Why do so many people want to build to 0.1ohm?

Except they wouldn't know how to coil, or have wick and wire, or some way to meter it. If you did hand them all that, chances are they'd buy a pack of cigs instead.

You could sell them 5 packs of rba heads precoiled at 2ohm 32 gauge and offer to buy back used heads at half price.

Instead of people going to the vape shop to get their rig recoiled, they could basically use a subtank like a regular clearo and by replacement coils which are actually rebuildable, and trade in the used coils at the vape shop; no stopping, no waiting.
Or they have the option to recoil the heads themselves; they ought to be a whole lot easier to recoil than a protank coil.

I expect to see more tanks come out like this; in fact, before the subtank came out, I got a fasttech tank - a 'Heavy Taste' with the same options; regular replacement head plus an rba head.

I am the first guy. I KNOW and always have known that the build I was using exceeded my VTC4 but alas I dont wish to start an argument...I am not the ONLY person who vapes at 0.1 ohm though, not even close.

I am not a newb and I understand battery safety and ohms lawn and all that good stuff. I also respect your intelligence and opinion because I can tell you know a good amount of stuff related to this HOWEVER I see a lot of people doing .1 ohm coils with ONE "35amp" E Fest and as far as I know thats really a 20amp cell and I personally have not seen a tragic accident. If you want to vape at a higher resistance please go ahead but I would appreciate if you didnt paint me in a bad light or act as if I am stupid. I am just here to learn more and enjoy the forum you do as you wish. Either way I got no problem with ya my friend.

I don't think I ever called you a newbie because that I wouldn't know. You did say it was your first mech. I never said I was smarter than you either because again I wouldn't know. You questioned my qualifications, so I told you, that's all. Your wife may very well be a better builder than I am. Again, I wouldn't know. I just wanted you to understand there are no current batteries rated to 42A, and that it probably wasn't a good idea to build that low. I also did suggest you could more safely build to 0.2ohm even though I don't. So I wasn't saying you had to vape like me; just trying to help you be safer.

I haven't seen a battery accident in person yet either, and I hope I never do. I've just seen the accounts after like at Vape Blast, and that guy on youtube who vented one in his baby's bedroom showing off his very low ohm build.

Well, I guess I would rather some people have the B&M do their build if they're going to vape very low builds and refuse to learn about it. Better they do that than guess I suppose. I know people who have been building for months, and refuse to learn Ohm's Law. They have me instead. So I talk them through the build over the phone. Of course I tell them they need to let me teach it to them because what happens if I die or something? But, I guess some people really are so afraid of math they don't even want to divide two numbers :( I do have a really easy method of teaching Ohm's Law, too. Every student I ever had learned it so I know they would as well. Maybe someday...

These days if your not supporting everything your somehow stuck in your ways or your trying to oppress others rights to do as they please so give it up no point worrying about it anymore it is damaging to vaping most vapers know that but those who go to extreme will tell you that's rubbish. Stock up on your supplies guys so when the idiot brigade do get the legislative hammer dropped we can carry on for a few years before going back to the stinkies and remember not a single thing some in the vaping community do that goes wrong affects vaping at all it's "all the antz".

I now keep my mouth shut on my true views because I'm tired of being called whatever by the devotee's of whatever most of them being the very definition of selfish in the process so put whatever device to the lips vape well and let them get on with it.

After a year of vaping I finally did my first dual parallel build with 24g kanthal down to a 0.1.
Yes the paperwork says I know ohm law among other basic electronic principles(I hold degrees in electronics one being am engineering degree and I am an IEEE member).
Ive vapid on regulated mods only up until recently, I am not a cloud chaser by any means; but I do enjoy playing human fog machine from time to time. Damn it if that was not a great vape, and that build will get used a lot more often..
Quite frankly I think we as vapors have bigger issue than bashing other vapors for how they vape, what they use, how they build, or any of the above.
I have everything from an mvp2.0 to Provari, to dna30s and dna40s, along with a healthy assortment of mechanical mods,
I see what everyone enjoys about their preferred style of vaping.......and that's what it is their proffered style,
our job as veterans is to educate and advocate, not scold and diminish. Just because we may not understand what they enjoy, that's their business if someone wants to vape with an ego and that's all... hey enjoy it, you're not smoking a camel, congrats! If someone wants to vape super low, hey enjoy you're not inhaling a tailpipe, are you being safe? Great! Congrats!
But before questioning, try it, you may be surprised, I didn't think I would enjoy it, but hot damn!!!

None of these regulations or legislation have anything to do with clouds or public safety. It is 100% about control of the marketplace.

My son bought an IPV3 and the guy at the vape shop build him a .1ohm coil and he was vaping it at 50watts. I asked him if he understood Ohm's Law and he did not. I explained to him that he was taking his batteries to their limits and made him swear to me to at least get up to .5ohm. That is way too low for me but it shouldn't cause any issues. The problem with all the equipment that we have now is not the experienced vapers, it is the people who have no clue what they are doing. I don't think that experienced vapers should be using .1 but at least they know what they are getting into. Noops read all this stuff on the internet and want to do it as well. We are working our way to serious regulation.

Probably. Taxes mainly!

Yeah, with a box mod, you can build 0.5 ohm, crank it up and get a heckuva vape. If 0.2 ohm isn't good enough on a mech, I think those people would really enjoy a high power box once they realize they don't have to build low anymore.

