Why is ECF full of so many people against subohming?

I don't mean to compare super sub-ohming to this, but the truth is that most of us were smokers and there was a time when random people off the streets would give us their :2c: about our "safety." It didn't work then and it won't work now -- people that are already doing what they are doing will continue until a) something happens to make them stop or b) what their doing runs it's course and they leave it alone. No amount of chastising will stop someone from doing what they've *seemingly* been successfully doing. Hell, even with failures (and this may be freakishly scary when it fails), you can't shame someone into not doing what they want. It's unfortunate for the person that gets hit with so many stones, but a lot of the berating *may* be intended to have a peripheral effect on those that are thinking of going down that road that ought not to.

Law allowed us to kill ourselves' with cigs...that was a different criticism. vaping doesn't need batteries exploding in the evening news to get more against us.

Reminding us of our safety back in the day meant a long, slow, painful death via cancer and such.

Reminding us of our safety today means not venting a battery or possibly (and this is extreme, but not impossible, and most probably likely) turn your device into a pipe bomb.

I think the dangers aren't the same.
exactly.....

I get what you're saying rocketpunk.

I was just venting a bit, and personally I feel like Americans especially are try to baby everything.

I can't help someone blowing them self up. I take of myself and my family/friends if everyone did that maybe we'd be better off.

The cops wanna write me a ticket because my kids aren't wearing full body armor while playing. How about they catch killers and let me worry about my kids falling off their bikes.

That is kind of the feeling I get with the sub ohming subject.

Clearly some fool too lazy to learn how to do it safely, or trying to show off is going to have something happen.

To me sub ohming being looked down on by people who vape is because of a few idiots and/or misinformation and misuse is like people looking down on vaping because they heard something on the news.

It's like we're already fighting a war on vaping. Within that war vapors wanna fight a war on sub ohming and how it's dangerous or just for "cloud chasing cool kids"

"Can't help but caring" could be replaced with "doing my best to educate others in safety".

 Where the heck do you live, man?

I can blow happy clouds at 1.3 ohms. I'm not jealous.
Sub-ohm didn't do a thing for me, so meh. But if someone else enjoys it and wants to have at it, feel free. If you happen to take off a digit or maybe an eyeball for not knowing what the limits of your equipment are, Darwin thanks you.
As has been stated already- it's not about being down on sub-ohm setups, but the general lack of knowledge in which many approach it.

TN. They're actually not that bad here most of the time. In FL and ME that's a whole different story.

Again, I agree with trying to educate people on the subject. When I've been asked I tell them what I know and to also do their own research and buy quality products.

On the flip side though those who will, will. The person who wants to out cloud everyone without knowing the dangers, in my experience is the person who learns by fire. A brick wall is a brick wall, I haven't met one that talks back yet, or for that matter even listens.

Warnings about danger are all fine, I'm not arguing against that especially for noobs. What does get me is the frowning down upon. I think we agree just from different angles.

We're in the evening news already, but I get your point. I still feel that the issue is not so much the line of attack, but just that no matter the situation (legal/illegal/safe/unsafe) people will do what they will do and education beats oft-repeated phrases like "you'll shoot your eye out" (not saying that's you saying such things). One thing that we all have to remember though is that whether you're putting a low-ohm build up to your face, we are ALL working with rechargeable batteries and accidents have happened many times -- it may not be a face blowing off, but a house catching on fire can endanger more than one face. I've seen incidents of more battery failure from people that were just being careless, not because they were sub-ohming (though I am POSITIVE those incidences are out there).

Some people would never sub-ohm but leave batteries in their purses, left indefinitely on chargers, pockets with keys, some use clone batteries, Radioshack chargers/batteries and the list goes on -- and those clone batteries are going up to a face even if just rocking a carto. But the one thing I can say about many of the people that vape low is that they are often times well versed in their equipment -- after all, their equipment matters so much to that way of vaping. Actually, I was MUCH more ignorant about all safety regarding hardware when I thought (like many) that "I have a Provari, I am always protected from harm!" Now that Trustfire that came with it, well, that ain't got an error code.

Good on you.

But not all are. Your post contributes precisely...?

EDIT: Oh, wait, your username explains it all.

So what I've gathered from this gem of a thread is e cig users don't want more bad publicity, so they shoot down a thread where I post a good build. My post contributes because I was questioned as to how I would know the resistance of my build, and was providing an answer. Keep up buddy. And now you're starting in with ad hom personal attacks.

And the bad publicity angle is null, as I know my builds like the back of my hand. I won't be showing up in the news with my jaw blown off.

Just another case of ECF scaring off an experienced user with things to contribute because they are afraid of sub ohm builds.

I know the resistance of my build from experience building. Simple as that.

You should start a YouTube channel and share your experience with the world rather than griping about your thread that got moved.
Don't be so defensive. I think rocket was just pointing out that statements like "I know the resistance from experience" can be exactly what leads folks to believe they don't need to test their equipment and vape safely. Someone might take your word for the gospel and wrap a duplicate build to yours but fail to check for shorts or know their battery limits. Potentially bad news.
If you truly want to be an ambassador for responsible sub-ohmers the world over, talk safety & consider the content of your comments. Rather than relying on your experience, encourage others to research and practice safety, because it really isn't as "simple as that".

Finally a decent post worth responding to. And many good points made. You're making a lot of sense.

But even if I didn't know what I was doing, I'm not afraid of a 4volt, lol
