it might sound shallow....but women.

Then I started hitting the dating sites and saw profile after profile that said "No Smokers." I'll be damned if that is what is going to stand in my way of finding someone good,

Nothing shallow about quitting in favor of finding L-O-V-E. It makes the world go round, or haven't ya heard? ;)

I started vaping because I truly want to quit smoking and nothing else has worked. I'm tired of that nasty taste in my mouth when I wake up...the one that goes all the way down your throat and toothpaste/mouthwash ain't gonna cut it. Tired of the burned holes in clothes, linens, furniture, the car seat...still have a scar where I dropped one on my leg while driving. Tired of 2 a.m. trips to grab another pack so I won't have to face the morning without a smoke. And embarrassing as it is, tired of scouring the ashtrays to see if there's a .... long enough for another puff so I don't have to get out at 2 a.m.

One day, while rolling a cigarette, it occurred to me that I'd been smoking for ten solid years. That seemed like a nice, round, intellectually satisfying number, so I took advantage of the thoughtful pause it gave me and let my habit lapse. Knowing that I had to at least temporarily cut out pipes and cigars as well for the sake of consistency, I opted for e-cigarettes to satisfy that lurking "new gear" urge. That choice was rewarded with two and a half years of learning and enjoyment, from naïve fiddling with pyramid tea bags and cartridges to my present sweet spot with the Precise+ 18500 and a trusty DID.

Regular packs were going for $5 a pop and I'm on a budget so it was just too much. So I started rolling my own smokes, with a kick ... $40 roller, but then I ended up just chain smoking like a .... because I could get a big bag of tobacoo for $18 and $3 for 200 selves. My lungs ended up taking a beating and would wake up sore. That's when I knew I had to change and started doing research and of course found this forum. That probably saved my life as I've been smoke free for about 1 1/2 months now.

started vaping because i wanted to quit. health reasons i guess , id start smoking young and the price in the uk is £8 for a pack so about $13 dollars. thats a steep climb , but my first experience with vaping was a nightmare , unreliability of the product ect ect. so on august the 18th ( in line with the start of the fooball season in the uk) i decided to go cold turkey. 3 months on i still havnt had a cig. but i missed smoking , not so much cigerettes but the vape. so i purchased a itaste 510 and a vivi nova tank. and although im still having issues , ( diy eliquids :( ) i havnt looked back. :D hopefully with these forums i can find the ability to make my own liquids consistantly and learn to enjoy vaping while on my computer in my warm house a lot more than having a cigerette outside alone in the snow ! haha

Quite honestly... my living situation changed and most of my income went away with it. Meanwhile, my mom had recently started vaping (oh am i so glad she did now!) and was really excited about it. So she offered to hook me up with a buncha juice and some hardware at the same time that I just happened to be running out of money to buy cigarettes with. I couldn't say no, although I had no plans to actually "quit" smoking. It was a necessity kind of thing.

A few hours after my vaping supplies showed up... I had my last cigarette, nearly puked... and gave the rest I had left away 2 days later.

For me, after smoking a pack a day for 26 years, it was the work environment that finally got to me. I was becoming more and more self conscious about the cigarette smell. I was embarrassed to have coworkers ride in my car when going to lunch, self conscious in the elevator, etc...

Then, earlier this year, I found out that our insurance was going to start charging $25.00 per paycheck for people who smoke. Outraged, I thought, where is the surcharge for overweight people? Where is the surcharge for people who like to climb mountains, go snow skiing, sky dive and all those other activities that could result in a higher liability for the precious insurance industry? So I decided that I was going to have to man-up and quit.

At that same time, a new co-worker turned up with an eGo clone, so I started talking to him about it. He had smoked for years just like me, and was staying off of the analogs by using the e-cig. Although I wasn't too impressed with the performance of his e-cig, (I didn't see much "smoke" in his exhale), I did continue to "monitor" his progress.

Then, I saw Katherine Heigl on Letterman. I didn't even know who she was (don't watch a lot of movies or TV) and for some reason, when I saw the more substantial smoke plume and Letterman's reaction to it, it clicked in my head and I decided immediately that this was my future. I placed my order for my first kit for not only myself, but my wife as well.

Here we are almost a year later and we have moved on to VV Mods, mixing my own juice, keeping up on the latest trends in the industry and getting to know organizations like CASAA.

I have no regrets other than not discovering e-cigs sooner.

i can imagine an awful lot of people , myself included, share that sentiment. the wife isnt completely convinced yet however due to the sheer clutter of all my stuff haha. but for christmas ive asked that all she gets me is an awesome toolbox so i have plenty of compartments to store things. keeps me out of the kitchen too!

Been a pipe smoker for over 40 years and I am getting ower auld to stand outside the pub on a winters night, also the house is crowded with bairns over the weekend and holidays and wor lass has banished me outside as well, as the bairns follow me around the house when I sneak into the conservatory.

And, I have to admit it, E smoking still gets right up the nose of the antis........................and they have to lump it LOL

Quite a few reasons to switch to steam over smoke:
1. Cost - about 1/3 the cost compared to name brand cigs
2. Stench - few things worse than damp clothes oozing with the smell of stale cigarettes
3. Breath - beer and cigarettes hardly make a good breath freshner
4. Danger - there are many but from personel experience loosing the cherry between your legs as you're driving is not a good sugestion
5. Disposal - its a shame the butts dont grow into a nice garden flower, shrubbery or tree when tossed from vehicles
6. Consideration for others - not poluting the space around me for others to endure
7. Mess - keeping up with dirty ashtrays and filth in the car (windows)
8. Flavors - i dont know about you but menthal and regular is a bit too limited for my taste
9. Cool factor - so many sweet designs and mods
10. Simplicity - making my own mods is easy given the simplicity of the tech

Thats my 2 cents