I think some totally misunderstood my entire point. I'm not trying to tell anyone how to vape. I'm not a cloud basher. But, from what I've seen of venting batteries, holy crap! Pretty violent and dangerous event. And one that can put others in danger other than yourself. I'm just asking people not to exceed their battery's amp rating. I don't want them, their family or others to get hurt. Honestly, if 0.2 ohm isn't enough, you will love a 100 or 150W box mod. Really. I promise :)

why .1??? because they cant afford to buy a motorcycle that can jump 50 feet into the air... ;)

...Burn Center...Trauma Center...a catheter's gonna suck either way. lol. j/k

In all seriousness, cloud chasing is one thing, and I understand why people do it. Stupid things (take your pick), I understand why people do them...sometimes, not always though, but sometimes. Even with the education, there are still risks to "super sub ohming," and accidents do happen (just ask any paramedic, nurse, or doctor - we've all seen our share of them - I still keep my medic cert current even though I am no longer in practice). Having sat through both my physics classes and the one electromechanical engineering class, I still don't feel I understand everything needed to sub ohm, which is why I stick to builds around 1.5 ohms on a regulated device and be quite content...give me my nic, my coffee, my knitting, my books, and the occasional beer or scotch and I'm a happy camper. Would I like to try a mech mod someday and try a sub ohm build? Sure, but I need to learn more first - I don't want to let some of my former coworkers see me after a bout of stupidity (although there was that one incident with the bread knife and the loaf of frozen bread...). For now, the only "sub-ohming" I'll do is with keeping my fencing equipment in shape (resistance in body cords must be below 1 ohm).
For me, education is the key, but as more experienced vapers, it's our job to either explain the theory behind sub-ohming, or (as in my case) point them to someone who could explain it better. Super sub ohming has its place...it's just not for all of us.

I see some people think that vaping a low ohm build on a VW mod is dangerous to the battery because of the high amp draw. This is exactly right with mechanical mods because atty resistance and battery voltage controls battery amp draw and wattage. VV mod power output and battery draw is also influenced by atty resistance.

VW mods though are not. You set these to a number of watts and the battery amp drain and the mod's power output are the same for a 0.1 ohm atty or a 5.0 ohm atty. The mod's volt and amp output changes, but that does not affect the battery. There is one more significant difference for VW and VV compared to mechanical mods. Battery amp draw for the regulated mods is highest when the battery is at low voltage (almost drained) rather than at high voltage (fully charged).

If anyone would like to check this out for themselves, it's pretty easy using the Steam Engine battery drain calculator. Make sure the 'Device type' is 'regulated (APV)', 'Mode' is 'power regulation (VW)', chose a 'Power (wattage) setting' of say 50 watts and set 'Battery voltage' to 4.2V. Leave the right column alone for now.

Under 'Battery drain – what taxes your battery', you'll see the battery amp draw is 13.23A. Now change the 'Atomizer resistance' to 0.1 ohms, hit enter and check the amp draw. Now try it with 5 ohms. No change.

Now change the battery voltage to say 3.4V and you'll see that battery drain has increased to 16.34A.

So with a VW mod, as long as the battery can handle the maximum wattage the mod can do at minimum battery voltage, the battery is safe.

You can take pretty much any hobby and there are going to be lunatics who just don't seem to care if they get blown up. I don't think shops should knowingly sell the stuff to people who are also asking for advice on what kind of build to use, but what are they supposed to do? Grill everyone who comes in the door? That's stupid. I don't even really care, if you're dumb enough to try getting to 0.1ohms without researching how to do it safely and blow your hand off, tough ...., you lose. What does concern me is people doing that and making the rest of us who don't look bad. Especially now with all the ludicrous laws trying to be passed. I think I read somewhere that Ohio (don't quote me, I could be wrong) wants to tack on 30 bucks worth of tax onto a 30ml bottle of juice? Yeah, we really don't need to give them any more reasons to try and interfere. And I can just see the backlash when some under age punk blows his face off trying to vape like a pro with no knowledge. Won't somebody please think of the children??????????
As a general rule... for every person on here who can vape at .1ohms safely and effectively, there's probably 100 who are thinking of trying and don't know how and probably won't bother to try and learn.

That's all very interesting, but do you think maybe lots of people all over the world reading a post like that will try a
dual parallel build with 24g kanthal down to 0.1
and stick that on their copper mech mod (in 18350 mode of course because that's so small and neat) and vape away with confidence after all they read it right here on ECF encouraging them to "try it".

I'll ask; not because I really want to know, but because I think you ought to have mentioned it:

Question:
What do you vape that "dual parallel build with 24g kanthal down to a 0.1" on?

1: it's not going to be on an 18350.
2: I'd like to think it's on a dual batt mech, but if that was it, it's astonishing you'd leave that detail out
3: I'd guess it's on a steel/aluminium mod which has an inherent 0.1 ohm internal resistance anyway.
4: I'd bet you don't hold the button down for 5+ seconds; probably less than 2 seconds.

Lmao... as I clearly stated and you clearly deemed to NOT focus on, I am well aware of proper safety, and encourage anyone who vapes to learn to vape the style they prefer safely.
However, thank you for making my point for me

For the record, in case someone on Jupiter is reading.... no I was not using an 18350 the insinuation alone is troubling. The suggestion angers me, the insult to my intelligence IS NOT NECESSARY.
this entire discussion and people telling others that if they use 'x' they will be a firebomb is quite ridiculous, how about 'if you are going to do 'y' use 'x'.
let people be.
Yes a dual batter 18650 with proper batteries is the 'safest' option, do your research on batteries. , since we are all over the world, I dont know what they sell In the UAE, so research them.

And please for the love of all that is holy......GROW UP AND TRY....JUST TRY AND ACT YOUR AGE(I assume you are at least 18yp since that is the minimum age for membership) and not like a TROLL creeping the interwebs looking for something you can pick apart because YOU don't agree and feel some subconscious need to compensate and feel better about yourself through the belittlement of someone doing something you don't agree with.
