I prefer wider shoulders and thinner tails (yikes! That doesn't sound quite right!).

prayers and best wishes. Hope it works this time!
awwwwwww thanks darlin!

I can't figure out what it is with this Merlin. It has a rubbery taste. Seems like no matter what I do it still has it. I thought I had it figured out when I changed juice bottles but it is still there. I've washed it 3 times still there. I just can't figure it out.
you been chewin on pencil erasers again??? hehehe Dunno what would cause that. Hope you can figger it out.

Mike, glad you got your KF workin well

Dang Von.....although I actually kinda like that, it means the mailman lets me know when he's come.....it stinks that we're all having to deal with this stuff.

Just put a 1.48-ohm coil in a new EhPro Kayfun v1 clone (yep, built that bad boy myself). I'm getting just a hint of a scorched taste. I've noticed it from time to time on the other Kayfun I have in use. I have no doubt it's a wicking problem, even though I was mindful of how I did it. It's not so bad that I can't vape it. Just doesn't taste good. What would you folks suggest? Too much wick? Too little?

(FYI: I using KGD organic cotton)

When working with cotton ... use enough to fill the ID of the coil yet offer no resistance when pulling it through. It's probably better to err on a bit too much than too little. You just don't want a tight fit when it's going through the coil. (Now rayon is just the opposite).

He is that! His method is also what he (and Qorax) recommended for the Erlkonigin, and that's where I learned it. The Erl was notoriously fussy on wicking (which is why I gave it away :)). Anywho, it's second nature, now. Just takes a minute.

I just ordered rayon. The box looks to hold enough for my lifetime and that of all of my friends. Hope I like the stuff!

A bit of a learning curve when 1st starting out w/ rayon. You really want more than you think. You should have a decent amount of resistance when pulling it through the coil ... just shy of deforming the coil as you pull it through. If it's too tight and won't got through at all .. you can grab each end of the length of rayon and pull to stretch it out. Then try pulling it through he coil again.

Or you could use the 'double insertion' method. (Iffy shut up!). Make two wicks each about 1/2 the thickness of your desired wick. Twist an end on each of them to a thin 'starter' taper. Put one in from each side of the coil and pull the tapered ends until the wick gets good and snug in the coil. Then continue trimming / tucking etc.

Anybody ever dealt with Origin Vape? I'm thinking real seriously about ordering a Kayfun V5 and they say their in stock but everyone else sold out in a couple hours so it makes me wonder.

I think you've been answered but a bunch of folks in the authentic KF5 thread have bought from them.

That is hilarious, Leggs! Only because our Provari's were stuffed in a flat rate pouch and left in our country road type mail box! The only way I knew they were there is by constantly tracking them and when it said "out for delivery", I went and pulled them and all the junk mail! Weird, huh...............

Ok ... I know I posted this once before on the front porch ... so please excuse me as it may give some helpful ideas to folks new to coiling and wicking. This is how I do it using rayon.

Take a bundle of rayon and prepare it into a roll probably around 2x-3x the diameter of the coil. Wet and twist one end to make a taper to feed through the coil. Insert and pull it through the coil. It should have a fair amount of tension/resistance when working it through the coil. 'Listen", you'll hear it squeak telling you, you have enough. If it's too tight and starts to deform the coil ... grap both ends and 'pull'. This will stretch the rayon bundle. Try again to get it through the coil. It should be fairly snug to tight ... if you can easily pull it out you don't have enough. You'll use much more than when working w/ cotton.

Next I trim the ends longer than needed.

IMG_3266_zps1jwq7qii.jpg

Then I cut about 1/2 of the thickness of the tails away. You don't need full thickness tails. Rayon wicks superbly. Thick tails will tend to let the juice leach back out from under the coil between vapes.

IMG_3267_zpsweliefkt.jpg

Then I prime the wick in the coil and the 'too long' tails. I use a large pin to brush the tails into place. Then press hard w/ the pin into the corner of the atty deck where the tail goes down to the ledge w/ the juice channel.

IMG_3268_zpsazirhysx.jpg

Then I cut the tails just below the 'mark' left by the pin in the previous step.

IMG_3270_zpspavosx2y.jpg

Lastly, just tuck the tails into the crevice/corner of the deck and your all done. I like doing it this way better than having the collar around the coil/wick and the wick sticking up then cutting and tucking. Doing it this way I can see I have just enough wick touching the deck and it not blocking the juice channels at all. For me its just an easy repeatable process I use on all Kayfun type decks.

Put it together, fill the tank, and enjoy the vape.

I really don't like this Marlin. When I saw it on a review by djlsbvapes he was talking about the huge juice ports and huge places to put the wick. They're not huge they are tiny. If you build a 3mm coil there is no way in hell you can get the wick in without trimming the ends. He used a 4mm coil and got the wick in but of course he soaked the wick after and then vape it so sure it is going to be good. My STM's are way better just like I think the KF V5 would be plenty of room for the wick of course the people on the Marling thread thinks its the best thing since sliced bread. The juice ports are smaller then the STM. They have already made a change in them making the juice ports bigger and rectangular because people were complaining about dry hits. I would not recommend it to anyone.

That was a couple years back though Von
Ya, just my comment on the irony of how "things" have flip flopped.

Now, my warning was serious, if you're not stocked up NOW, get more nic NOW. Don't wait until the middle or end of July. I guarantee it will be too late by then. ;) :-x "They" are already having the P.O. & delivery services "take notes". As of this moment, nobody's doing anything "illegal" but "they" ARE getting your number. ;)

Hmmmm, not to be a "conspiracy theorist" BUT............ is the GOV already "inspecting" shipments???
I don't think so, in this case. The demand for K5's is high and the supply can't keep up. HHV is a brand new vendor for Svoemesto, so I suspect they aren't at the very top of the list. That said, HHV has sold out of them, twice - within a couple of hours.

Went ahead and re-wicked the Kayfun. Working great now. I think the original wick was a bit chincy. Skinny, like me. Let us know what you think of the rayon. My main attraction is that you apparently just stuff as much as the coil will allow because it shrinks when you put the juice to it.
Glad to know you got it! I'll let you know about the rayon. Seems folks either love it or don't.

@LittleBird Don't you just love their juice. It used to be all I used before I started DIYing.
Yup, it's good stuff! I'm still buying juice. Prolly buy 90% and make 10%. As taxes come in, that'll prolly upend!

@MikeE3, your method for rayon is similar to my method with cotton bacon (except for the "overstuff" part) - at least for Kayfuns. It may take an extra minute or two, but it works! I've seen some folks actually roll the rayon into a cylinder. Do you do that?

Yes I do. Actually I have to because I use Delasco rayon balls not Sally's. I unroll the balls into flat pieces. Then pull apart a section and roll it like rolling a cigarette or a ... well you know.

You bought them from ProVape right? Over the years I bought 6 of them and that's the way every one came.

(Iffy shut up!).
lmao!!

Ok, well your way of doing rayon was easier than other ways I've tried. Someone sent me a lil bit, and I tried it a few times, then went back to cotton. If you have the sally's kind, would you roll it into a semi tight roll or not do ya think? May ask my birdy to toss a lil bit in a regular envelope with a stamp for me to try again when she gets hers.

wow that is odd. Gotta sign for nic, but not a provari.

did you have to show your driver's license? Was thinking maybe it was an age verification thing that folks are already doing, because that starts earlier, maybe already, if not, then soon.
