We still have dish, but we also have an HD antenna and we get more local news, Gainesville as opposed to shock and awe Orlando. Weather is more accurate for us. All the major networks, and a few fun ones like METV. Love the old shows!
METV is great we don't have it on dish. You can get it with an HD antenna though. Not sure if it would be good we are about 15+ miles from the antennas and it's not flat ground. Does it work that far and still get a good picture on not flat ground?

Alright ... curiosity got to me. I installed Kodi and Exodus on my Mac tonight. Pretty impressive, although since Janet and I watch little in the way of TV shows/movies, it probably won't get used much, unless I can find my favorite shows as a kid - Winkie Dink.

@MamaTried ... I wonder if you were hunting me down back in the day. I was at the top of an international pyramid for s/w distribution. We made products available to our clients for evaluation purposes only. If they liked it, they were supposed to buy it. (uh huh). Just about any game, any platform was available. My 'role' actually got me a couple promotions and saved my .... from layoffs, my boss's kids were serious gamers. (he, he). And I was working for a top tier computer company.

But I've seen the errors of my ways. I follow Bill and Hilary's model now-a-days. Pay to play.

Of course they are both going to be pretty busy for a few months to do anything presidential. Trump has 75 lawsuits pending and she has around 30+. Both will be so busy giving depositions they won't have time for the office. And they both are facing charges or audits, its a hell of a mess.
With all due respect i'm not aware of any lawsuits against Clinton except for the two Benghazi families suing her for the death of their sons. And even that appears not to have any merrit and is likely to be thrown out. http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2016...inst-clinton-over-benghazi-doesnt-hold-up.htm

Of course you are right she just faces litigation over her refusal to turn over emails while she was SOS which could be demanding also. The Trump camp is saying only 30 of his lawsuits are going to make it to a higher court. Gee only 30 plus his audits? She is going to have to do some fast talking also but nothing new for the Clintons.

So-- I have joined a matchmaking site. Been sending smiles and building my profile. Got about three Cali nibbles. Six months costs $60, but I want to save up money to get to California. I guess I will go ahead and dive.
wow.....well you said it's a site only for particular folks, and I am sure you'll be careful. Best of luck! I haven't been that brave. ;)

My way of handling politics on the porches. When it starts getting so thick in here that I am getting genuinely ...... off I leave the forum for a few months until I can look at the folks that ticked me off without wanting to scream.
I don't like it when you leave though. I just ignore stuff and don't let things get to me for the most part. Easier said than done sometimes though. Pm me if someone is pissin you off, and I'll tell everyone we need to stop talkin bout whatever it is lol

I just hope that the rest of the govt will stop them from doing anything really stupid.
not if they have a pen and a cell phone!

BTW, was surprised to find out I can get over 40 OTA local channels via an HD antenna!
oh kewl! Is that the kind ya put on yur roof, or like rabbit ear thingies?

THatz prolly why they're both runnin. To stay outta jail.
roflmao!!

Heres something pretty cute if I did it right.

omgggggg that's adorable!!! If that was me, the elephant would have to pull me up off the ground when we were done though!

The U.S. is secure?
lmao.......newp. But it could definitely be less secure.

I'm afraid someone's going to win
roflmao!!! no kiddin!

Isn't there an easier way to do that then to type out all the commands.
Jup. Just type your comment. Highlight it...... click on the thing in the top part of the reply box that is to the left of the camera, and click spoiler. it'll let you type what you see on the tag, and yur done.

Gee that's a great idea you had there Mike. Forgot all about it. I notice Bells is staying away probably because of this. Hopefully he'll be back on the 9th.
I pm'd him the other day, but no response as of yet.

Not even close but Netflix is better. There are some things on Amazon not on Netflix but not too many and Netflix usually has them first.

