It would kill vaping as a pastime. Right now consumers have lots of choices. Taking away those choices severely limits the market for quality vaping products. Except for the enthusiast collectors, the majority of current vapers would look for something else, possibly even go back to smoking cigarettes. The vaping population would diminish. The now constant influx of new vaping paraphernalia would slow. Dwindling demand would stifle new innovation. Less people would share our experiences and less people would be around as advocates for vaping. Government regulators would have less challenge and taxes, bans, public restrictions would flourish.

Thankfully, we don't have to deal with the end of times anytime soon, though. China is, by far, the leader in produced product for the world's vapers. And they aren't going away. The proliferation of the vaping community relies on it.

Odd, vaping grew before the onslaught of Chinese counterfeit attys and mods... There's no innovation when it comes to counterfeiting. Last I checked, there are plenty of non counterfeited products from China, from the likes of Smok, eLeaf, Kanger...

Can't say I agree with Some of the Stuff you've been saying in this Thread. But this is Right on the Money.

Counterfeiting stifles Innovation in a Market.

Odd, vaping grew when the Chinese manufactured 100% of the devices and eliquids, before the get rich quick con artists started copying their design....

Thank you! I mean... I know an American first came up with the idea -- but nobody wanted it, so it went nowhere. After some 40 yrs goes by, someone else comes up with an idea, and by now, the technology can actually support it -- and he was Chinese! And ALL the original e-cigarette technology was Chinese!

I suspect that some of the cloners over there feel that since they invented it, they can do whatever they like with whatever else comes along. I don't necessarily agree with that, but I understand it. And I'm grateful for products that REALLY WORK that I can ACTUALLY AFFORD. I never could get those Kanger tanks to work for more than 10 minutes at a time.

I don't like the clones that have the emblems and logos of the product that's been cloned; to me, that IS counterfeiting. But my Tobecos have none of that; all they have is a great design, which works well. I shouldn't have to make +$100k a year to be able to afford products that really work -- my husband's GROSS pay is less than $30k a year -- and that's the gross; we live on far less, of course.

I was looking at a Tobeco version of the magma yesterday; they call it the 'amgaM' - but it appears in all respects to be like the Magma, and I know Tobeco makes good products, from my Kayfuns, so that's the one I'll probably get. No idea how much the "original" Magma costs, but it's probably a lot more than I can afford -- the amgaM is just $18.99. I'll still have to budget carefully to get that, amongst all the other vape stuff I constantly need, but it's IN THE BALLPARK that I play in.

Would I like to have more money? You betcha... but I live in reality, and I know that our income isn't likely to change much; inflation has risen by many percentage points in the last 3 yrs... my husband's wages haven't risen AT ALL.

And anyone who says that because I'm poor, I don't deserve good products... kiss my shiney hiney.

Really? Wow. Where are these original Chinese mods and attys? You'd think these companies would have flourished. Surely SvoeMesto and ProVape were no threat, given the costs of German and American manufacturing... Do you know the difference between a concept and design? A concept is an electronic cigarette- it's function and purpose. Developing a product with the same concept as another is not theft. Literally copying another's product, even the name, is quite a bit different than making a product which serves the same purpose and function as another.

I take it that means you will be immediately destroying any atty or tank you own that uses a Chinese DESIGNED 510, 808, 801, 410 or 4801 connection.

Quite familiar with coax connectors, 510 (and the others noted) were DESIGNED specifically for e-cigs. Or are the "authentic" overpriced mods simply re-purposed flashlights?

I'm not quite sure how you don't understand how reverse engineering a product and making an almost exact copy of the product and selling it based on the same name as the original is different than something which by its purpose- like threading, is not even remotely patentable. It is like saying anyone who uses cross head screws is stealing the design of the first cross head screw. Wow...

Help me out Steve.

I Mashed my Wrist when the Counterfeit Werner ladder I was using to take down Christmas lights Broke.

I'm busy throwing out my Phillips head screws- the packages don't say Phillips, so they must be counterfeit. Next are dress socks. Mine are made by/for Allen Edmonds, but Allen Edmonds didn't invent the sock, so they must be counterfeit...

Don't forget your re-purposed flashlights...
