so important you should just buy a liter or two of 100mg nic and stick it straight in the freezer. Worry about it later. You can always learn to handle it or get comfortable with it at some future time. You may not be able to buy it when you get there.

If you are short of space, 200mg would be better. I know that sounds scary but these may be difficult times.

While it is usually recommend to store nic in glass bottles, if you buy it in plastic bottles and freeze that, then you don't have to worry about breaking it. It's pretty idiot proof. Not optimum but it should still last for years.

I am going to go for it, heck i can do this right. I am in the medical field i am use to wearing gloves if that need be done. I am just taking up too much space storing 35mg of nic.

Just to be clear, I said what I said because I am not convinced that high concentrate nic will be available until 2022. I know opinions will vary on that, but that is my own opinion and what I base my guidance on.

I understand why you said what you did. I also have nicotine on hand. But - allow me to say why I said what I did.

Before I got into DIY, my husband did not want me to have anything to do with DIY of my own e liquid. He was afraid of nicotine, worried for me, and "put his foot down" and would not allow me to even try.

At the time everyone was stocking up on nicotine. All well and good, but I was not allowed to so much as purchase any due to his fears of the product. It took some time to calm his fears and concerns, as well to learn enough to calm my own concerns.

Guess what, in the end, nicotine was still available for me to purchase once "we" (my husband and I) were both ready for me to jump into DIY with both feet. Not only that, but we needed that time, the more I learned the more I could calm his fears and the more my own worries were also calmed. In the end, I didn't do a thing until I was absolutely ready to.

That time we spend learning helps us to be able to actually jump in with both feet. It helps us see DIY as fun and positive rather than a scary thing (which its not). If your terrified of making your juice and just feel pushed into it, its never going to be a good thing for you, and that isn't the right attitude to get into it with.

DIY is fun, it is positive, its an awesome thing... but making people feel like that have to do something they aren't yet ready to do, is counter productive I think, at least, it would have been for myself.

Thanks Opinionated, i don't know why it scares me so bad but it really makes me uncomfortable and for the life of me i can't figure out why. I know how to wear gloves if that need to be done. I don't know i just know i have shaky hands and make a mess when i mix up my pg, vg and nic.

A buddy of mine buys his PG/VG by the gallon at his local Tractor Supply shop. Apparently they are used with cows for something or another. So unless they ban cows (and yes some people actually want to) these 2 ingredients should always be available in large quantities. As long as we allow artificial flavors to be added to candies, food, snacks, etc. the base flavorings will always be available. Batteries, wire, cotton are all also non-issues. Regulated mods, tanks/rda's and the actual nic base are the only real points of concern for me.

If you are concerned about getting it on your hands, you can buy a box of disposable food service plastic gloves for cheap to protect your hands should you spill spill on them. I already have some on hand I bought to use when cutting up extremely hot peppers like habeneros. You could also buy some latex lab gloves that fit better but may cost more.

EDIT: Oh and if you really feel you need more than gloves search amazon for "hazmat suit". They have everything from cheap disposables for about $10 to reusable versions starting at about $150.

OMG i had to giggle at your cow banning comment!!!

I agree and never thought about it that way. I can buy higher nic and just leave it sitting in the freezer..if i need it then it's there and i can figure it out when that time comes, but least it's there.

Personally I handle 100mg nic without gloves. I have even put a couple ml of 100mg nic on the palm of my hand and let it sit there for a couple of minutes. Just to proved it isn't arsenic :). Now, I think I am more nic tolerant than the average bear. Some people will get a minor rash or even sense it? What I'm trying to say is that this stuff is not plutonium. Just use basic handling care. Steal a dozen nitrile gloves from work :). Wear eye protection if you are very unsteady. Do your remixing of the concentrate right in the sink so if you have as pill it's contained and you just flush it down the drain. DO NOT rub your eyes if you get nic on your fingers, and a little eye protection would not hurt (although I don't myself). I'm trying to thread a needle here. It's not milk, but it's not arsenic either. It is more like handling concentrated pesticide that you might buy at Home Depot (and in fact nic is an organic pesticide and used to be sold for that purpose).

I've even vaped 50mg in a dripper, just because I could :). But as I said I'm probably more nic tolerant than many.

I personally think this is so important and timely that it is worth pulling your 36mg nic from the freezer to make space. For the reason I mentioned previously. I'm afraid that in a couple years we will look back at $50/liter 100 mg nic and wish we could turn back the clock and buy more. It's dirt cheap now. Big brother may not leave it that way for long. If you have room for 2 liters, I would buy 1 liter of 100mg nic, and 1 liter of 200mg nic. That gives you a chance down the road to handle 100mg nic and get comfortable with it. Then 200 won't seem so scary :). Just put the 200 right in the freezer for now. Best $150 or so you will ever spend.