Well, I loaded Exodus into Kodi and watched 'London Has Fallen'. I really could lose some time catching up on movies I've missed! So far I've only spent what a bag of MV popcorn costs... so far...

from what I've read, it works really well on Android and Mac...
I used the last of my credit card points at 11:59 this morning, and by 9PM, had a new Android 6.0 Lollipop TV Box
Prime membership is great for those same-day deliveries... watched the last 6 episodes of season 6 for the Big Bang Theory, searched around a bit, and just finished watching the first episode of Gummi Bears.
I'm sure you can find Winkie Dink

Dennis, with all due respect (and you know I'm aware of your background) .. If you drill down, you'll find :: Many of KODI’s unofficial add-ons use peer-to-peer streaming that does not hide your IP as you are both downloading the file you are streaming and sharing it with other users who want to watch the same show as you watch the show. Often users of these 3rd party unofficial add-ons are unaware they re-sharing the file in a similar way to how Bittorrent works. So, yes, in many cases, users are peer-to-peer protocols .. and will have a "seed" residing within their machine ..

Folks have been getting Copyright Infringement letters over the last year, primarily from Comcast ..

Until now there haven’t been any reports of KODI users being hit with lawsuits or copyright claims that are so popular with Bittorrent users. Yet it is possible to track users of peer-to-peer streaming services similarly to how Bittorrent users are tracked .. this is no different than the infancy of the fight initiated over MP3 sharing and subsequent lawsuits and fines against the consumers ..

I'm not slamming KODI, it's a great interface .. However, unofficial add-ons are developed by people who have no association with the KODI core team, but they write add-ons that are intended to work on KODI ..

This is why I simply recommended anyone that uses the interface outside the norm of what it was made for originally (an interface for legal streaming and storage of owned content), seriously consider a VPN .. and I'll add :: The use of a dedicated PC for this purpose is a good idea, since when connecting peer-to-peer the vulnerability of the PC is also much more easily compromised ..

Lastly, Cisco has the tech ::

Cisco Develops Technology to Fight Pirate TV Streaming

(OK, OK, I know .. but I'm doing my best to not weigh in on the Political Rhetoric that has been flying around here .. funny, since when I, in the past, dipped my toes into that water, they were stomped on .. I guess some just get a Free Pass .. although, if you like, I am more than happy to weigh in .. :))

yes, i've declined installing/using all of the Kodi add-ons that require P2P. but i can see how a non-tech kodi user could get sucked in, even tho all the add-ons i've seen actually warn you about the P2P component.

i was pretty much the Bittorent specialist at my last job.

i disagree with you the "many" of kodi's channels use P2P. some do, but many/most simply point to web sites where you can stream the same stuff in any browser. for the most part, no P2P. it's pretty rare in kodi, AFAIK.

the Cisco announcement, IMHO, means next to nothing. Content providers have been embedding watermarks for years. Like i said originally, only ISPs will be able to catch consuming streamers. Perhaps Cisco's tech will aid ISPs in that, but i'm not really seeing anything revolutionary. i imagine Comcast already has their own similar tech.

methinks it will still come down to Congress passing a law to induce the content providers to fund shutting down streaming consumers, whether or not they buy Cisco's tech or some other watermarking tech that's been around for years. then folks like Comcast will be able to shut down streaming whether thru kodi or just in a browser.

lastly, if Comcast has actually issued DMCA warnings to Kodi users, it's because they have installed one of the rare add-ons that use P2P. currently, consuming content without P2P is legal.

all that said, i think Congress will pass a law within the next year and ISPs like Comcast will have their hands out to the movie/TV/music studios and will reap the benefits. things like kodi will have a limited lifespan unless you pay for a foreign VPN, at which point actually paying for perfectly non-grey options like "Sling TV" may make some sense.

i think kodi in the US has a limited lifespan, so, even tho i use it, i wouldn't recommend anyone to make a major purchase.

sorry for the lengthy reply, Willie. . . i got distracted watching the latest episode of "Cutthroat Kitchen" on my kodi box

nope.

all the anti-piracy companies (like mine) got hired by the big spenders. ALL of the major movie studios and most TV providers that actually had something to protect.

it was always a hoot when a minor studio landed a "hit" and then came on board.

we never targeted legal P2P distribution

Thank for sharing. Elephants are one of my favorite animals. They have such a highly developed and intricate social structure. Very interesting animals.
