I too loved smoking. Started when I was 13 and it has been 42 yrs of tar....I tried vaping about 7 yrs ago with the smok Stick.....horrible...2 tiny puffs and the thing was gone...went through a box of cartridges in about a week. Then about 4 yrs ago I got the little Joye. It was okay but still had cartridges. Went on YouTube to find out how to refill them yourself, but it wasn't that satisfying.

Then 2 yrs ago my oldest brother Ken got diagnosed with lung/lymph node/brain cancer - and he couldn't give up the cigs. I got him and myself a Tornado but it had cartridges. He couldn't get the hang of it. I smoked it off and on....I didn't know about the Ego Ts. My other brother, Mike, got diagnosed 6 months after him -throat/lung/brain. I got him a T and he LOVED it. Unfortunately, they both have passed away from cancer - It has been very hard....Mike spent his last 6 months raving to anyone that would listen about how wonderful personal vaporizers were and to quit smoking. I quit analogs altogether for him when he asked me to and went to 100% vaping. Mike and I enjoyed reading this forum and watching, probably a bunch of you folks, on YouTube for info. Thanks and God Bless my brothers....

First of all, I am a brazilian, pretty much familiar with the american culture since I spent 4 years in Colorado for my PhD, 18 years ago. I started vaping because I needed, desperately, to get rid of the analogic ones. I am beginning my 3rd week without them. Even smoking 2 packs a day for almost 30 years, I am not having the deprivation symptoms and feeling very well, actually. There is a lot I need to learn but I am doing my best - I even started doing my own DIY juices. So, that's it for now. My best regards to everyone. I will keep gaping...

Im just curious why you started vaping?

I for one, personally LOVED smoking. Sadly I have admit, I smoked for over 15 years. It was to be cool when i was a kid, it was a stress relief as I got older, and when I worked, it was a great excuse to get the hell away from my desk and co-workers who were driving me up the wall!

Then I had my kids. I actually WANTED to quit smoking, because I wanted to stick around and watch my kids grow up - and I didn't want them to start smoking someday themselves.
But STILL it was so hard to quit. I missed the deep breath of that drag.....the hand to mouth motion....that big sigh as I exhaled, and blew my smoke out.

But every single day, I would look at those beautiful faces. The ones I created. The ones I loved more that I ever thought I could love anything in the whole wide world.
Then the years of smoking, and age started catching up with me. I was coughing. I exercise like I wanted to. I would wake up wheezing. And then the prices of cigs kept going up and up and up.

I tried the other e-cigs that you paid an arm and a leg for at the mall - that didnt work. But then my husband (a 1 1/2 - 2 pack a day smoker) started vaping, and didnt touch a cig. I was impressed.

And again, my kids. My health. Thats why I started vaping. Best thing I did for ME in 2012. (And if you're a mom or even a parent...you know that if something benefits YOU - it benefits your kids/family also)

this is nearly my story exactly...except it was this forum that got me interested in vaping to quit after failing with gum, etc. But it was definitely for my kids. As much as I loved smoking, and as careful as I was to keep it away from them, I still knew I was doing them an injustice.

I live in Fl, and started Vaping this summer, and I forgot about those darn mosquito's that ate me alive when I had to go outside to smoke! LOL

They banned clove cigarettes, and the replacement "clove mini cigars" tasted bad, cost more, and gave me quite a cough.
Also the wife lets me vape inside, rather that outside with the heat and bugs.

I tried my first vape about two years ago. It was an eGo that I still have today for sentimental reasons. However it did not work. Vape was too weak. I still smoked. Then this June I got my first VV mod. It worked. But not fully. Then I lost it about a week later ha ha. In July my provari arrived. It worked wonders. But I was still missing something. So I was still smoking while trying to figure out my best setup. Well I'm still in the process. Hoping genesis attys will work after the whole boge debacle turned me away from cartos. which didn't help. I did go from a 1.5-2 PAD to less than a half but never fully quit.

Today as of approximately 2.5 hours ago was hopefully my last smoke!

I'm sorry for your lost. I fell bad. But this story gives me hope in my struggle to quit. How mike was so optimistic about vaping till there'd really touched me. I hope I can convert people as he did one day after my last cig

I smoked for 11 years at an average of a pack and half per day. I LOVED smoking. Never had a "smoker's cough" or anything like that. Until the last 1-2 years. I started to feel worse and worse, eventually how crappy smoking made me feel started to out weigh how much I enjoyed it.

Then I got a case of bronchitis, coughing, hacking disgusting stuff up, etc. Then I got better. But the coughing remained. For weeks and I waited for it to go away but it never did and that scared me. I had contemplated quitting for about a year and when this happened I decided that it was about time. I wish I would have did it sooner.

I enjoy vaping just as much if not more than smoking.