ETA: Never, ever heat concentrated nic. Just don't do that and you will be fine.

I started with 24mg nicotine to mix with because I didn't want any high levels around. 250 ML of that was good for 2000 ML of 3 mg mix. It is a good starting point for someone afraid to mess with it. I now use 48mg for mixing and will probably stay with that. I doubt that 48mg is very dangerous at all as I vaped 45mg when I switched from smoking.

Personally I have no nic stored yet. I have been ordering small bottles of 100mg from various places to find which one I like best. Once I find "the one" I will be buying a large quantity and storing it in 30ml glass bottles (only putting in about 28ml to allow expansion room) so that I only have to "thaw out" 28 ml at a time. I do have a full size deep freeze though so space is not an issue.

see i think i have a high tolerance for nic. I have three kabuki's on standby at all times per nic strength...18mg, 28mg and 38mg...depending on how bad my day was at work is what i turn to. vaping anything less then 18mg is pointless for me, it does nothing for me. i have on occasion upped my nic up to 48mg..and that's for a really bad day. I will dump my 38mg tank and refill it with 48mg

Now I've been challenged to run 50mg through my Kabuki :toast:. I'll report back tomorrow! You won't have any trouble handling 100mg.

My standard mod is a Royal Hunter Mini dripper. I run dual coils, with a net 0.7R resistance (7/8 wraps of 27ga Kanthal A1, 3mm ID). My Kabuki, at 10 watts, gives that Dripper (at 20W) a good run for it's money, which is the optimum highest power I can run the Kabuki (the flavor starts to degrade after that point, more or less). So now I'm curious :w00t:

I, personally, would never store nic base in a plastic bottle, in a freezer...unless that bottle was made by a plastics company to meet specific standards required for use by the scientific and medical fields. Those bottles have to meet rigid specs (which are plainly published), including specs for maximum and minimum storage temps. The regular plastic containers that any/all the nic base I've ever bought comes in...weren't made to meet those standards. All of mine is in glass bottles with poly cone caps.

To me the nic strength needed varies by device used, build used, and wattage used. Using something like my old ARO Clearo-tanks with my own microcoils and cotton yarn at about 10-12 watts I needed a lot higher nic strength than in a larger RTA with a 3.5mm Clapton coil and Japanese cotton wick at 28-30 watts. The less nic you need per ml the longer you can stretch a bottle of 100mg/ml.

So we know you use a Provari and kabuki tanks, but what coils and what wattage are you using?

If I may venture out onto a limb and offer an uninformed and personal opinion on what may happen if vaping becomes the new tax Cash cow to replace cigarettes/tobacco.
This is just my opinion. I reserve the right to be way off base.

The only issue that concerns me about juice is taxation. I would see juice being taxed as heavily as cigarettes. I'm not convinced as the tobacco taxes are bolstered by health concerns. By 2022 I would hope we can finally start to get around the whole "vaping hasn't been studied long enough" argument. That can go against us if there turns out to be a serious long term effect on our health. God help vaping if there is even an extreme finding. Supporting a tax if vaping doesn't turn out to be harmful would prove difficult, but I wouldn't put anything past governments willingness to look past that for a money grab.

Big Tobacco has to survive and they will. They will either maneuver themselves by spinning traditional vaping vs closed systems they're working on, or force current manufacturers to contemplate the same type of closed systems. Most wouldn't survive. I'm basing these thoughts on tech wars that usually have 2-3 competitors floating to the top on proprietary ecosystems. Decelooment costs will be passed along and of course they may find a way to tax these Long shot thinking...but maybe.

I think mechanical mods become the target, taking batteries we use with them. Safety will become the banner if health can't be used against vaping. Just a thought.

Perhaps batteries may migrate to built in tech over replaceable cells. This is even now one of the major talking points when referring to vaping along with no long term studies.

A lot of this is obvious. As I said it's just a humble opinion and an attempt to add to the conversation. Take it as you will.

Batteries will be difficult to tax in the name of vaping safety considering the primary use of these batteries prior to vaping was flashlights and there is a whole community around collecting and using these flashlights (not sure why but to each their own). I am sure they would be up in arms if those kinds of taxes were to even be mentioned.

I was thinking more along the lines of forcing MODs to have packs or built in batteries.

I admit I hadn't thought about the flashlight hobby. You're right, they'd be up in arms. Pretty bright, I'm sure they'd find a way.
