50

Why?

Is that a lot?

Dunno, depends on how you're using it. I have a coworker that does 24, but he only inhales 3-4 puffs from something looking like an Ego. His goal is to minimize the quantity of stuff he inhales, and I believe he is addressing it correctly - he gets his nic without much vapor around it.

I'm doing the opposite - 0 nic but lots of puffs.

I guess it's completely personal, whatever rocks one's boat.

I'm happy with my approach and let others be happy with theirs too.

I do it @ 0.2 ohm.

But i don't suggest others do as I do.

It took a lot of experimentation and strife to finally come to this level for me. I didn't want to over do it and be sorry.

I'm content now. It's always heart warming to see another successful vaper. Doesn't matter to me what works for you unless I'm tasked to figure it out with your input. (Say if I were guiding your journey to quit cigs.)

I've always had an intense tolerance to nic. I chewed nicorette and smoked 4 PAD while keeping 2 fresh level one nicoderm patches on my arm some years back. Never got nic sick... just fiended more from the stress of a seriously unsuccessful quit attempt.

Good to hear 0 nic is working out for you.

You the man!

I think I actually was having too much nic as a smoker, I was doing 25 cigs / day and during the past years I felt them too strong / heavy, also wife was complaining "did you change brand or something, those stink; please buy those that you used to use"; funny that I didn't change brands, although after she brought it to my attention I tried several in order to find something lighter / less stinky. Don't know what exactly they did to them, as imported cigarettes (cuba / china / european dutyfree) didn't have this problem. Since it was impractical to import my own cigarettes I decided to try vaping. Started at 18mg and went down from there in just 3 months. The most difficult was the step from 4mg to 0, as the nicotine changes the taste / flavour even in small quantities.

I'm seeing that now. My dad's goal was/is to quit altogether now that he's made the switch. Been about a year starting at 18. He's down to 4 now but the wife and I had to conspire to meet his goal below 6. He has the mental nic fit block. Got to 6 and got scared to go lower. Like when you're running out of cigs and knowing it makes you smoke twice as much.

We make his juice here, so his next batch will be 3mg... and we'll tell him a few weeks later to save him the mental block and chain vaping.

I suggest (from my experience) that on the last mile to 0mg you reduce a few mg at a time, and make the switch first thing in the morning (i.e. let him vape 6mg until he goes to bed then switch his liquid to 5mg overnight so he makes the switch at his first morning vape). With cleaner lungs/throat after the night sleep, the difference is very hard to tell.

Also at 0mg the flavour may feel stale and dark (nic makes it feel "fresh and sparkling"). For me it worked to add a few drops of menthol liquid to a 30ml bottle. The trick is to add as much as you can but stop before you could tell that the result has menthol in it. You need just a "freshness" note not the distinctive menthol taste.

In a sense, that is what I did to myself. I ordered a couple of the nic that I normally vape and a couple of the same flavor in a lower nic. I paid no attention to which one I was filling from. By the time that order was done, I had noticed that I didn't care for the higher nic liquids. So went to all of the lower nic on the next order. A few months later, did the same thing again.

I'm now going from 6 - 5mg with that method.

I really do believe at this point, it is a mental thing when it comes to the "addiction" to nic. Physically, the addiction is not that strong.

Guess it depends on where you are on the curve, I was not able to jump from 18 to 12 directly, I had to go to 15 first (mixed 50-50% 18mg and 12mg liquid). And I still struggled (I had to "cheat" with 18 a few times). Now this was a decrease of just (18-15)/18 = 16%. Then I went to 12mg and it was somewhat easier (no need to "cheat").

12 to 8 was easy and 8 to 4 was unexpectedly easy (although this was cutting the nic in half!). From there I had to do the menthol trick as the taste began to be altered by lack of nic.

So overall I'd say it's the beginning (starting reduction) and ending steps (going 0) that were the most difficult for me.

i have a system. it's working. i'm not fudging with it. he can be a grumpy SOB at times. appreciate the input, though. it may help me help someone else in the future. every trick in the bag makes us that much more complete...

yeah, i noticed the flavor thing. almost like it becomes fake and wax candy like (nauseating) for lack of better description. i will have to keep in mind about the menthol. is there any you'd suggest that may be better, or does it seem to matter? and is there a suggested level or does it change with the flavor and flavor % and you have to play by ear?

yeah, i think once you truly get over the switch to not having all the chemicals, it's pretty much all mental. though, i'm pretty much all mental myself, so i may never lower my nic, personally. but like going to the movies, grocery shopping, sitting in a shippers warehouse while they unload my trailer, etc. ... things that may take several hours and keep me from "smoking" ... as a smoker, i had given up on these ideas. i would have cut someone if need be to get outside in the middle of grocery shopping. and forget going to the theater...

You'll have to do by ear... What I did was to get a 0 nic bottle of Mount Baker Vapor's "Blue Ice". I put a few drops of it in a 30ml bottle of 0 nic of my favourite liquids and it's enough to "liven up" the thing. It works particularly well with "tobacco flavours" - my ADV now is FlavourCrafters "US Mix" with a few drops of "Blue Ice" as mentioned. Won't work that well with sweet desserts such as Caramel though..... quite a loss for me as I really liked it, but caramel works well only with nic.

shame

one of his ADVs is a caramel mix and he's already mentioned "strange taste" and asked "what did you do different this time", etc.

i keep telling him he has to keep trying new things, but he's stubborn... bull headed even...

Caramel was my first e-liquid ever and it got me of smokes. But without nic it doesn't work well, and menthol makes it worse.

Maybe now near 0 Nic a non-sweet liquid might help.
