I thought I read that you use a bit more rayon than cotton - i.e., tighter in the coil. Is that right? Also, I don't "break in" a cotton bacon wick. Should I break in a rayon wick?
If everything is thoroughly juiced up, probably not. I just always do, just so it has time to survive a few bumps and "settle in"

Been good for me.
My main attraction is that you apparently just stuff as much as the coil will allow because it shrinks when you put the juice to it.
Pretty near
Ok, well your way of doing rayon was easier than other ways I've tried. Someone sent me a lil bit, and I tried it a few times, then went back to cotton. If you have the sally's kind, would you roll it into a semi tight roll or not do ya think? May ask my birdy to toss a lil bit in a regular envelope with a stamp for me to try again when she gets hers.
Er, yeah, sorta, if we mean the same thing by semi-tight!
I generally build on a 2 mm mandrel. Sally's / Graham is cut to a length that's easy to handle. Each length is typically good for 3 or 4 wicks. I keep a couple Altoid tins with strips from the coil at my build area, so I don't have to have the box out
