The trick is to start small, pick a profile - bakery, fruit, whatever- do single flavor tests. Plenty of help here, including recipes.
The problem is virtually everything that I liked has coffee flavor in it. And a haven't found one single DIY coffee flavor I like yet. Most may taste fine before steeping, but quickly turns into tasting like dirt. Most premade coffee flavors also suffer the same problem. But a few does not. One I loved was Sweet-Vapes Nutty Coffee and that was a clear juice. I've never seen a clear coffee juice before and was it excellent. Sweet-Vapes quit making juice on 8-8-2016 and their website has been offline since 1-1-2019. The other coffee juices are brown, but BASIX, Grimm Creations, and YetiVape coffee juices aren't bad.

My husband’s first favorite was a coffee from Azure Vaping. They were off line for a while due to the PA tax nonsense, but I believe they’re back. It’s a dark juice, but it’s the best I tried. I agree though, coffee seems like it should be easy, but it is not.

When I first started vaping, there was one juice I liked. It was discontinued. I started mixing because I got tired of buying juice I didn’t like.

I’m a plan for the worst type person. I only know a couple other people who bother with mixing. I don’t hassle anyone who won’t, for whatever reason, but if the day comes when they can’t go buy their juice, I’m just gonna shrug and say gosh, that’s too bad. I have enough stocked for myself and my SIL because I promised to make hers. Everyone else is on their own unless they start grabbing some nic.

I keep warning my roommate about this too. She got me vaping so I feel protective of her. She buys her juice and would never have the time to DIY. She and her BF enjoy the juice I make but I keep telling her the 5 liters in the freezer was calculated for my vaping habits and if she’s going to want me to mix for her then she needs to buy her own nicotine.

The flavors I don’t care about so much but the nic - yes.

I don’t regret my nic stash (which should outlast me) one bit. Flavors will always be there, it will just be a question of knowing which ones are safe for vaping. I’ve bought flavors several times at the wholesale bakery supply store here when I’ve gone with my daughter.

I could probably use another liter or two but I’m trying to wait and see if I’m able to drop my nic level any more. I’ve got over 2.5 liters right now and am at 12mg.
If you vape 10ml a day (I picked that at random), according to the vape calculator, that’s about 5 years worth. I stocked up based on my 6mg base. I tried 3mg for a while and found I used way more juice than at 6. I can get by making my base at 5mg before flavors (maybe max 10-12% at most, 5% least), but lower than that just doesn’t work for me

I’m using probably 2-3 ml a day during the work week since I can’t openly vape at work. I know I go through more on the weekend but have so many different flavors going that I’m not sure how much.

The liter of unflavored base I have, and haven't opened yet (I will in the next month or three) is 24 mg/ml, and will last me close to two years at least. I have another liter of 100 mg/ml. When I break that liter open and mix it down to 4 liters, those 4 liters will last me around 7-8 years at least.

Since I mistakenly bought that 100 mg/ml liter @ 75/25 PG/VG, I'm gonna mix it down to 25 mg/ml. I'm lazy enough to like measurements that end in a 0 or a 5.. Who knows, in the next couple years I might want to try adding more than 1% of the 0-3 flavors I use now. I might even want to try a recipe with a bounty of flavors in it. I'll still have more than 5 years of base though..

I hope I’m wrong, but after years of seeing what the FDA does to pull other treatments/devices under their control, I think it’s likely they’ll be able to quickly pull the sale of nicotine under their control. And, I don’t think there will be much advance notice. They have more absolute power and less government oversight/intervention than people believe.

I can see a lot of ways this could play out. And I’m no conspiracy theorist, but they do seem bent on making a mess of vaping along with everything else they touch.

Nic is my biggest concern. I imagine it will still be available, but I’m guessing at a far lower concentration, and taxed like cigarettes but likely much higher. Harder to get. ID requirements.

I’m just trying to avoid playing those games.

I hope you’re right. I’m basing my “guess” on 15 years of working in a job with FDA oversight. They’re absolutely frustrating to deal with, and often make decisions out of the blue. Perhaps because of that, I have a higher distrust of what might happen.

I'm not finished stocking up on #nicotiiiiiiiiiiiiine until I'm confident that I have enough to last out my lifetime...for myself, my wife, my friends and anyone that might need #nicotiiiiiiiiiiiiine e-liquids that comes to me to quit smoking or maintain their non-smoking status in case of unjust & immoral regulations crippling THR.
    IOW I'm not done.

Oh the agony. After a week of dithering I finally came to understand that I really need to buy an Aegis Solo on pre-order. I was tipsy with excitement. Went to Health Cabin and couldn't remember my password. Went through the forgot password routine and never got the email. I think that happened once before and it didn't arrive until the next day. I wrote a short poem to record my despair for posterity.

To be, or not to be--that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles
And by opposing end them. To die, to sleep--
No more--and by a sleep to say we end
The heartache, and the thousand natural shocks
    That flesh is heir to.

I could go on, but enough. I'll just wait until the email arrives tomorrow.

You’ll probably still need more depending on your age and how long you plan on vaping for imo anyways. Oh and how much u vape daily.

There’s a calculator floating around somewhere that can figure it out but I vape 25-30 mls per day at 3mg and I think it worked out to be 2.5 or maybe 3.5 years (I better double check lol) years was 1 liter of nicotine. So I have 5 liters but plan on getting 1 maybe 2 more. I’m in my mid soon to be late 50s though.

I’m sure someone can find that calculator. A link must be on this thread.

Agree. Lower concentrations and probably only available in small quantities as well.

According to the calculator, I’ve got enough for 15-20 years right now. I only use about 3ml of 12mg a day.
