I did it for my baby girl. She was born with pneumonia and had to spend 10 days in the NICU. She came home and about two weeks later she was having a crying fit and I had just come in from a smoke. So I changed my shirt but I still stunk like smoke.
I had to calm her down while mama got a bottle ready so I picked her up and sat in the recliner with her lying on my chest, she calmed down but I could tell a change in her breathing and I new it was the smell. So right then and there I knew it was time to quit
I have been been pretty much smoke free for about two months, except last weekend I had one to remind me that they taste like crap and I don't need them anymore

I started vaping about 2 years and 5 months ago...silly as it may sound, the reason...because at the time I read several articles regarding new warnings on cigarette packs. The articles seemed to imply that labels on cigarette packs would soon be of a very graphic nature. It feels great to know that it's been almost 2 1/2 years now since my last cigarette. :)

I had a pack a day habit for about 12 years. Well for a year I dipped copenhagen snuff; what a gross habit but when I saw a picture of someone with their lower jaw surgically removed it scared the crap out of me. I figured I was too good looking to be disfigured. I quit the dip but went straight back to the cigs.

About July of this year I noticed I didn't feel so hot. Was tired all the time, coughed a lot, towards the end of the night I started to sound like Darth Vader. Not exactly a turn-on.

But really what did it was the mustache. I grew it out, and stated to notice tar buildup on my upper lip. I remember I would wipe my mouth after eating and "woooooooooooooooofffffh, orange tar on the napkin". I stated thinking "If that is from the exhale, good god man, what do my lungs look like?".

Tried a disposable out of curiosity, the rest is history.

If you are smoking for many years, then you must think back to remember under what circumstances did you start to smoke or the reason behind it. You need to find out what made you feel nice when you lighted up a cigarette. In case of many smokers, this habit was forbidden and fun. Often individuals are encouraged into smoking by their peers. In teenage years, smoking seems to be highly adventurous for lots of people. It is easy to get access to cigarettes regardless of your age. You probably may have been encouraged by your friends.Lots of teenagers think that smoking is something that is quite adult. The dangerous and negative aspects of cigarette smoking were not considered at all. Cigarettes were available readily some years ago. Your parents might have openly smoked in front of you. There were wall posters in the street and advertisements on the television. Any kind of warning about tobacco was printed in the smallest form and due to your young age these warnings seemed meaningless. You may have never started to smoke if you would have realized the fact that smoking can lead to heart problems, conditions like emphysema and cancer. Would you have ever lit a cigarette if you understood that this habit can reduce your life span by around ten years? The answer to this can be still yes as in your young age you were not too much concerned about your old age or death.Would you ever encourage other people to begin with smoking? Probably not! When you are struggling with your own smoking addiction, you would hopefully suggest others especially young people to stay away from tobacco. It is aging and causes the skin of the face to sag. The life span of the smokers reduces dramatically. Their clothes, hair and breath contain the odor of stale smoke. The fingers also get stained because of tar. Every time you inhale the death risk increases. At one point of time, smoking cigarette was considered to be quite glamorous. People were allowed to smoke anywhere. At present, most people are aware of facts related to smoking and so it has been banned in various public places. For people who do not smoke, passive smoking is a big threat. It increases their risk of health problem without smoking and this can be deadly. Your addiction to tobacco can be harming to your family members and friends who do no smoke themselves.

I started vaping as I had the nasty cough and was always breathless.
Cigs are so expensive.
I've been seeing vendors selling the cig-a-like ones. Not that cheap.

I tried patches. Wouldn't stick. I gave up for 5 weeks using the Quickmist Spray.

But I really missed the habit of smoking. I enjoyed it. So started again.

I researched and decided vaping was for me.

I enjoy smoking, sadly constant bronchitis and poor physically fitness was kicking in from smoking. My grandmother also passed away from pancreatic cancer after surviving breast and colon cancer. Finally decided to give it up for a healthier alternative...so far so good and feeling the best I've felt in 5 years plus.

My friend force fed me the swiz for over a year, finally i tried,,, and BAM, within 2 weeks i quit smoking, and first day i went form 2-3 packs a day, to half pack first day, i knew then it could be done. he sent me a kit and liquid and all that shiz.. bam. word up.. one n half years later, half years later, no smoking... just like AA, it works if u work it LMAO!

I started vaping after my mom died in September 2011 of COPD and I ended up hospitalized for 3 days in November 2011 with what they thought was a heart attack, but turned out to be pleurisy.

I quit smoking December 26 2011 and went on a diet in March 2012 and lost 50 lbs.

There's the additional factors like everyone else. Got tired of the smell in my house, the smell on my clothes, the burn hole in my driver's seat of my car, the money being spent, and waking up one day to realize I wanted to live longer.

I never tried to quit smoking cause I enjoyed it, then my family was able to quit smoking using this method, and I started and I was able to quit smoking too. Such a great device, I heard horror stories of how difficult it was to quit. Now I can't even stand the smell of cigarettes, I every time I smell it I ask myself, did I use to smell that way? WOW no wonder non-smokers always complained when I was smoking. I bought myself an ego twist starter kit and was able to stop for the week so I went and invested on a provari. It's been a couple of months since my last cigarette and boy I never knew what sinus issues I had until i quit...

I smoked for 23 years, starting as a teenager. After I had my kids, I started smoking outside so I wasn't smoking around them. They would come and look at me thru the door and ask why i still smoked? One day with ters in her eyes my daughter came to me and hugged me and said she loved me and would never stop even if I couldn't stop smoking! Mortified I decided enough is enough, I have now been analog free for 11 months:) My family has never been happier!!

I think I may be slightly unique for this forum and vapers in general because I never really was a serious smoker. However, I did smoke occasionally and certainly drank a lot. I always found myself craving something to consume to give me a buzz or to take my mind off the constant fiddling/fidgeting, my mind wandering and obsessing over things just because that is the way I am. I came to a point in my life where I was looking for a fix (sometimes illegal) and a prime candidate for serious addiction or other psychological problems. I've tried the medical approach, but it seems all they want to do to "help" me is expensive pharmaceuticals or drawn out counseling. I just want to live my life and focus on hobbies without obsessing.

I figure vaping gives me something to fiddle around with and satisfy these generalized "cravings" without being harmful to my body or offensive to others. Since I started not too long ago, I don't find myself making the frequent trips to the liquor store or seeking out some other fix. I just want to make the clouds and taste the wonderful variety of flavors, and try out different variations of these cool little gadgets.
